yes academic ielts as i said because our education is not the same standard in oz, so irregardless of how long is your hosp exp u need to take ielts, ahpra won't by any chance process ur application if wala kang ielts band score of 7, basing sa experience mo na 6months it's possible na ahpra will advise u to take conversion program meaning mag aaral ka dun ng 1or 2yrs. lahat ng nurses from pinas na may hosp work exp 2yrs-up most likely mag bibridging course ng 3months unless ur working in new zealand, canada, uk, us.. yan pede nila iwaive bridging mo, just like mam ren (above)galing siya nz kaya d na siya nagbridging pagdating ng oz.

hope this helps a bit but alam mo ako rin on the process of everything what i did search ng search ng mga forums malalaman mo lahat ng details.. try mo basa forums sa www.allnurses.com search mo ahpra registration/requirement to bridging and everything.

try mo muna dagdagan work experience mo then review ielts..ahpra is accepting 1-2yrs work exp pero mas safe kung more than that para bridging nalang ipapakuha nila instead of conversion pero kung di na talaga pede kasi papa oz kana, ielts kana lang dun then apply sa ahpra and do the course they will advise you to take,if PR kana mas advantage, may tuition help sila so medyo ok ok na rin kahit conversion program pa.
anyway goodluck, medyo madugo ang academic 7 makuha kaya dapat talaga review.( as what i did now)hopefully makuha in one take.

    goodluck!!

Hello, Li_i_ren! I have 10 years hospital experience here in Pinas. I'm in the stage of preparing my papers for submission to AHPRA, pero sobra isip ko kung itutuloy ko talaga. I want your opinion kung sa current trend ba ngayon e malaki pa ba ang chances na makakuha ako ng work after bp? The money to be spent kasi is malaki talaga and I'm afraid I'll be making a wrong move.

@nars98: Hi po. Yes, legitimate ang concern mo, in my humble opinion. Naiintindihan ko yang ganyang feeling. Kasi, hindi talaga mura ang course. Tapos, you'll be on a student or bridging visa. So, the expenses really doesn't end there. You are right also in your assessment of the current employment trend. Totoo po yan, it is more competitive. Alam ko yan kasi mga ka-berks ko dito mga pinay nurses sa unit ko eh.

Pero having said all that, hindi mo rin malalaman until you try. Another question good to ask, what's the alternative? Stay in Pinas, or move forward? Aussie or another country?

Considering na 10 years ang hospital experience mo... If you can get good IELTS score and good professional references? I think it's worth a shot. Particularly if the alternative is staying in Pinas, na alam naman natin mahirap maging medical professional. Pero syempre maging handa sa risks.

To minimise risk, Gandahan mo CV mo hehehe. Tipong, kahit Pinas experience mo ay tipong clinical nurse yung dating ng CV haha. Update mo yung ACLS mo, etc. Or alam mo yung IV cannulation, alam ko may course yan eh and required number. Hindi lahat ng nurse dito may ganyan, advantage mo na yan if ever. Tutal, ospital work mo, if you can get assigned in specialty areas, like cardiac surgical or neonatal icu, mas maganda! Also, preferably no gaps.

    Just my two cents. :)

Thanks for the meaningful reply, Nadine! I can't get out of the deciding stage. Pero tama ka, either I get stuck in here or take the risk. I gave up my hospital job last year to attend to my family, so may gap na ako dun. Mahirap mag decide.

May gap din ako. Pero hindi ako nurse ha hehe. Tinanggap naman ng ahpra explanation ko. Tatanggapin naman nila pag personal/family reasons. Wag lang sobrang haba ng gap.

Risk naman kasi talaga eh, kahit saan or kahit ano. I'm an advocate of taking a risk, but make it a calculated risk.

Ah, ahpra lang po makakasagot niyan. Although I think, payag naman. Depende na lang kung bridging or conversion ipapakuha. And as already been mentioned dito, for those coming from some western countries, pwedeng wala na additional courses kahit may gap pa.

May gap ako 6 months. Iba-iba tayo assessing board ha. I'm not a nurse, pero pareho tayo licensing authority which is AHPRA. Strict medyo ang ahpra. Ang binigay ko reason for my gap is travel abroad. But if you claim travel, kailangan ready ka din mag present ng proof na nag travel ka talaga. Kaya I think, better na personal or family reasons. Tsaka, australians pala are pro-family. So, acceptable and normal sa kanila ang family reasons.

