How/Where to search for accommodation (South Australia)

Hello po,

We will be in Australia by April 2012 (may ticket na po): 2 adult and 1 child. Please advise how/where (website or person kaya) we can look for accommodation. Gaano katagal po ba ang mga rental contracts?

Hi arpi,

I can say na mahirap humanap ng place especially for a family. I am in sydney but we are going to Adelaide this sunday with my wife (no kids) nakakuha ako ng 2 bedroom house sa kabilang forum, swerte lang din na may nagpost.

Pagdating namin dito sa sydney last week naghanap na talaga kami ng prospect place sa mga websites like realestate.com.au I make an excel file ng possible place. I went to adelaide din last wed balikan lang whole day to inspect all possible place.

I was surprised na points system din ang pag rent ng bahay. You need 100pts, then pagpipilian pa kung mapupunta sayo yung bahay. Paki google na ln yn pts system ng rent iphone ln kc to gamit ko ngayon.

Nagcheck ako ng shared accommodation, mas mahal pa sa solo so in short talo.

Best option is to find other fellow friends na pwedeng ikaw na lang ang magtuloy ng rent. Para walang background check or paper requirements. Also walang bond na babayaran usually $800 up din ang bond.

ni-resked ko ang flight ko to march or april. Original travel date ko sana to Oz is Feb. 14, pero di ko kaya, dami ko pang aasikasuhin dito sa pinas.

Isa pang nakapag-padelay ay yung yung boot camp training sa CCNA, good thing i passed it. Gusto ko kasing mag-shift from SA to Network engineer/admin/specialist kasi yun naman ang current job ko at dun ako nag-eenjoy.

Nakaka-inis nga yang rental point system. Ang dami nilang requirement, tapos hindi pa ako nagdri-drive so wla akong driver's license, 30 points kaagad yung nawala sa 'kin. Nung nagrent ako 3 yrs ago, passport lang at employment contract para may proof of income yun lang. Mabilis pang magka-ubusan ng property. Baka next year eh maglagay na sila ng police check as one of the requirement.

To answer your question:
1. realestate.com.au
2. gumtree.com.au
3. pinoyau forum or yung kabilang forum
4. Medyo matrabaho - you should have a look in the city sa mga condo/apartments then katukin mu lang yung mga building manager pag meron kang nakitang advertisement sa harap ng building nila. Minsan kasi yung mga bagong apartment hindi pa nila ina-advertise sa net. Tapos pa sched ka ng apointment to inspect, pag hindi masyadong busy si bldg mgr eh papakita na agad sau yung property.

Rental contracts preferred nila is 1 yr, pwede mu ilagay 6 mos. pero nasa bottom of the list ka na pag ganun. Pwde rin ang 3 mos lang, that is kung wlang ibang prospect na magrerent sa property.

@davidx23, salamat po for these informations. Kung may point system po, dapat ngayon pala talagang dapat mag-apply na kami (kahit april pa ang flight) at baka matagal nga sila mag grant...

@sohc, sang area po kayo sa Adelaide?

You can email the real estate agent pero bihira lang sila mag-reply sa email. Usually kailangan tumawag ka for apointment. Hindi ko sure kung pwede ng mag-apply if your outside Aus, you can try, tska mabilis naman silang mag-decide (matagal na ang 1 week).
