May mga inaaplyan ako laging naka out of theoffice yung reply nung recruiter.

I think ang biggest challenge talaga sa pag-migrate sa AU is yun paghanap ng work. Kasi kahit gaano pa talaga kadami ipon mo from Phils, pag-convert mo na sa AUD and dito na ang gastos mo mauubos agad yun if wala ka income. Pray lang ng pray, ayun after few weeks of searching meron na nag-job offer dun sa mga in-apply-an ko.

And then isa pa na naging challenge ko siguro is yun driver's licence. Parang deja vu lang sakin nun bumagsak ako nun first take ko, yun disappointment ko parang nun bumagsak ako sa IELTS dati sa Pinas. Nakakalungkot talaga. A$45 per hour and kanya syempre yun kotse. Ayun 2nd take, pumasa naman. Haha.

Which is to make us a better person. And more importantly, na meron Diyos na lagi tumulong sa atin at hindi niya tayo bibigyan ng pagsubok na hindi natin kakayanin. :)

    Up for this thread...

We are on our 20th day here in Melbourne; so far getting adjusted na rin - although I can say mahal talaga bilihin dito, ahahahaha!! :)

Biggest challenge is finding work, mahirap talaga... 12th day namin ngayon maghanap ng work and mejo quiet ang response ng mga recruiter. I got 1 phone interview lang so far and around a dozen rejection email. Earlier today, I got a sad shock as I saw a "BLOCKED NUMBER" miss call - nasa toilet kasi ako doing my morning ritual. Sana that bloke will call back.

Wife naman is doing better, she will have a second interview via SKYPE in an hour plus she already was accepted by CPA Australia as an Associate Member, so may dagdag credential siya.

Do I feel pressure? OF COURSE!! :) But at the end of the day, ito naman ginusto namin eh so we need to strive... There should be light at the end of the tunnel, the sooner the better!!

I encourage everyone to share; fire away guys!! :)

I'm still reconsidering kasi if to bring my family along with me or to go solo. It has been more than a month na wala akong work from SG. Kabado rin pero hopefully we'll have the wisdom and motivation to push through with migration.
For @psychoboy to share his experience is a boost to our spirit, thank you.. And sana makuha mo na ung inaasam mo at ng asawa mong break.

Ahahahaha, that is why we always psych ourselves after receiving 3 rejections on a gloomy Melbourne morning... Sabi ko kay misis (at sa sarili ko na rin), "less than a month pa lang tayo babe, it can't be that bad..." - pero of course, I guess alam mo rin na mejo mahirap to fully convince yourself on this statement...

    Pero kaya ito!! :)

    To OP, challenges sa:

Yung NBN sobrang mahal $130 for 500GB plan, wtf.

Nakakatamad na kasing mag english by the end of the day.

@li_i_ren naisip ko na rin yan, settle muna tsaka pasunurin wife&lil kids pero alam mo kasi wife ko eh may possibility na magkawork sa former employer nya in their AU office. kaya i'm sorting out ung accommodation. next is school for the kids, i have 5 and 3 yr old.
nung kyo ba, how's the transition? nauna ka rin ba before your family? and paano nyo nasettle ung accommodation, naghire b kyo ng relocation consultant/agent prior to the move?
    sorry dami tanong..salamat ng marami..

@Okim actually yan naging problem namin migrating from nz to au. We actually had to send our 4 yrs. old back sa pinas kasi almost 5-6 months ung naging waiting namin sa daycare. So uwi muna sya then me full time work..si hubby full time studies kasi when he got here sa au.

My ate sorted an apartment from us. Kasi dapat viewing talaga and all requirements i did via email to the leasing agent but my ate acted as middleman for us.

So when we got here i had na a flat pero no school for my daughter. My ate and he husband can only offer to look after her weekends kaya na uwi talaga namin.

I called about 20 something childcare centers in our area. Mataas ung waiting times..very lucky if meron vacancies agad.

As for money, cost of living..coming from nz, au is actually cheaper except lng sa rent but for me food and shopping plus ebay delivers here to au i find it was cheaper compared to nz. So not much of a problem and i had a job stat when we got here so it wasnt a major issue also.

Yan lang about schooling.. Family. I have friends here but shift workers din so d din pwdi mag iwan ng kids and i dont trust babysitters.

Kaya good to sort out daycare or schools on ur own before getting the kids no matter how old here.

I sometimes ask myself, why leave NZ? Then I heard about the beautiful stories of Pinoys in Australia. Kaya eto, katulad ng dati kong ginawa, maglalakas loob na migrte sa Australia kasama ang kaing pangarap na someday I will make it in Australia. Maraming salamat sa mga sharing ng inyong karanasan, I have learned so much from you all.

    sa Brisbane ako.

    @olrac183
No regrets. Tingin ko kasi mas maganda ang lifestyle ko ngayon compare nung nasa pinas at canada pa ako - healthy living (diet & exercise with the occasional 9 kfc for $9.95), work, hobbies, etc. Perhaps I'll probably say the same thing kung nasa canada ako with a filipino barkada and a good work, who knows.

    @vhoythoy
It's purely a career move.

Sobrang sakit talaga and buti na lang may 000 for the ambulance.

Thank you Lord!!

@loudandclear most companies do not offer health insurance. Responsibilities natin yan but sometimes they can get discounted rates from insurance providers. Medicare is for p.r. And citizens only. If work or student visa required insurance bago kabigyan ng visa.

Standard hospital room is about 500 aud per night and i.c.u is 1000aud per night... So insurance or medicare is a must!! Most people in au may private insurance kahit naka medicare sila kasi may choice ka of doctors, hospitals and shorter waiting list.

Also sometimes what happens you pay first like medyo emergency then claim refund from ur insurance company;)

D naman siguro 100k pesos for a gallbladder polyps kahit sa pinas pero mahal pa rin:)
