Moving to another country while waiting for grant?

edited September 2023 in Working and skilled visas

Hi! I’m PH-based and currently waiting for my grant (about 7 months in na), and I’m contemplating relocating to another country for my job for 1 year. I don’t have plans on really settling in that country as I’m still intent on settling sa Australia, so I'm trying to see if may repercussions sa application/PR ko if I grab the opportunity.

Questions:

  • May issue ba if I move while waiting for my grant? What actions would I need to take on my application?
  • May issue ba if I move after being granted? From my research, mukhang okay lang to not be in Australia agad—I plan to make my first entry naman.
  • Anything else I should take into account about my application/PR?

Hope someone can help!

@era222 If you feel that this is a great opportunity, I'd personally suggest going for it. Don't hold back on possible doors opening up for you. I don't think merong repercussion yan. :)

I believe you just need to inform on the change of country of residence (I'm unable confirm the exact link sa ImmiAccount since it's currently under maintenance, but it's one of the options somewhere inside the visa application itself).

Once ma-grant na, dun ka na lang mag plan when you will be permanently moving to Aus, mag first entry ka na lang muna to activate the visa.

Tingin ko hindi ka naman na hihingan ng add'l police check rin for the new country, probably unless mag tagal ka dun for more than a year tapos wala ka pang grant (wag naman sana di ba haha jusko).

    P.S.

@era222 You got an agent, right? Ultimately, best to consult them too. :)

Thanks! I'll look into the part about "change country of residence"—this helps. And yep, also asked my agent, just wanted to do my own research too / get some firsthand/secondary experiences or insights din, if someone had done the same and experienced any problems. :)

    Hope someone can help!

I also had the same experience this year. Resigned from Singapore and moved here to PH. Waiting for 189 grant.

I just updated my current country of residence and also updated the notification of changes, notifying I am no longer working in SG which I declared during the lodged.

Medyo kabado din baka it affect my application but my agent just advised to update these. 🙏