Akala ko kumpleto na ako sa pag explain ng gap. Di pa pala!! Tinanong pa rin ako ng ahpra isa pang gap na di ko expect tatanungin pa. May 6-7 months ako from the time natapos internship to getting license sa Pinas. Akalain niyo yan, hindi pa ako licensed nun ha kasi kaka-graduate ko lang, pero inungkat pa rin nila.

Hindi visa processing yung mahirap sa atin. Etong mga licensing and assessing bodies napaka stricto.

@knoxville nope. For everyday expenses lang yung 20hours/week na income mo. I am on my last term for credit prior learning program or conversion program. You can enroll for conversion then crash course ng aged care for 1 week class lecture the around 80hours na placement sa aged care facility. You can do that sa VICSEg in Coburg.
after ng conversion program m po?.. nag ielts ka po ba ulit for registration in aphra?.. tnx.. =)

Hi! RN po ko since 2009, volunteer for 3 months (no certificate, cause hosp told me they are not going to give any unless i volunteer for 6months) BST in lung center (d ko din tinapos). In short, i did not declare any relative experiences. QUT offered me 2yrs course for nursing. may nabasa ako here from @Nadine na it is better to update trainings, etc? so i am planning to update my BLS and ACLS in PHC since way back 2011 expired na ang mga ganyan ko. Even yung IVT ko hindi ko din napa-renew so incase na need ko sya gawin, i need to collect cases again. Do you think those training would be a help if i would seek for a part-time job? yung part-time job na AIN or anything na related na sa medical field..?

Thank you sa mag-rereply guys, I just need to know if i still need to update these stuffs or hindi na para less gastos na din ;)

    @tenseako: Hi!

Naku, I don't think I am in a position to comment if those trainings will help you land an AIN job sa Oz. I suppose if you will work in aged care, having ACLS will be to your advantage kasi matatanda na pasyente dun at madami cardiac problems hehe...

I think na mention ko lang yan previously, kasi may nagtanong dito sa thread na may 10years of experience siya. Pero she was anxious about getting a job after bridging. Sa kanya kasi, mahaba kasi experience niya eh (10 years to me is good clinical experience already). The most na magagawa niya to "improve" her chances for a nursing position - is to update those trainings/update clinical skills. Selling point definitely ang clinical skills. That was as far as her situation was concerned, I actually mentioned it in context at that time. Also, opinion ko lang din yun, there really is no foolproof formula to land any job whatsoever.

Pero kung makakatulong ang ganun for AIN or parttime job, di ko alam talaga. Sorry ha, I wish I could give a better opinion.

AIN... you dont do much clicinal patient care naman eh. Mostly, bathing..feeding, restocking.
No meds. Parang caregiver lang ang AIN. Its a job given to student nurses on a part time basis.

Its not an in demand job for me..our hospital is 3 hospitals in 1 block.. Adults, womens' and kids. We don't have AINs.

Don't bother with being IV certified unless you have an emergency room experience and get a job sa E.D. You can cannulate but most nurses here sa wards don't cannulate. And most of the trainings sa pinas..not recognized naman dito kahit si red cross. But apls/bls, i think ok to get i think you can use that applying for jobs in aged care, nanny or whatnot.

In hospitals, we have to repeat them for free naman as part of mandatory training as medical workers. Also if you are going to be a nursing student here... They will offer you naman courses and trainings...better do that na lang kaysa redundant yung gastos mu na di naman recognized pag dating dito.

@li_i_ren @Nadine hi! I know everything is really not sure when I try to find work there. But I'm just also thinking if anyone would employ me kung wala ko kahit isang updated training. I know there is a great chance na mauulit lang din yung trainings, pero concern ko lang is kung employable ba ung resume ko. haha! tingin ko kasi yung ACLS/BLS lang mkakatulong sa kn na kahit pano, I am credible to do something. I'm really starting from the scratch, I also don't want to waste more money here pero kung somehow makakatulong naman sya for me in finding a job there why not db? e gumastos na din ako e. mas pangit naman ung andun na ko tas hirap ako mghanap ng job dahil wala kong skill na pdeng iprovide. age care is a-okay with me. so bls and acls nalang tingin nyo? no need to renew IVT license? sayang din kasi ung 3,200 na expense kung d pala sya mkakatulong sa resume. hehe

last job ko was in a call center kasi. :/
