Question about Taxation in Australia

As we are new dito sa Aussie, every interview na pinupuntahan ni hubby, he's always being asked bout his rate and if he has a company of just representing himself. I believe this has something to do about tax deduction. Naiisip ko tuloy na normal yung registering or filing in behalf of a company kukuha ka lang ng directors mo (like your unemployed partner, etc) then you'll get lower tax. May nagmention din samin nito in passing during dinner though hinde namin masyado pinapansin kase it sounds dodgy.

So to all the experienced workers here...can you tell me what's up with that.

Thanks.

Dun naman po sa spouse tax offsets, yep, marami pong ganun but you need to be a resident for two years (I think) before you can start declaring offsets or deductions :)

Ang unemployed partner ok gawin director, but I doubt if pwede mo I claim as 'paid' employee. Yung ganun instance kasi dapat parehong my pinapasok na income sa company.

Maraming IT consultants na nag set-up nang company at ok naman yon.

On the other hand, teammate ko na-audit nang ATO.

So hindi to dodgy, pero pag-aralan nyo lang mabuti and consult a really good accountant.

    Hi Meemooh!

Pwede po kayo mag salary sacrifice at the start and in the middle ng employment. You can ask to salary sacrifice at any time.

    Kind regards,
