"The Australian Government is advised to remove over 50 occupations from the DIAC’s (Department of Immigration and Citizenship) Skilled Occupation List in 2014.
Every year the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) consults the Australian Workforce and Productivity Agency (AWPA) for preparing the Skilled Occupation Lists (SOL). For the next year (2014) this Agency has advised the DIAC to cut more than 50 Occupations from the SOL List."

What is the Australian Workforce and Productivity Agency?
The Australian Workforce and Productivity Agency (AWPA) is an independent statutory body which provides advice to the Australian Government on Australia’s current, emerging and future skills and workforce development needs. the source could be a migration agent/agency, offering their services to those planning to migrate whose occupations are listed above. The list, however, was provided by AWPA although what was mentioned is that these occupations may be removed from the SOL in future years, not exactly 2014.

Wife is the primary visa applicant.

Yes, this is from my migration agents. They frequently have updates in their websites. And yes the list was from AWPA.

However, it was only indicated that "these are likely" to be removed, not ALREADY REMOVED. Only advised by AWPA.

Just want to share so that if this is true, we can all prepare.

    Holy clusterf*ck!

Kung tama intindi ko. Mag-aassess sila ng mga nasa flagged occupations this 2014. Tapos irerecommend nila kung tatanggalin sa SOL in the near future. Puwedeng matanggal or puwede din magstay sa SOL ang mga flagged occupation. Sigh.

Ganun talaga; dynamic naman kasi ang needs for skilled migrants sa australia eh (as with other nations as well like canada, new zealand, etc). you need not worry about this if you have started your application.

hindi naman kasi pwede tanggap lang ng tanggap ang australia ng new skilled migrants even if saturated na ang market for people possessing those skills. case in point si misis, skilled accountant sya but she had a very hard time looking for work as there are lots of accountants around here who are also looking for a job.

there are pros and cons for this if ever they will implement it on July 1st 2014.

I posted this because my sister is a CPA in our country and applying here in Australia. Siguro sponsorship na lang ang pag-asa if matutuloy nga na tanggalin ang Accountant sa list. I have many friends here in Wilson who are Accounting graduates of Curtin University, mostly Chinese and Malaysians, they are having difficulties finding a job at mageexpire na ang kanilang visa.

Thanks for the info. Para sa mga naka pasa na, buti na lang we made the move when we decided to make the move.

Walang problem sa mga nurses here in OZ. They really need nurses in Aged care or nursing homes. It's not difficult to find work here. Kaya I encourage pinoy nurses to apply for work visa or do bridging/ bachelor/ conversion courses. :)

    Why are you alarmed @schmendrick?

That is really how it goes, it will not be feasible if they continue bringing in more skilled migrant while at the same time the demand for such occupation is decreasing... They will be able to free up some slots for other skills.

This will probably take into effect IF IMPLEMENTED by the next cycle which is July 1 2014...

@Betchay Hi! Yup, tama po. Hanggang wala ka pa invitation to apply for visa, kasama ka sa mga occupation ceilings. Like for my case, nag file ako EOI.. pero na-hold nila mga IT occupations. I had to wait na mag open ulet ANZCO Code 261311, then I got the visa invitation. Mag pasked ka na rin ng IELTS para nde sayang ang oras mo sa pag aantay ng ACS. ACS now takes about 3 months to process. Good luck!
