Driving with GPS or IPhone map?

Ask ko lang for those who are driving. Since we are not sure how to get around the city and suburb areas, which one is a better option?

Garmin GPS or just use a local sim card and use your IPhone?
Doon po sa gumagamit ng phone, anong sim ang magandang bilhin (with voice calls, data plan and good signal).

Gamit namin Tomtom GPS pero nung wala pa kaming GPS, virgin mobile na sim gamit ko, pero under a plan. Tapos nagdownload ako google maps na app since better sya than the default iPhone map app. Ok naman both.

Anong telco maganda gamitin? I mean pwede na ba akong kumuha ng line na sim?
wala pa kasing work... maybe prepaid lang ako pwede.

Also nong mga plans meron for prepaid with good data na bundle?

normally pag magaapply ka for a line, kelangan may work na (at least in my experience) kase may credit check sila na gagawin sayo.. ung prepaid ok sa virgin mobile. meron silang information about that sa website nila.

bundle you mean kasama na DSL for example? Ung TPG may ganyang bundle pero maliit lang ang data sa mobile...

I use Vaya. Yung power plan V2 na 18 aud. 1.5 gb data and 650 aud worth of calls and sms. Siya na pinakasulit na nakita ko. Hindi naman ako hiningan ng proof of work. Credit card or debit card lang hiningi.

pag sg dl ka automatic convert to full license (i think). check your local rta website for details.

Yup madali lang

In NSW SG license is one of the recognized DL , you simple go to a nearest RTA ( LTO sa atin ) and ask how you can convert your SG license to AU license

How do I convert my overseas driver licence to a NSW driver licence?

To obtain a NSW driver licence you must be 17 years of age or older. You need to go to a Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) registry and:

Provide the following documents:
Proof of identity. You need to provide two proof of identity documents - one from List 1 and one from List 2.
Proof of your NSW address. If your List 1 or List 2 identity documents do not show your address, you will need to provide a further document proving your address.
Proof of your Australian permanent residency if you are an Australian permanent resident or hold a permanent visa under the Commonwealth Migration Act 1958. You will need to provide one of the documents from proof of Australian permanent residency.
Present your overseas licence:
Important: If your overseas licence is not written in English, you must provide an official translation from the NSW Community Relations Commission For a Multi-Cultural NSW.
RMS also accepts translations obtained from the Free Translating Service provided by the Department of Social Services or previously the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). The Free Translating Service is only available to eligible people. For more information on this service, please visit the Translating and Interpreting Service website or phone 131 881.
For South Korean (Republic of Korea) driver licences, RMS accepts translations from the Consulate-General of the Republic of Korea, as the Consulate verifies the licence details with the relevant South Korean (Republic of Korea) driver licence authority.
Translations obtained through other means are not acceptable.
If you cannot produce your overseas licence, you will need to provide:
A letter from the overseas licence issuing authority confirming your licence details and status, or
A letter from a relevant consulate or diplomatic office (based on information received from the overseas licence issuing authority) confirming your licence details and status.
Pass an eyesight test.
Pass a knowledge test for each class of licence required, unless you are exempt (see the Exemptions from licence tests section for information).
Pass a driving test for each class of licence required, unless you are exempt (see the Exemptions from licence tests section for information).
Pay the licence fee.
Have your photo taken by RMS for your driver licence card.

Exemptions from licence tests

You may not be required to pass a car knowledge test or practical driving test if:

You have previously held an Australian driver licence that expired within the last five years and it can be verified by the issuing authority,
You hold a current New Zealand driver licence (not a New Zealand learner licence or paper licence), or
You are applying for a car licence and you hold a current overseas licence (not a learner licence), or one that expired within the last five years, from a country recognised as having comparable licensing standards to Australia. See Licences from recognised countries for more information.

Tanong lang po, alin ang mas madaling gamitin at intindihin (user interface and usage) - yung Garmin GPS or TomTom GPS. nakakita na po ako ng Garmin pero di pa ko nakaka kita ng TomTom interface. Or pareho lang sila? kasi different yung price nila - mas mahal ang Garmin compared sa TomTom, pagkaka alam ko. Advise lang po. Salamat.

if you have plans to go to NZ then get a Garmin map nila kasama NZ , and some of their brand have a lifetime maps update
