There are many temptations na rin, like Canada just opened their Federal Skilled Worker programs to more occupations, including mine.. But I won't give up Australia! I think we're all getting there soon. Haha tiyaga tiyaga lang. Haha

@chu_se great!:) I just requested from BC to schedule my speaking exam on the same day with my written test. Para isang kabahan nalang. Hehe

Right now, i'm just reading and answering all simon's exercises on his website. He has plenty of useful tips there.:)

@chu_se ung sa cambridge na reviewer na nai-share na dito.. try mo practice sagutin sya, kung kaya mo lahat from Cambridge 1-9 mas okay.. parang per book, 4 or 6 sets ata un.. sobrang helpful nun kasi ung mga iaask halos same din.. sakin ang nataon about reading, kung mahilig bako magbasa etc. buti nagbabasa ako sa tunay na buhay kaya medyo nakarelate ako.. pero ung mga modules, makakahelp sau para ma-gauge mo panu mo sagutin ung mga tanong.

then impt din na may variety ka sa vocab mo like inde mo inuulit-ulit ung words, hanap kang synonym nya

saka before kaw speaking, inhale exhale hehe & shempre ienjoy mo lang na magsalita nang magsalita.

Hello po, here's my 2nd attempt result:

L - 8.0
R - 7.0
W - 6.5
S - 6.5

Ayan sablay na naman. huhu gusto ko na magpagulong gulong sa lupa!

Admittedly hindi ako nakakapag review ng maayos. This is the thing I can't afford, to have ample time to review. Palaging busy kaya ayan palaging sablay.

Yung reading ko bumaba pero di kasi ako nagreview na sa reading. Yung writing ko naman bumagsak and I know it's because I don't have much knowledge about the topic(competitive sport). Eto ang hindi ko magets kung papaano ko maipapasa next time. Paano ba maging band 7 sa speaking? I can commnunicate well naman po pero baket kaya di ako maka7?

Lesson learned, kulang ako sa praktis kaya eto ang dapat ko careerin. Dibdiban na pagrereview ko. Sa speaking eto ang hindi ko pa maintindihan kung baket ako sumasablay.

Question po sa mga nakapagtake na ng exam. I am about to book my exam sa IELTS online. May optional choice don about sending the results. Do I need to tick that now or shall I request a copy once na magsubmit na ko ng assessment sa EA? Then don sa choice na Recognising Organization - parang by state yung EA? San po ba dapat magsubmit non? Cenxa na first stage pa lang and I still have a long way to go.

My result of my IELTS taken last 12/04/2014:

Listening - 9.0
Reading - 8.5
Writing - 7.0
Speaking - 8.5

Thank you sa mga tips sa thread na to. Ng pa schedule pa naman ako sa May 10 ulit. Pero try ko to get a higher result pa in writing. The most useful reviewer na nakuha ko dito? Topics of ielts simon. It will help you sa writing and speaking. All of you taking the test should read it and check the website. Practice and do your best. And pray. A lot.

@bait0211 are you here in Philippines? If yes, I think you have to choose the options on how you'd like the hard copy of your test result to be given. Perhaps you could either choose whether to pick it up from BC or IDP office, or they can either mail it to you via LBC or you can choose to just pick it up from LBC.

If you're in hurry to get your test result, choose to pick it up from BC/IDP office mismo as it would be available on the same release day of the result..

Where specifically did you take your exam? Have you checked if you have the same examiner from your first exam with your last test?

Help!

My online payment with British Council for the IELTS registration always fails. Any body here knows the work around for this? I am using a friend's card and I have all the details needed.

BUT, I am not sure yet if my friend is using SecureCode which might be the reason for all of these.

Any insights?

@filipinacpa BC Manila po. Same as before. Filipina yung examiner ko nung first take then guy foreigner yung latest. I think I did well on my last speaking test kasi nakarelate ako sa topic but it's a moot point. Moving forward I'll take enough time to study and try ko naman IDP hehe.

@markier87 Normally, credit card companies provides secure code to their CC holders for online transactions. if you've been redirected to another link where the site is asking for a secure code, then your friend has to input his/her personal code for the payment to be successful. If he isn't aware of his/her secure code yet, he/she have to contact the credit card company.

