Question about ACT Occupation List for State Nomination (Visa 190)

emonsantoemonsanto MandaluyongPosts: 66Member
Under ACT Occupation List for visa 190, there are jobs that are categorized as "Limited", which was defined as "Occupations must be verified before the application for nomination is lodged."

Does this mean there should be a job offer for application on this nominated occupation?

Or does it mean that every application for limited nominated occupation should be checked first by the ACT immigration body?

Thanks!

Have you had your skills assessed? If not, I suggest getting that paper first and then checking the occupations again.

    20110812 - Submitted Vetassess docs
    20120403 - Received positive assessment
    20130622 - Took the IELTS exam (L:8, R:7, W:8.5, S:8.5, OBS:8)
20131008 - Created and submitted EOI account
20131216 - Started gathering documents for ACT SS
20140113 - Submitted ACT SS nomination
    20140227 - assigned a case officer :)
20140317 - Finally got my ACT sponsorship!
    20140319 - Invited to apply (visa 190)
    20140325 - Lodged visa 190
    20140718 - Direct visa grant. IED: July 17, 2015
20150203 - Landed in ACT :) Job hunt begins
201510 - Started working at Woolies
20161031 - landed a job in my field as a junior
20180508 - landed a job in my field

Thank you God! You are truly amazing!

got mine verified as occupation was already on limited status.

like what bookworm mentioned, get your skills assessed first as this is part of the requirements

as for the job offer, none is required. although you need to research and submit job vacancies that fit your nominated occupation (also part of the requirements in obtaining a 190 visa)

for your 2nd query, as far as I know all occupations on limited status should be verified first. from experience, if you have completed the documents needed for verifying an occupation on limited status, the rest will be smooth sailing as most of the documents you will be needing to submit will be relatively the same.

    All the best!

I haven't had my skills assessed yet, as I'm still completing my CDR. But I'm now on my 3rd essay and I'm looking forward to submitting the document to EA.

Thanks for the informative replies, bookworm and carboy!

Question po. My sister will be applying for act state sponsorship as a retail buyer. One of the requirements is to provide atleast five job postings in your nominated occupation that is relevant to your skill set. But the problem is when i look up at seek.com there is no job opening for retail buyer. My question is pwede ba na she will provide other job postings na hindi mismo "retail buyer" but still relevant to her skill set?like jobs in retail/merchandising etc? May nakaexperience nadin po b neto pero nakakuha padin ng state sponsorship?

correct me if I wrong...just guessing lang din...try to check ung task list ng nominated apps mo then prob you can cross check it againts sa duties and responsibilities nung mga ads na nakuha mo and see if nag-fit ung desc. hindi naman siguro kailangan lahat...

sa case ko kasi I am still looking for Job ads kasi a limited din ung nominated occupation ko. bale ICT trainer ung nominated ko pero wala naman akong makita ng ang direct title is ICT trainer so what I did is to check ung task list and cross check...kulang pa naman ako ng ng job ads, still searching pa din.

just to clarify na lang din and base on my exp, still waiting for result pero naka pag submit na ako.

Does this mean there should be a job offer for application on this nominated occupation?
not necessarily na merong job offer job ads na within ACT lang ang need nila just to make sure na merong demand sa skill set na un.

Or does it mean that every application for limited nominated occupation should be checked first by the ACT immigration body?
yes. once na na print or saved mo as pdf file, you'll send it sa immi ng canberra plust the write-up detailing kung bakit ka karadapat-dapat sa work na un. gaano ka-related ung edu qualification mo and work experience mo sa list na un. meron naman guideline para dun sa write-up. make sure na kita ung date, esp ung place. they would really check the website nung job ads na pinasa mo (gut feel) ko lang. my explanation is stated below.

just to share my exp on this, meron akong 2 job ads na nakalagay na place is canberra pero ang actual na job is in NSW (di ko rin naman sigurado so sinubmit ko na din) so ni-reject nila un but praise God kasi ung 5 pa na sinumbmit ko is in Canberra talaga. I've submitted 7 job ads.

kung kulang naman they would advice you na mag-submit. nung magtanon ako dati is sabi nile at least 4 weeks ung time frame para sa mga job ads...
