Hello good day po.

Aims is prang certification sa australia.

@ska1119 oh my!!! Hulog ka ng langit! lol! Sobrang salamat for this comment of urs..ang babaw man pero nakatulong sakin to realize something! lol! How stupid of me to not even realize this before! Sorry huh, hndi kasi ganong ka-deep ang infos ko about AIMS and immigrants applying outside of Australia..nabasa ko dati dto sa thread na may mga state pa before na natanggap kahit Medical laboratory assistant ang applayan at hndi pa ngtake ng exam? pero ngyn wala ng ganon? tama ba?

Un bang assessment ng AIMS ng qualifications natin from Philippines, eto ba ung ngsasabi na "Intermediate member-A member who has completed an approved diploma in medical laboratory science, or equivalent from a recognised tertiary institution & who has completed 2 years experience; or a member who has completed an acceptable, but not accredited, science degree and who has not completed the AIMS Professional Examination or the AIMS Membership Examination." and they allow you to sit an exam? Eto ba un? Nung ngapply ako for an exam before, xmpre they asked for my credentials and everything else then nakareceive ako ng letter na I can sit na raw for an exam, tama ba? I've only got Intermediate membership eh.

Pag ba na-assess ka ng AIMS to sit for an exam, meaning ba non nirerecognize nila ung mga subjects mo overseas and I can apply muna as Lab. assistant?

*For anyone na familiar or mkkasagot nito..Please correct me if Im wrong..thanks in advance!

Hi Jojo! Sorry huh..sisingit nako lol! Depende ata sa course na kinuha nila and country..katulad ng mga nurses, may program kasi sila dto na aral sila for a short course then take an exam bago maging nurse..sa canada nman, pra maging MLS ka, need mo ata aral for a year bago ka mkpag practice ng pggng MLS mo..dto as Australia hndi ganon,if MLS ka apply ka lng ng certification exam nila dto pra irecognize nila ang course mo sa Pinas then makakuha ka na ng work..ung ibang MT jan satin, ibang visa ng inapplayan nila..pde nman un..student visa...ung iba kasi kya mas pinili ang maging student kasi mgbbgay sa kanila ng edge un, dagdag knowledge and mas matibay ang credentials nila pag ngaaply sila ng work..dto kasi ang labanan ay either may local experience kna dto or dto ka ngstudy..may kakilala ako, though MT na sya sa pinas, student visa ang pathway nya dto sa Australia pero dito na sya sa Australia ng AIMS after nyang mka graduate dto, Laboratory din course nya dto..kagandahan lang non, dagdag knowledge and diploma for you..kaso ang laki ng gastos nga lang, if you dont want that then you have to pass the exam jan satin then apply for a visa. Hopefully additional info for you

@Aiza05 yan ang di ko alm membership. Kasi sabi nila kahit di ka magpamember makakaapply ka pa din sa lab as long assessed ka ng aims.

If yung letter ng aims syo to sit the exam included yung assessed ka nila as medical lab assistant. Then you can work as medical lab assistant na po. As long may allowed visa ka na to work po. :)

Dati kasi nsa "skilled occupation list" (SOL) pa ng australia ang lab assistant So pwede sya gamitin to apply for visa. But ngayon, wala na po. Scientist nlang po included sa list (SOL).. Ewan ko lng sa mga regions. Kya nag take ngayon ng aims exam mga co-medtechs kasi medical laboratory scientist yung gagamitin nila na profession for the application of visa.

@xyrafaye. Bka kasi may updates.

Need nyo muna pa assessed po as lab technician and sila po mag send sa inyo ng invitation nila to take the exam. Separate payment po ang assessment as med lab assistant and payment sa application ng exam for scientist.

Eto po ulit link ng aims.. https://www.aims.org.au/

Thanks for the infos and for clarifications! ;-) Hindi pa kasi ako gaanong nkkpag back read kya hindi ko sure kung na-tackle nato before pa dito sa thread.. iLang months nako ng-aapply as lab.assistant muna dto kc nga wla pako AIMS and ngtataka ako bakit ni isa wala ako nare receive na tawag..now I know the reasons na, 1st is I need to improve my resume and 2nd I should have put in my application na na-assessed na ng AIMS ang mga credentials ko as a Medical lab assistant...but I guess superb overseas experience and local experience parin ang labanan dito sa location ko kya 50/50% parin ang chance ko sa mga specimen reception area dto..anyway thanks ulit! ;-)

Out of 150 applicants.. 5 kaming ininterview.. kaso di ako nakuha.. hehe.. baka pang-Brisbane tlaga ako.

    Good luck guys..

