Hi everyone. Would like to ask on the following:

*Sa mga andyan na sa AU.
how much usually is the average cost of a second/third hand cars, especially in Victoria?
and where to find car deals na legit?

*Sa pag big move nyo, if PR visa, did you just present the following in the PH immig?
    Passport
    Visa/VEVO grant letter
    Tickets
    Travel tax exemption

*Travel Tax exemption- sa airport lang to makukuha right? same lane as the travel tax payment?

    *additional big move concerns:
    1) How much maximum pocket money is allowed? what site can we use as reference on the rules?
    2) Pwd bang I will just open the international access of my bank ATM cards, then use AU ATMachines there? or bank transfer from PH bank to AU bank account once I will open an AU bank account? forex loss nga lang for sure
    3) Do we still need to register with the CFO and have a seminar?

    Thanks in advance

Sino po ba dito ang bago pa lang talaga nakapag BIG MOVE, like this month or 2 months ago?

    Welcome to Adelaide!

May I know if we are allowed to bring books in Australia (textbooks, novels or notebooks)?

If they're personal belongings and you've owned them for at least 12 months, I think they should be fine. I've brought some books with me here even if I'm a temporary visa holder and there was no issue naman.

No limit naman AFAIK. Basta pag more than AUD 10K value (in total ha, no matter what currency it is), you have to declare it. Wala naman silang gagawin sa pera mo; you just have to declare. If you bring more than AUD 10K and you don't declare, there's a risk that they'll seize your money or ma-penalize ka. The purpose of declaration is to assure customs officers that you're not involved with money laundering. Have a look at the link below, apparently you now have to fill up an online form if you're bringing more than AUD 10K into the country:

    https://austrac.gov.au/individuals/moving-money-across-international-borders

    2) Pwd bang I will just open the international access of my bank ATM cards, then use AU ATMachines there? or bank transfer from PH bank to AU bank account once I will open an AU bank account? forex loss nga lang for sure

Yes, you can use your PH cards in Australia. Just advise your card-issuing bank that you will be traveling overseas (para hindi nila i-block yung card mo when you withdraw funds overseas). Just check what the rate/cost of withdrawing from overseas ATMs though. Usually your card will be charged by the local ATM to use their machine, but I don't know if your PH bank will also charge you another fee for actually using your card overseas. Personally though, I've only done that once with my PH credit card and it was for an emergency. I don't remember how much the fee was, but nowadays I'd rather pay with local debit card para less worry on bank/ATM fees. Opening an AU bank account is relatively easy and they'll issue you your debit card within a few days.

If you will transfer funds from PH bank to AU bank, don't forget to ask your PH bank what information they need to be able to transfer to an Australian bank account (i.e. SWIFT/BIC codes), and if you have to enroll it in your online/mobile banking. Medyo iba kasi ang banking details nila in Australia (6-digit BSB and 6-digit account number), so just check with your PH bank. Once you've opened up a bank account in Australia, ask your bank for their SWIFT/BIC code (or you can check them through your AU bank's app).

Another option would be to convert your PHP cash to USD, tapos ipapalit mo nalang to AUD pagdating mo? But of course, check the rates kung mas beneficial ang PHP>USD>AUD rates, or PHP>AUD.

Abangan nalang sa Black Friday Sale and Cyber Monday Sale hehe

If you really want to bring them, maybe package them properly (bubble wrap or styro then put in a box). But make sure you buy/bring adapters kasi Type I ang plug nila dito, whereas Type A ang sa pinas.

Is it a new PC? baka mas less hassle pa to sell that and buy a new one in Australia, and then buy during boxing day, black friday, or cyber monday.

Importante rin yung extension outlet/power strip from Philippines and AU adaptor. Magagamit mo yun kung techie person ka when you bring your gadgets sa AU.

No limit on how much you can bring. As @Josef said, anything more than $10,000 (total value, no matter what currency), you have to declare it. Wala naman silang gagawin sa pera mo kung more than $10k ang dala mo (I believe the purpose of them asking is to prevent money laundering). Kung big move ka na talaga, I doubt it's a problem to move a big amount of money kasi migrant ka. Pero kung hindi ka magdeclare at nag-inspect sila at nakita nilang more than $10k ang dala mo, baka iconfiscate yung pera mo, so better declare talaga to be safe.

If you don't have a job lined up when you move, bring at least 3 month's worth of living expenses on, since you wouldn't know how long it'll take to find a full time job. If you're migrating by yourself, AUD 1500-2000 per month for living expenses is feasible (especially kung matipid ka), so AUD 4500-6000 should be ok. If you're bringing a partner and children, you will need a higher amount.

I recommend a higher amount kasi Australia has this concept of rental bond/deposit when you start renting, which is usually 2-4 weeks' worth of rent. I.e. if your weekly rent is AUD 250 and the bond is 4 weeks, you need to pay AUD 250 x 4 = AUD 1000 for the rental bond, plus yung actual rent that you have to pay (usually paid fortnightly, but depending on your arrangement with landlord, it could be weekly or monthly).

Thank you.

Only bring enough for 3 months for OTC meds as paracetamol, antihistamine, etc. meron naman dito (i.e. Priceline, Chemist Warehouse).

If may prescription ka for maintenance meds, bring your Rx when you bring your meds with you. When you get onshore, maybe consult a GP/physician about your condition so they can verify your condition and prescribe your meds (I don't think local pharmacies/chemists recognize Rx from overseas).

Hello po sa lahat :) Sorry for this noob question. If 16k AUD po ang total na dadalhin na cash ng couple traveling to Australia, tapos they decide to break it up into two, 8k bawat isa.
