Visa After Student Visa Questions

Hello everyone, first time to post here. I'm holding a student visa that will expire after a year. I'm taking up Certificate 3 in Comercial Cookery and is there any way for me to lodge a bridging visa afterwards? I'm thinking of asking for immigration lawyers for help but I'm scared they might overcharge me. Any advises will be greatly appreciated!

thank you!

@lorraineroar - hi, what visa type will be applying for after your student visa?

according to DIAC, you can apply for a Bridging visa if you current visa is expiring and waiting for the result of your new visa..

    you have two options:
    1) look for an employer who can sponsor (visa 457)...
    2) since nasa CSOL sched 2 ang Chef/Cook.. you can apply for a skilled migrant Visa 190 - state sponsorship... or Visa 489 - regional sponsorship...

Chef/cook is in demand in WA.. it is there in their list of occupation.. check their website google mo lang "Western Australia immigration"

My brother also just completed culinary in the phils, and we are looking for different options for him, either employer, skilled migrant, or get apply a student visa first for cert3 or 4 cookery...

i suggest read this thread to start:
