Was considering this too.

Re: NAATI - challenge accepted! LOL

Deh, pag lang may time na siguro ako. Mahilig talaga akong mag-exam eh, I like challenging myself. :P

Siguro mas madali pang mag-aral na lang ng course para maging accredited translator. Yun nga lang matagal siguro at magastos.

From another forum: NAATI test - What to expect

It seems like a tall order and too much effort to put in for such a small reward, unless this is going to be your livelihood as well (not even sure if it's in the SOL/CSOL).

Might be easier to just ace the IELTS and get full points, or to claim partner points.

@duffygurl Yup, it takes lots of practice. AND reading.

You need to read a lot because that's how you can expand your vocabulary and learn about different writing styles. I'd suggest reading Op-Ed articles in major broadsheets just to give you an idea how different views and ideas can be presented in writing.

Took the paraprofessional interpreter test last October and I got a nice Christmas gift. Pasado hehe. It was easier to interpret from Filipino to English than the other way around.

Tips if you are thinking of going through with this exam.

    1. It is expensive $1,100(approx) and results will take 6-10 weeks.

    2. Get a test kit. You would probably do well in the interpretation part of the exam but the ethics and cultural awareness parts are tricky.

    3. Practice. Observe what part causes you difficulty. In my case English to Filipino. Example interpret the words 'flyers and brochures' into Filipino.

    4. You can ask for a repeat of a phrase. Use it.

    5. Relax.

Hope this helps others who are thinking of taking the exam.
    :)

FYI lang..and update na din sa thread na toh.. mejo nag research din kasi ako kung gaano ka feasible aralin toh hehe..

simula ng 01 Jan 2018, nag introduce si NAATI ng bagong test na ang tawag ay CCL (Credentialed Community Language) Ito na yung test para sa pag kuha nung 5 points.

Dati, yung mga hopefuls ay pwedeng kumuha ng para-professional OR professional level test para ma-claim yung 5 points, and it was possible to take the test on 12 overseas locations.

Ngayon, itong CCL test ay sa Au lang pwedeng i-take. walang overseas location.

Also, yung CCL test ay para lang makapag claim ng migration points. Separate ito dun sa tinatawag na NAATI certification, para makapag trabaho as a translator/interpreter. Para maging certified, iba naman ang pathway para dun. :)

so far, sa June 2018 pa ulit pwedeng mag submit ng application for testing
