Hi Guys, Question lang about sa reading part ng IELTS, pwede mo ba balikan yung mga passage to answer the questions or babasahin mo lang sya once then aalisin na nila? TIA!
pwede mo sila balikan ang publema mo sa reading oras....yung passage pag binasa mo lahat...sections 2 and 3 which is the skimming part lang...tapos ka...
sobrang haba nun pag hindi mo prinactice yung fast skim at key word underlining...asahan mo mauubusan ka oras dito
section 1 chillax lang kasi bibigyan ka nang maiksing passage (for me general) then pwede mo pa siya basahin pero dapat medyo mabilis
section 2 bibigyan ka nang different letters na may maliliit na passage a - g then may set of questions na itatanong sayo hindi siya obviously corelated dun sa passages...
section 3 mas mahabang passage parang maiksing novel or knowledge base na research... then may set of questions to justify if kung true or false or ano yung title nang kada passage from paragraphs 1-7 match accordingly...
tip ko is habang nagrereview ka orasan mo sarili mo sa pagbabasa probably 15mins then see to it kung naintindihan mo yung binasa mo then answer mo questions
then if ever kaya mo underline mo mga key words na tingin mo pwede maging reference
sana informative tong shinare ko...: )
I haven't lost everything except my mind...

@Al5yd the question booklet will be with you for 60 minutes (reading test duration). And gaya ng sabi ni @thegreatiam15 skimming, yan po ang technique you don't have to read per lines, take note of the keywords. practice makes perfect. At kung masasanay mo rin ang sarili mo na hanapin yung sagot sa tanong mismo it also helps a lot. Goodluck!

@sonsi_03@thegreatiam15 Thanks to the both of you. may Cambridge IELTS reviewer ako and medyo easy nga yung first parts, pero yung succeeding passages pahirap ng pahirap. at least pwede sulatan/underline-nan yung booklets so makakatulong din. Thanks again guys.

I am truly fascinated by this model essay who goes by the name Brian Sioson. He got 9.0 in Writing and is one of Niners Lecturer/Coach in the Philippines.
How I wish I write like this. haha. Although sobrang haba naman 498 words!!
Today, there is insufficient respect to the elderly by the younger individuals. What do you think are the reasons? What are its effects to the society?
In the past, our elders were regarded by many as pillars of wisdom. They were once respected and admired like the oldest trees that bear the sweetest fruit, the majestic colonnades that have withstood the test of time, or the musical instruments that have sounded richer and more provoking with time's passing. However, at present, they only exist to serve as skeletal reminders of how spiteful and disrespectful our world has become to the elderly.
Today's society is one that exclusively advocates the youth and disregards the aged. Ours is a government and media structure that poisons our minds to believe that the youth are shining beacons of hope while the elderly are just tarnished relics of times gone by. Because of this impression, some young people tend to perceive the elderly as incapable of providing any benefit to their families and the society.
Furthermore, we now live in the so-called disposable era, where our twisted culture has compelled us to assume that everything that has served its purpose must be discarded. Hence even our seniors, whose roles are mistakenly thought of as antiquated and irrelevant, are shunned by the public.
Respect to the elderly can be gleaned at home or in schools. However our busy and demanding lifestyle has offered few parents the luxury of time to discipline and supervise their children. Even schools have failed to teach the youth about basic courtesy in the community. Because of this, younger individuals tend to assimilate the wrong set of values, making them impertinent, if not aggressive towards the weaker members of the community, particularly the elderly.
Clearly the modern world has become the most unfriendly place for our seniors. These days, it is not anymore uncommon to hear stories about old people being assaulted, abused, disparaged, denied of employment, confined in nursing homes, forcefully retired, or made to pay unreasonable insurance policies. Yet, we fail to realize that in maltreating our elders, we lose a significant part of our humanity, for they are the sources of our wisdom, knowledge and inspiration. They are repositories of insights that define the texture of the delicate fabric of our culture and society. Surely, there are a lot of things we could learn from our seniors if we only cared to listen. However, since a lot of us have opted to drive them away, we have lost much from our once vibrant culture, including values, traditions, family stories, wise advises and the lessons in life that are learned the hard way.
Indeed, the contemporary world is not the most propitious place for the elderly to live with a sense of dignity or die in a state of grace, not because many people deliberately disrespect them but because few are willing to fan the dying embers of their legacy and impart it to the future generations.

@basti oo nga sobrang galing naman nya to develop something like that in just 40 minutes!
Really? kanina lang? wow what a coincidence! haha. I've read the essay in the review material of my sibling who went to that review center before. I've been reading the model essays from there and their range of vocabulary is really wide.

