Average Salary for IT Professionals

Hi Guys,

I was wondering, what is the typical asking price ng IT prof. with about 10 years of experience?
In the IT Infrastructure line...

I got a few friends here in SG saying, ang normal asking price ay AUD80 per year.
pero my friends and I have researched , normal lang ang... 110K per year....

I got a few calls from recruiters from Australia kasi, pero mukang binabarat ako sa sweldo... 50K per year lang daw.
So I am not sure...

6 figure non management role are only given by top or asx listed companies that is if you have the necessary 'experience' (local + specialisation + certification).

For non management role na i-hihire outside aus, tama na nasa range yung 50-70 as they may be able to provide you with lafha benefits if this has not been abolished.

May mga instances nga kahit more than 10yrs professional experience + management role pahirapan/tawaran pa yung 90 range eh. And survey is just paper, almost always hindi rin yan nasusunod. Good read, it'll help you to uplift your spirit.

Thinking of it, medyo comparable din pala ang Australia VS Singapore in terms of salary.
Khit mas mataas ang exchange rate ng AUD sa SGD, enjoy nman sa SG ang low tax and its CPF (additional 35 % of your salary as saving, cannot be touched until you leave the country).
Unlike Australia's Super, you can touch it once you hit 55 years old up ata...

In terms of air ticket, mas mura sa Singapore compared to Australia.

I guess ang habol talaga sa Australia is family, lifestyle and I guess.. freedom.
Compared to Singapore na everyone is "rat racing" and everyone is very competitive.

How about retirement guys, sa pinas ma rin ba?

But personally, if I am to earn the same SGD Vs AUD, I think sa SGD ako mag stay since its just 3hrs away from Manila.

I guess, Australia will be a back up plan for me if SG do not work out in the long run. Since I still have 2 years left in my Permanent Residency dito sa SG.

Nasa SG ako with my family early 2000s. Working for a large bank, permanent staff, team lead role, PR and back then I thought this is where I want to retire. But having a young family, I soon realised na this is not the environment I want my kids to grow up. Then an opportunity for me to work in AU came, it was for small IT consulting firm , net salary is below what I used to receive, but I took it anyway kasi alam ko eto yung ticket namin for our life in OZ. It didn't take long before everything went back to order - good job, better pay, family lifestyle, car and house. And I'm glad I took that risk.
Don't get me wrong. I love SG. safe & efficient. Every year we still visit SG, meet our friends, experience the latest shops, mall and theme parks. If I'm still single I'll probably still be working in SG because of it's proximity to pinas.

Nice to hear your story po @scorcher...I agree po...SG is nice...but the general feel you get from the country is that it's just one huge office space hehe..parang no room for a carefree life hehe

Tama po kayo dyan, Singapore is a "business" place.. pag uwe mo, tulog tapos work ulit.. i mean you don't get to go to loads of places.. orchard saka sentosa.
hmm been living here so long, I got sick of this place.

Currently, Singapore is very strict in taking in foreigners.. maybe its a blessing in disguised for me. so off to Aussie I go.

by the way, san po kayo nag stay when u guys got to Aussie land?
And normaly , mas easy po ba mag hanap ng work sa SG or Aussie?

pag titingnan yung mga salary guide. usually for IT ganito mga ranges:
    junior: 60-80K
    intermediate: 90-110K
    senior: 120K+

pero di ko alam kung nasusunod talaga yan. pag contractual, usually mataas talaga ang bigay. sabi din ng nakausap namin na pinoy agent dito (sydney), common practice daw ng company when hiring a person without local experience, medyo pang-junior na rate ang binibigay. but i think, case to case din kasi e. depende sa hiring practice ng company, depende sa skill mo, depende sa experience mo, at depende sa urgency ng open position. kadalasan, swertihan din talaga.

I miss the big city life kasi I was in Toronto a few years ago, parang Singapore din except sa snow. I like the huge malls, boxing day sales, buildings everywhere, competitive work performance. Now I'm in queensland, konting buildings, nature, parks, beach, 10am-4pm office hours, its so boring. :)

I have a friend from Sg who migrated with his family to Oz few years back, according to him mas expensive nga daw bilihin and tax sa Oz but still mas malaki pa din daw ang naiipon nila as compared nung andito sila sa Sg.

I was thinking maybe because better pay and lifestyle na din. Dito kasi sa Sg parang iniencourage ang mga tao na bumili ng bumili... almost the whole year round may sale (gadgets, clothes, furniture)... sana kung 50% off sale nalang din ang mga flats and condos baka na-encourage na din ako bumili hehe.

hahaha ganon ba. Oo nga... Singapore mabilis maubos ang datong natin.. $50 sa umaga, pag tinin mo sa wallet mo $18 nalang pala hehe...

anyways, I was checking other forums, expat.com ba yun.. ang dami pala natin kalaban sa IT jobs and various industry na from India. threat ba sila?

Alam mo nman, I don't wanna be racist, but being in a semi management and interviewer sa IT company namin, medyo magaling ang indians mag buka..
at ang dami talaga nilang IT certifications. pero kulang sa actual and practical work. that's what I think at least.

anyways, normally ilang months kayo nag hanap ng job?
And anong entertain dyan sa Sydney/Australia?

bka nman... kangaroo lang ha hehehe

I agree hehe @beth_loggins kahit hindi IT...mas marunong ang mga Indians pero mas madiskarte mga Pinoy hehe

I guess if you have the option (as racist as this sounds)...look for a company na multi-cultural din...kasi kung puros migrants kayo sa team (lalo na Indians), sobrang competitive...

hehe.. ayaw ko katrabaho mga anaps. ma politika yan mga yan, mas trip ko ma mainland chinese khit they loud when they talk, they work by the book. ang mga anaps naman, para silang 300, THIS IS INDIA!
pag kalaban mo isa, kalaban mo lahat. bad trip nga yung isang nap samin, politka...

hmm pero mas mahirap ba mag hanap ng work dyan sa aussie compared to Singapore?
Dito at least, kalaban ay mostly asian for normal post, kaya sablay sila sa English, eh dyan... puti kalaban natin. mga 6 footer pa... hehe ala model. eh
