457 VISA Requirements: Health Insurance

Hello po mga kabayan

May 457 sponsorship po ako from employer and they hired an immigration agency to lodge the application. na-comply ko na po lahat ng hinihinging requirements except sa health insurance. I'm currently in SG and my family (wife & 2 kids) are in PH.

Ask ko lng po kung meron dito na makaka-advice kung pano ang best way na maka-obtain kaming apat ng health insurance with minimum level of insurance required for subclass 457 (http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/hi-template.rtf). will also appreciate advice kung ano po ang magandang health insurance provider.

Nag-try po ako magpa-inquire ng insurance from PH kaso as per the agent, di raw po nila sagot ung hospitalization sa AU, which is sablay agad sa requirement. medyo limited din po kasi ang choices namin sa province. nagtitingin naman po ako ngayon sa mga au health insurance providers pero nahihirapan po ako magdecide kasi hindi po ako ganon ka-technical about insurance stuff, usually kasi provided na ng company yun, kaso eto requirement pa sa visa application...

Like you, 457 visa applicant din ako. Last week I was asked to purchase health insurance as part of the requirements. What I got was from IMAN (http://www.austhealth.com/value-plus-visitor-cover) they also have a budget cover for family. I just processed everything online and after an hour, they have sent me my Health Certificate which I then provided to our immigration agent.

What's good with this is you can select the mode of payment (mine was monthly) so you don't have to pay for 12 months up front. The certificate they have provided me was open-end date:

Policy costs paid by the policyholder by way of Direct Debit, Monthly
All IMAN health policies offer continuous cover until the policy is cancelled.

they haven't charged anything on my card. According to them the first payment will reflect March pa. So should my arrival date be moved, I can just drop them an email to update my policy. In the event naman na di ko magustuhan yung policy nila, I can always switch to a different provider once I'm there.

Your advice was indeed very helpful. Following your example, I have managed to purchase my health insurance online. I'll just wait for their response now; hope to get the policy today para maforward ko na rin sa immigration agent ko.

@mike_perth ma'am po ako.. ako naman po ang magtatanong. Medyo out of topic, pero you mentioned you will be bringing your kid along with you. How old na po sya? If school age, do you know how much needed for 457 visa holders to pay for us to be able to send out kids to public school? Is it true it will cost you around $4500/kid/yr?

@epiboy99 Thanks Sir! Helpful link po. So totoo ngang merong fee to access public school para sa mga dependents Sydney bound po ako and I have two minor kids. mukhang pasusunurin ko nlng sila once PR na kami. 187 Direct Entry Stream po ba kayo? or Transition?

@aanover Direct entry stream ako. Wala pa kasi ako 2 years sa employer ko ngayon. Sa SA ako kaya libre pa ang tuition fee kung sa public school papasok yung mga bata although sa catholic school ko pinasok yung anak ko para malapit sa bahay and di naman ganun kamahal din.

@epiboy99 Thanks Sir! Kumuha pa po ba kayo ng immigration lawyer to process your PR? hehe sorry medyo marami pong tanong, yan din po kasi ang plan namin mag direct stream after a year. Since may Skills assessment naman na po ako from ACS.

ay sorry ma'am po pala @aanover yup dadalhin ko po ang 2 kids ko, parehong nasa primary, pero papatapusin ko pa sila ng school term nila sa pinas.. balita ko nga rin po nasa AUD4500/year daw per child. sana kayanin..

@mike_perth kaya yan sir! Good Luck satin.. Ako after 1 year pa bago ko mapapasunod ang mga bagets ko. Ndi pa kasi school age and wala pa kaming access to tax benefit. Specially single parent ako. Di ko kayang magbayad ng child care!

yup @aanover siguro mas magandang mapasunod sila pag nakapagsettle na tayo.. mahirap din kasi na pupunta agad lahat tapos pare-parehong walang alam sa au heheh.. sa perth din po ba kayo?

@mike_perth Sydney bound po ako. Kamusta na po status visa nyo? kasama na po ba ang mga dependents nyo sa application? Hiningian po ba kayo ng immunization records ng mga bata?

