@silver_ice yes our perserverance and determination are being tested this time. hopefully, we all get our desired scores na..

Btw, I have a question pala. I mean kasi yung task 1 ko, kinulang yung space to write yung ending part ko.. so, di na ako nakapag allot ng 1 space in between sa 2 last paragraphs.

@filipinacpa agree... yep, claiming for an 8 on all bands this time :)

accdg to IELTS IDP site, writing is graded on the following criteria:
"Writing: Examiners award a band score for each of four criterion areas: Task Achievement (for Task 1), Task Response (for Task 2), Coherence and Cohesion, Lexical Resource and Grammatical Range and Accuracy. The four criteria are equally weighted."

although it didn't mention about technicalities other than those mentioned above, inisip din ni hubby baka daw naka-affect din sa scoring yung d maintindihin na penmanship nya, font 8 sa liit at parang italized pa... not sure though. confident din ako ke hubby sa part na 'to kaso kelangan talaga "the ielts way" ang format... so review pa.

    Godbless sa lahat ng mag-e-exam...

@filipinacpa yes madam.

Nominated Occupation: Architectural Draftsperson (ANZSCO Code: 312111)

Your welcome. Yes, ACT is really an option for us Internal Auditors.

I'd love to aim for an 8 in all bands too. Parang mas may option eh. Before sa writefix ako, then nagconcentrate na ako using Simon. Nagfocus kasi talaga ako sa grammar and vocabs noon.

I think same lang criteria ng BC and IDP. Haha just my two cents. Lol

Anyway, tama po. Heaps of concentration and determination talaga dapat natin baunin. Goodluck sating lahat! :)

@filipinacpa Yes, kaya nga ako nalungkot kasi ang mahirap ng pathway ko, 3 components ang assessment ko, work and education assessment under APharmC (ok na ako dito),then English test and qualifying exam before ako maka claim ng 15 points sa qualifications, but sad to say I can't make it this year, I don't want to rush myself to retake the IELTS agad agad, ang hirap mag manage ng oras lalo na pag married and may mga kids tapos may inasikaso pa ako na business. Kasi yung qualifying test namin is scheduled twice a year lang every March and Sept. If I want to take the qualifying this coming March dapat before Dec 15. ma send ko na application ko together with my IELTS, sa kasamaang palad di umabot scores ko. Kasi kasama kami sa natangal sa SOL this year. Pero upon checking sa ceiling ng DIAC 780 ang ceiling value for pharmacist 10 palang ang results to date. Hayz sana naman wala na magbago next year.

Nov. 8, 2013 -IELTS Results L,R,W,S- 7.0 OBS-7.0 ( need to retake, I need to get 7.5 OBS with no lower than band 7 in any
    sub-tests.)
    May 10, 2014 (IELTS 2nd try) L,R,W-7,S-7.5 OBS-7 (failed again) :(

@chu_se haha oo nga e. Well sabi naman nila wala daw binanggit kung kelan. Grabe, kakapressure no. Let's just use this as motivation instead.

Hehe.

@imeetr I understand. Mahirap talaga kapag marami responsibilities. Determination and focus nalang talaga.

Hays oo nga parang lagi nalang may nababago. Hehe.

@filipinacpa It is better to start early tulad mo, ako kasi as young as your age nag plano na rin ako mag migrate, ang dami na nangyari and ibat ibang options na ang sinubukan ko dito sa Pinas, from rank and file employee naging supervisor tapos nag shift sa business, just to weigh things if we'll stay here or mag migrate. I know that We will be able to pull through and in the end winner lahat tayo!

I see a lot of 6.5 in one sub-test. Ganyan talaga, business eh. May gagawin silang paraan para may isang sumabit. Take lang uli ng take.

About IDP and BC, I really think nagiging subjective ang W and S scoring kahit saan pa iyan. I took my first two exams sa IDP, I had 6.5 on both exams sa writing. I had the same examiner on both exam (look at the writing examiner number).

Regarding writing, do not under estimate task 1. Remember this is 1/3 of your score. You should master writing letters for GT as well.

@imeetr super agree. Dadating ang time na nasa cloud 9 tayo. Haha

Sana ganun kadali magtake ng magtake. Money + time nawawala. God is so good talaga. Dami ko ngayon freelance work pandagdag sa ipon. Siguro He wants me to appreciate more the essence of hardwork. Well, ika nga ng famous quote natin, "try and try until you succeed".

Godbless sa lahat ng magtake! Hardwork + prayer. Another lessons learned.

Goodluck din! :) Well, as of now, Listening and Reading e. Nakakatamad kasi magpractice ng writing. What i am doing now is reading a lot of essays and looking at the structure. Then hopefully maalala ko ung sentence construction. Plan ko ngayon magbasa pa ng dictionary to improve my vocabulary. Siguro this week i'll start writing essays na everyday haha!

Ikaw ba? Any additional tips? Thanks!

For Writting task 2, I suggest you practice the following in this order:

    1. Master constructing different sentence structures.
    2. Master constructing an "EILTS" paragraph.
    3. Memorize the different essay structures for the different types of essay question types.

You may notice that item number 2 says "IELTS" essay. This is bacuase no matter what type of task 2 question, a high band paragraph always stays the same. There are a few variations on the writing style, but the elements (main idea - then supporting sentences - examples... etc...) should always be the same.

When you master wrting a high band paragraph, constucting the essay is just a matter of stitching them together according to the type of essay question you get.

On a more personal note, don't memorize essays. Just have your own opinion, support it with ideas, then explain your ideas preferably with examples. (sometimes examples are not that important as long as your are explained properly and you have written enough sentences to explain your idea)

agree ako dito. :) feeling ko sa fear sa test 2 ng writing lahat naka focus dun hindi nila narerealise that this part 1 can be their saving grace.

I'm really having a hard time in reading long passages. I get tired and bored in the end. Sigh. How did you guys overcome it?

Anyway, I would suggest watching all the episodes of IELTS Australian Network. I think they have 3 series with more than 20 episodes each. You can pick up ideas from a wide variety of topics. I always listen to this whenever i'm travelling.

    Are you taking Academic Module?

At first, I do not read the whole passage. What I do for long passages:

    1. Take about 1 to 3 minutes reading all the questions. Underline or circle any names, places, dates, and other key words...
    2. Read all the questions again.
    3. Read and internalize the title of the passage - with this, you should have an idea what the passage is about.
    4. Fast read the first 2 to 3 sentences of each paragraph marking names, dates, places and other key words. You should get an idea what each paragraph is about after the 1st or 2nd sentence. By this time, you should be able to answer at least half of the questions for that passage.

Important: The answer to each question will most likely be found IN ORDER on the passage. Meaning, the 1st question for that passage will most likely be found in paragraph 1 or 2. (only for long passages)

    5. So this time, read the questions ONE by ONE and IN-ORDER then read each paragraph starting from the first paragraph until you find the answer. Chances are, you will get one or two answers from 1 paragraph. Fast reading should be easier this time because you have an idea what each paragraph is about. When you think the question is out of topic from the paragraph you are reading, go to the next paragraph.

I prioritize fill in the blanks questions (making sure to copy exactly the answer from the passage. including spelling..)

To perfect the T,F, and NG questions, you must read the whole passage. What I do is answer this last because you will ran out of time if you read the whole passage. Plus you have more chances of getting a correct answer if you are not sure of the asnwer. Just make sure not to leave anything blank.

When you think that you have exhausted all your knowledge and tricks and you are running out of time, then use your common sense to answer any blank questions. Just remember to this only as a desperate measure. Chances are, you will get one or two questions right...