Lagi ko kasi nakikita sa mga dating nagtest na kasama yun sa tanong sa kanila and naniniguro lang po ako na tama yung isasagot ko

@abraham Nope. I'm here in Malaysia.hehe. onga may mga tao talagang talented gaya nia. For him, writing is just a walk in the park.haha
I'm currently enrolled in a review center as well here in MY. But I would say, it's not as intensive as I thought it would be. It's more like an english classroom discussion. The lectures are not in-depth. I was looking for more strategies on how to attack questions like TFNG etc. I'd say using the internet is much better. They only serve as your guide or backbone. Kaya sa bahay ko nalang tinotodo ang review. Cambridge and other review materials. Unlike in one of the review center in the Phil. almost everyday daw sila may exam and the teaching is really intensive.
But on the bright side, their good in speaking and binabawi ko nalang sa writing. I have written around 20 Writing Task 1 and 10 Writing Task 2 and have it reviewed by them. All WT1 question from the most recent exams posted in ielts-blog.com. For the past 2-3 weeks, I've focused on Writing task. Ngayon singit2 na ulit ng reading and listening.
How's your review so far?

Ako din naguluhan eh... Hehe.. Yup, I am referring na nandito ka sa thread ng IELTS. Mukhang way way ahead ka na sa pag rereview ng IELTS. kaka start ko lang magreview last Feb 3. Although I enrolled in a review center since Dec 2013 pa. I am still a full time employee kase and medyo mahirap mag manage ng time sa pag rereview since I am on a rotating shift. Pero this next few weeks I will take it serious na and put it on the next level. Student mode at the same time working parin. Hindi kaya kung mag aaral lang ako eh. Your right, malaking percentage ang pag pasa sa ACS and IELTS. Although right now I still don't have any idea where to get the Visa Fee. Hehe.. But I know God Will Provide .
Malaking tulong din ung mga links na nakita ko dito sa thread na to. Very helpful din. Hindi ko pa nga lang na tignan lahat. Information over load na eh. hehe..

@abraham yup although I started na rin mag-self review last December, ngayon lang din ako nakapag-focus ng todo. Hopefully you can manage your time to review na at makapag-ielts na rin para makapag-lodge na ng Visa before any horrible changes pa ang ma-implement sa July 2014 like ibalik ulit sa 65 points ang pass mark or tanggalin na ang Computer Programmers sa SOL. In regard to the Visa application fee, kahit ako din di ko alam where to get that huge amount haha pero madali na lang yan basta pasado na sa IELTS and ACS. By the way, congrats for moving into the 2nd stage sa ACS. Ako stage 1 pa din.hehe
Exactly. laki ng tulong ng mga links dito such as those provided by imeetr, filipinacpa etc. Download mo lang then on your spare time, basa-basahin mo coz they are really helpful.

Hi po fellow pinoyau peeps. New po ako dito and I am about to take my IELTS test this month.
Hello @ozdreamer0323 once he/she asked for your ID abot mo lang yung passport mo (both hands para medyo formal) sabay simpleng "sure" lang sasabihin mo, konting smile. You have to be well connected at comfortable sa loob ng 15 minutes na yan, say as much as you can na related sa tanong (sabihin naman ng examiner kung tama na). Maski pa magkukumpas ka doon para makatulong mai-express mo yung idea mo or point mo.
Goodluck!

Question lang about sa reading part ng IELTS, pwede mo ba balikan yung mga passage to answer the questions or babasahin mo lang sya once then aalisin na nila? TIA!

sobrang haba nun pag hindi mo prinactice yung fast skim at key word underlining...asahan mo mauubusan ka oras dito
section 1 chillax lang kasi bibigyan ka nang maiksing passage (for me general) then pwede mo pa siya basahin pero dapat medyo mabilis
section 2 bibigyan ka nang different letters na may maliliit na passage a - g then may set of questions na itatanong sayo hindi siya obviously corelated dun sa passages...
section 3 mas mahabang passage parang maiksing novel or knowledge base na research...
then may set of questions to justify if kung true or false or ano yung title nang kada passage from paragraphs 1-7 match accordingly...
tip ko is habang nagrereview ka orasan mo sarili mo sa pagbabasa probably 15mins then see to it kung naintindihan mo yung binasa mo then answer mo questions
then if ever kaya mo underline mo mga key words na tingin mo pwede maging reference
sana informative tong shinare ko...: )
