@lock_code2004 . not sure about TAFE. but my husband is bridging his nursing degree through uni (as domestic student kasi PR kami) and we were able to negotiate to prove his english proficiency by a certificate from his school in the philippines, saying that english was the medium of instruction while he was studying. sana ok lang din sa TAFE walang IELTS pag PR naman. :)

hindi po kaya dahil requirement ng nursing degree for the purpose of becoming a Registered Nurse? at dahil sa overseas ang initial qualification nya?

kasi si sabi ni madam @kenkoy, nakapag enrolled daw sya sa TAFE... as far as i know kadadating lang nila as PR sa AU..

Hi guys, I remembered starting this thread around almost 3 months back...

Today, 1 month na kami sa Melbourne. So far no luck yet in getting a job but cge lang, fight lang ng fight...

Anyway, I am working on a Certificate 2 in Tourism at the moment though thru the Flight Centre Travel Academy - it is a Certificate II in Tourism and hopefully it can be able to help me land a job afterwards with the company. The program will run for 2 wks intensive classroom session and some online module.

Oh yeah, VIC subsidized me heavily on the tuition fee for this.

Are you looking for Accounting/ Auditing jobs there in Melbourne? I heard medyo competitive environment nga daw jan. Goodluck makakahanap din kayo. Critical talaga first job, afterwards ok na. Have you tried applying in Audit firms for the meantime? Saan ba usually hanapan ng work jan sa SEEK din ba? Or may mga jobs din sa newspapers like Straight Times like dito sa SG.

Thanks for the input mga kapatid. I'm actually including 'school fees' as part of our budget preparation for our Oz move. Alam ko kasing somehow it will be of a help for me and my hubby. I've already started looking at TAFE for courses that we can take. Particularly sa akin coz I plan on shifting a career.

It's good to hear na may mga 2-week intensive courses pala @psychoboy . Salamat sa info.

Question po: any other sites that I can look into other than TAFE?

@alexamae nursing in au is 3 years. If not p.r. Tuition is 20 k aud per year... Ask rommel:) he is currently studying nursing in nsw:)

As a nurse in au, i think na the market for nurses is still there but very competitive for people na wlang 2-3 years experience still hard to find jobs.

As for accounting, my ate is also an accountant but currently not working just had a baby. But her friends na CPA certified here..i am not familiar with the terms pero from pinas nag aral sila here..took an exam here in au.. Even with that some had to wait 6 months to 1 year to find a job. Competitive yung employment in au.

Natawa ako backreading the thread.. Somebody was thinking my part time job waiting on tables for 50 aud an hour.. Hahahaha! Anung country kaya meron nyan? If ganyan sweldo ng waiter.. I think mag shift na din ako:p

@alexamae i don't know..other filipinos in the hospital i work with are cleaners, porters aside from nurses (majority) and doctors (kunti lang pinoy doctors in au pero meron naman).

even the medtechs back home are finding it hard to get here.. kasi the phlebotomists here or blood sisters are different from a medical scientist (one who analyze the samples which is trabaho ng medtechs natin pero di credited dito ung medtech degree sa pinas hangang phlebotomist lang ung medtech natin.)

o.t. and p.t. here ma dugo. i have not met one in our hospital. bridging plus may exams sila both written and practical. so bihira lang may pinoy kasi expensive and walang assurance if one can pass both.

nursing aids/ caregivers... certificate course yan or trabaho ng mga nurses na di nag bridging orhindi ielts passer required for registration 7 in all kasi or nursing students. do i recommend you do this? no, kasi it is physically exhausting you will bathe and feed patients talaga who can weigh as much as 100kg to 200kg! true may hoist and lifts..pero still.. if you haven't wipe shit of an obese man before let me tell you it is not pretty sight. pero ok din sometimes if you get a tech aid job which is restocking/ sterilizing equipment lang.

if you are not willing to do the full leg work to be a nurse/ot or pt.. 3 years uni degree. i suggest you stick to what you do best. kasi it will be a more expensive route if you just do part time studies.. ang tagal ma tapos.

    just my two cents:)

@kenkoy Wow. Balitaan mo kami how it goes. Mukhang mas maganda mag-aral ulit kapag PR instead of Temporary Resident. Tanong lang po, ano documents ang pinasa ninyo to apply sa TAFE? Hindi ko mahanap requirements, pasensya na. Kailangan ba ng Diploma translated in English tsaka TOR?

    Hi all!

Kung permanent resident ka na, pwede kang mag-apply sa universities (probably for a Masters na related sa course mo) for a commonwealth-supported place (CSP). this means babayaran ng government ang 2/3 ng course fees mo. If mag-part time ka lang (nights) its only around $4000 a year, and you might finish in 2- 3 years. :- ) What's great about this is if you do well, maganda ang practical placement ng mga top unis here (like Melbourne Uni, etc.)...

@Electrical_Engr_CDR I know of a few who tried asking for fee help for bridging course. but was unsuccessful kasi di pumasa sa criteria.

ang alam pwede lng sya if mag upskilling ka..for example mag bridging k now. tapos aphra registered k n tapos gusto m mag masters degree in nursing tsaka k qualified mag ask for fee help...

ito lng ang nabasa k sa previous forums i think it was allnurses.com

@Electrical_Engr_CDR Kuya, your case got me curious and I made some research eto yung links
    http://studyassist.gov.au/sites/StudyAssist/HELPpayingMyFees/FEE-HELP/pages/bridging-study

I think what you need to look for are eligible IRON programs that accept govt subsidy. But not sure which IRON provider is eligible though you might need to ask around.

@tooties thank you for your input.

@Electrical_Engr_CDR Kasi yung medyo mahaba ang IRON program is in South Australia by University of South Australia or (UNISa) 4.5months sya instead of 3 months. Most likely may additional subjects cguro yun may kamahalan lng nga around 15k ata yun.