@raspberry0707 Thanks for that! Before kasi nilagay ko lahat ng mga credentials ko from Phils. and 3 pages nga ang aking resume but marami din kasi ng suggest na iconcise ko mabuti ung resume ko kasi mas importante dto ung local experience but I guess sobra atang napa ikli ung sakin into 1 page nalang..ng Masteral ako sa pinas but hindi ko natapos gawa ng thesis kasi coz I got lazy and papunta nrn ako non dto..honestly wala pang 4 years ang work experience ko sa pinas, scattered and general ang work experience ko sa pinas..masipag lang ako umattend ng mga seminars back then but my work experience hindi ganong ka impressive..dpat naging seryoso tlga ako when it comes to my resume and cover letter lol! But its all good, now I know what to fix and to improve..and next year I've got plans of studying again after aims, either Master's or Medicine..wait ko lang citizenship ko so that I can avail a student loan lol! :D Thats great news at start kna work as a scientist! ;-)

*I've got an interview nga pla this coming Tuesday, as phlebo with the government parin but different hospital and permanent position pra mgkaron nako ng mga leaves and more stable hours..sna makuha ko or kung hindi nman ay ok lang din, stay muna ako with my current job and focus muna with the review.

*Good luck to all of us on our journey to Australian dream!

    So I think I disproved 3 myths..
    1. Dapat concise ang resume
    2. Kelangan onshore para makakuha ng interviews
    3. Kelangan ng local experience

I think it doesn't really matter basta solid yung experience mo at matyaga ka mgpasa ng resume at magrevise ng Cover Letter sa bawat job.

I used Thailand address and phone number sa resume.. pero tinawagan pa din nila ako..

@chelle onga sis.. dun bumawi.. haha!

@raspberry0707 Good for you that you disprove those myths for you but for some people they might be true based on their experiences..Ive been emphasizing about local experience bcoz based on my experience and experiences of my colleagues, esp. if someone is applying to a government large hospitals here in part of Sydney where I am right now, employer preferred na may local experience dahil they are super busy hospitals so they need someone that can pick up infos easily and less training period perhaps..With regards to resume, obviously ang gusto makita ng mga employer ang need ilagay sa resume pra kita nila agad ung kelangan nila..about onshore presence eklavu, I dont know much about that since Im on a different visa and I didn't go through the visa process most of you here went through..but I guess (thru common sense) that if an applicant is applying for Skilled Migrant/ Independent/ State Sponsored visa, its natural for the employer who is interested in hiring overseas workers , to call the applicant wherever she/he maybe.

Maybe for some of us who chose to apply when ur here na, maybe ur thinking that It's gonna be easier for you to apply pag andto na kayo pra if tawagan kayo agad agad for an interview, mkkapunta agad kayo for that interview but for some, mas effective if a month or couple of months prior to migration na mag-apply na agd..it really depends on the situation, whatever works for any of us, gora tayo jan.

I think were all here to share our own experiences (either good or bad)/ knowledge and not to prove or disprove anything and its up to us readers if what infos we gonna disregard or absorb..I'm not here to discourage or to confuse anybody and again, it wont hurt if we all try and if we fail, thats ok kasi all we have to do is to move on and apply again kasi madami parin nman work dto for MLS like all of us here...When I discovered this thread recently lang, at first, all I want to do is to just read all the discussions and learn from it but when I read most of the discussions here, it inspired me and it made me feel that Im not alone with struggles of the exam, finding work that we really want/need, how to live here as MLS etc..then I realized na why not share my own thoughts & experience coz honestly dto sa location ko, sobrang bihira plng ung mga pinoy na nakausap ko about being a MLS here in Australia, karamihan sa kanila ay either nurse or phlebotomist or MLS from other country..I'm really glad that I discovered this thread and be part of it..this thread helped me a lot, I'm very grateful for that and hopefully this thread will able to help all of you in anyway to reach your Australian dreams! ;) =D> ;;)

@raspberry0707 I agree on that but I think (one big factor) is what location ng applicant sa Australia kung gaano kadali or kahirap humanap ng work.

*For those future job hunters: Realistically, maraming work dto, if an applicant is in need of funds asap to pay bills etc or walang luck agd to find a MLS job, all you have to do is to accept whatever job that you can get, odd jobs like cleaning, waiting tables etc or even start as a phlebotomist or start in specimen reception area/ lab.assistant just to put ur foot in the door then work ur way up in the pathology or else plan your job hunt thoroughly pra bulls eye agad sa work na gusto nyo...challenging ang paghahanap ng work dto that will suit you and in line sa course natin, but its not impossible...just bear this in mind to be a realist, plan ahead and prepare yourself mentally and emotionally because the battlefields here are way different than Philippines but after that, sobrang tamis ng fruit of labor nyo ;-)

@Aiza05 nagpasa ako sa lahat ng States.. :)

@raspberry0707 oh yeah..it almost slipped out of my mind na iba iba pa pla ang skilled migrant visa..ung iba state sponsored and ung isa ay independent right? Pag state sponsored, restricted ka lng sa state na un? Pero pag independent, kahit saan? How about the process? Which visa is harder to apply? Ive got a bestfriend kasi, but shes a pharmacist..ive been convincing her to apply here as a skilled migrant worker since ang tagal na nyang pharmacist sa pinas instead na student visa..but im planning to invite her first early next year as a tourist muna so that she can a have a little bit taste of what australia can offer to her...anong company ni john gil dto sa sydney?