@aanover di pa ako naglodge ng visa. Bago kasi makapaglodge ng visa dapat approved na yung nomination ng employer. Una kailangan ng Regional Certifying Body Advice. Positive naman yung outcome kaya nasa second stage na kami of the process and lodged the nomination application with the DIBP. After nun pa ako makakaapply ng visa and magbabayad.

Iniiisip ko pa kung kailangan ko kumuha ng agent. Pero malamang hindi na.Madami naman info na makukuha sa forum tsaka tutulong naman yung HR department ng company namin. Sayang din kasi magagastos sa agent. Malamang kasi ako magshoulder ng visa fee.

@aanover based po sa immig agent last tuesday pa lang na-finalize ung application ko kc nun ko pa lang napasa ung final outstanding requirement ko (health insurance). follow up na lang po ako sa monday siguro... so far di naman hiningian ng immunization records ung mga bata, ang reqt lang po sa kanila ay full health checkup. pinapunta ko pa nga sila sa makati para lang magawa yun eh tsaka para sigurado na rin na au-accredited ung clinic..

@mike_perth GoodLuck satin! My sponsoring employer followed-up my application to our agent, he said immi is busy due to the upcoming holidays and sending an inquiry will be pointless. The CO naman daw will look into it after the 28th grace period they have provided and we should be hearing back from them. Hope you don't mind me asking. Did your employer pay for your visa application cost as well as your dependents? travel cost?

hi @aanover! sorry late reply hehe busy lang masyado.. yup my employer shouldered the visa application fee and relocation (for me and my family) as part of the package to lure me to join their company hehehe.. actually kasali yun sa post nila online kaya ako nagka-interest na mag-apply sa kanila.. good deal na rin kasi and talagang ina-eye ko ang au.. sabi rin nung friend ko na nasa sydney ngayon eh mejo bihira daw na sagot pa ng employer yung visa fee & relocation so may good impression na agad sa akin ung company

napansin ko pala sa signature mo na software engineer ka.. pareho po pala ang field natin hehehe

@mike_perth good deal po ang nakuha nyo. Very rare nga po ang AU company to get people outside AU since it'll involve sponsorship. And I can attest that AU companies are really family oriented. If the company I've been working with didn't have difficulty hiring developers in SYD, I don't think they'll be asking me to transfer. They have shouldered all the expenses associated with my initial move(457) but that doesn't include my dependents. When na-satisfy ko na yung "relevant" years of experience ni ACS, they require 3yrs and sa June 2015 ko pa masasatisfy yun, we'll lodge 186 direct entry stream, and dun na nila I-sasama yung mga bagets. Unfortunatley, I will shoulder the visa fee for my family, though they'll support(sponsor) me witg my application and shoulder the MA fee.

@mike_perth good day! I hope you can have inputs to my questions. I have a possible job in perth and i am based here in Doha Qatar, my wife and daughter is in the Philippines. 457 visa ang offer ng employer.
1. Can I go directly to perth from doha?
2. I wnt to bring my family with me to perth mas ok sana kung kasabay ko cla, so i think need ko bumalik ng pinas, advisable ba na isabay ko na family ko? Or after 6 months?
3. About the visa application, do I need to declare all my coe from past employment? Including my present employer? Baka kc magkaproblema ako if I ask to my present employer ng coe they will kniw that I am applying for visa for another country?

hi @mahilig_project! sensya na mejo mtgal nko di nkpgcheck dito hehe.. try ko lang po masagot ang tanong nyo:

1. if philippine passport holder po kayo and may valid visa then i see no reason para di kayo mkpasok ng perth you can also check their website: http://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/visa-finder?Purpose=Work+in+Australia&Nationality=Philippines&ApplyFrom=Qatar&Age=31-35&Stay=All&Length=All&Family=All&Sponsor=All

2. kung may employer na po kayo but will be under probation, i would honestly suggest na mgsettle muna kayo before you bring in your family para less risk, pero nasa inyo rin po if may budget kayo for living allowance. kung stable na po sa work then of course ok na dalhin ang family para di malungkot

3. sa pgkkaalam ko sir sa visa application kailangan po ang complete record nyo kc may clause po doon na yung data na input nyo is complete and true to the best of your knowledge.. pwede naman po yata humingi ng coe sa HR nyo as proof of employment without expounding kung para saan?
