may nabasa pala ako somewhere. In Chevron, ung starting ng fresh grads (Chemical engineers ata), around 60-80K a year, pero mga 2-3 years ago pa ata to. Tapos 14% pa ang superannuation nila. Plus ibang benefits pa like bonuses etc...

Walang 13th month pay sa AU? hahha Sorry, OT ata to.

I would say mas lenient ang tax table ng Australia kesa satin. Andami pang tax deductions at offsets.

    walang 13th month pay.

Every year may performance at salary review.. Tumataas ang sahod every year.

@TotoyOZresident yan ba yung AWOTE indexation sa suweldo? I've read it somewhere at dun talaga ako nagagandahan sa labor market sa Australia hehe

Pag 457 visa holders, considered resident for "tax purposes" so ang tax bracket is the same as with PRs but normally temporary resident for "medicare purposes", kaya may be able to claim full exemption from the medicare levy. You need to apply for Medicare Levy Exemption Certificate. This falls under category 3, eto po ang link for more details http://www.ato.gov.au/content/00313867.htm
May kakilala po ako on 457 visa nakuha nya yung 1.5% deduction sa salary nya pero yun nga you need to provide the medicare levy exemption certificate to ATO to get a refund. Wala siyang dependent kaya straight forward.

@LokiJr, yes it is part of the 2 conditions of the 457 visa http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled-workers/sbs/obligations-employee.htm
Depende din sa company, mostly nakikita ko ay pag 457 visa holder ka, employer nagbabayad sa insurance mo if not 50/50 and they are normally with Iman Health Insurance.

@spykes78 thanks for the link. I'm also considering this option (since I'm originally for ENS) since this visa gets approved easily hehe.

Hello, ask ko lang, do I need to wait for the exemption certificate to arrive before I file my Tax Return thru e-tax? Confirm ko lang sayo if that is the case.
    Salamat.

    I also want to know @MeliMaRt ...

I applied for medicare exemption na. Takes months daw. Ang sabi dun sa form you have to wait for the certificate to present to ATO. Otherwise, we won't get the extra refund without that certificate.

Sana may makapag advice sa atin. Thanks in advance sa mga makakapag input. :)

Hi Nadine, sori to correct u, eto nakalagay sa form "To claim an exemption... you may be required to supply a copy of ML exemption cert. to ATO, if requested"
if requested daw... di naman compulsory na magprovide agad di ba...

naka ready na yung e-tax ko, di ko palang ma lodge kasi I need further advice from 'old' people here...lol.. I mean sa mga 'beterano' napo...
    Salamat... :)

    To claim an exemption:
    • To claim an exemption from the Medicare levy in your income tax return, you need to supply a copy of your Medicare levy exemption certification. To obtain this certification, you must complete this application form and submit it to Medicare Australia.
    • When we have assessed and processed your application, we will send you the certificate, or a response which details the reason your certification was refused.
    • We require certified copies of all used pages of your passport. This includes all Australian visas, all arrival and departure stamps and the photo page.
    • We require a separate application form for each financial year. (A financial year runs from 1 July to 30 June).
    • We require an original dated signature on each application form.
    • If a tax agent prepares the application, the tax agent must complete the Tax Agent details under question 12 of the application form.

Onga, we need input on this one. May natanong kang tax consultant? They would know, I reckon.

For example pag my medicare levy exemption kayo.. Example computation lg to ha..
Tax refund: $3000 + Medicare levy $700= $3700 ung tax refund na makukuha..

    Pag wlang medicare levy exemption:
Tax refund: $300- medicare levey $700= $2300 ung tax refund na makukuha..

So sobrang laki ng difference pag wlang medcare levy exemption..

My 457 Visa is currently on-process, just completed the medical check up. Halimbawa 100k per annum ang tax ba is around 27%.

Yung private health insurance pala worth 300/mo(covers family of 4) will be paid by the employer so hindi pwede isama sa tax exemption?

    Tax calculation is easy: http://www.paycalculator.com.au

As you have a health insurance (and hindi ka eligible for medicare), you are not liable to pay for medicare levy. The private health insurance may be taxable (at concessional FBT rate) but I could be wrong, check your HR on the tax treatment of such benefit.

Thanks for the URL bro, bookmarked!

I talked to the our HR, yung health insurance will be part of my monthly allowance so it will be charged to my CC then reimburse from the company. She also mentioned the company will support my PR application the sooniest time na pwede na mag apply para hindi na ko mag claim ng health insurance since magkakaron na ng medicare.

How about other allowances like mobile phone, broadband internet, taxi fare? taxable ba mga to?

Coming from Singapore na sobrang baba ng tax medyo nagugulat pa ko.By the way, yung employer is my current employer in SG so as much as possible nag ne negotiate pa ko na makuha yung current net income ko otherwise, medyo talo ako dahil sa tax.

    hello!

    sana may makatulong.

Medicare levy exemption is filed every after financial year. So for 2015-2016 financial year, you can apply after june 30. Before you process your tax refund, you should apply for medicare levy exemption. They will give you a certificate which then you'll provide along with your tax return application.