Hi Everyone. I was lurking at this thread for the longest time and I thought its time share a few tips. I took the April 5 exam and thankfully nakapasa.

1. The ebook 'Ace the IELTS' by Simone Braverman really helped me a lot. I kicked off my review by reading this book. I think the tips and tricks in this book is enough para gamiting strategy when taking the exam. (I read this book 3-4 times para marecall ko yung mga tips nya and it proved to be very useful)

2. Listening(L) and Reading(R). Medyo mahirap sya sa umpisa - either ang daming mali or lagpas sa allowed time ang nauubos ko - pero after taking 3 or 4 exams nagimprove naman ang score ko at natatapos ko na sya within the time limit. When checking for answers, inaalam ko din ano ang tamang sagot and as much as possible I try to understand bakit yun ang sagot. Sa L, merong transcript lahat ng conversation kaya chinicheck ko din saang part ako nagkamali at naconfuse. General Tip on L and R: Practice. Practice. Practice.

3. Writing. I started reviewing for the writing exam after 2 weeks (The first 2 weeks were entirely dedicated to L and R exams). I think dito ako nagkamali. I should have started practicing two weeks ago (or earlier pa)! On the first 2-3 days, inaabot ako ng 2 hours sa pagsusulat. Ang tagal ko gumawa ng intro. Ang tagal kong makagawa ng outline. I started to become frustrated and nervous at the same time. Sa office, nagsusulat ako ng isang part2 essay pag lunch time at isang part 1 kapag afternoon break tapos later in the evening magtatake ulit ako ng tig-isang exam. Pero kapos parin sa oras. May mga times pa nga na di ko natatapos yung essay - either wealang conclusion, or walang intro. My wife saw my frustration and gave me the best advice: Take a time off. So 2 days akong di nagreview and after nun binasa ko ulit si #1. I also read the writing tips given by Simon (ielts-simon.com) - malaking tulong din. From there, I stopped writing essays muna. Triny kong gumawa ng outline and then practiced kung paano itransform yung Task to a short but appropriate 1st paragraph. Ayun! On my succeding tries nakakatapos na ko ng tama sa oras. General Tip: make sure you were able to do (write about) all the task.

4. Speaking. I wasn't able to prepare for this part kasi kinapos ako sa oras. On the exam day nakikining pa ko ng practice speaking exams sa youtube while waiting for my turn. Then, binasa ko ulit si #1. General Tip: Iwasan ang pagiisip kung ano ang isasagot. As much as possible iwasan ang 'ahhh' at 'eeh'. Ang important tama ang grammar mo at maintindihan ka ng examiner mo. During my exam medyo nagkabuhol buhol ako ng sinabi. I stopped, smile, and inulit ko ulit yung sagot ko.

Overall, practice talaga ang kailangan. Ulit lang ng ulit, practice lang ng practice. Sabi nga, "Familiarity is the key to mastery". One must dedicate his/her time in reviewing for the exam; di pwede yung kapag may spare time lang. I only have 1 month to prepare for the exam and I made sure na everyday I spend atleast 2-3 hours sa pagrereview. I usually go home from work at 6-7 pm tapos di ako agad nakakareview kasi ang ingay ng baby ko; usually mga 9 or 10 pm pa ko nakaksimula. It helps din kung may partner kayo na magpupush. There were times na tinatamad ako but my wife kept on pushing me, minsan nagaaway na nga kami. But there are days na talagang wasted ka na or frustrating; in that case nagiistop na din ako then bawi nalang sa office kinabukasan during breaks.

@filipinacpa 55 points po if wala po ielts pero pwede sya maging 60 if possible na ipare-assess ko yung ACS RPL ko para maging 8yrs work experience. In the end, I still need to attain band 7 because that is the qualification for my nominated occupation. review review na lang talaga ulet. nabubuhayan naman ako ng loob kapag nababasa ko mga post dito hehe

@enayam16 bale I graduated po with B.S. Chemical Engineering degree. I initially submitted ACS under General Skills but the ACS advised to apply under RPL. Thanks.
