Working under visa 489 for software developers/programmers

paw07paw07 MandaluyongPosts: 33Member
Ask ko lang po sa mga software developers/programmers na nag undergo visa 489, mahirap po ba makakuha ng software development jobs? sa isang post kasi mas pinapaboran daw ung mga PR kaya mahirap ma-hire. gusto ko lang malaman kung ganun padin ang trend sa ngayon? Luma na kasi yung post baka lang nag iba na ngayon.. plan ko kasi mag apply ng visa 489 di ko lang sure kung palarin ba ako na makahanap ng work pagdating ko AUS. Currently asa pinas pako, working as software developer & mobile app developer. Thanks po

    @paw07.

    if you are holding a 489 (temporary visa), you are basically telling the employers they hire you as a rental services or contractual employee. Not bad for you but not easy too.

    first they might not hire you as a permanent employee unless they will be willing to sponsor you or you get a permanent visa soon. therefore you are competing with a very small but very qualified market who are looking for contracting jobs.

    Firstly thanks sa reply Envy! :)

    ok lang siguro saken un contractual as long na maha-hire agad ng company and sufficient un wage to survive. Aside sa benefits ng regular na employee, anu pa ba mga ba drawbacks kung contractual lang jan sa AUS? Possible ba na di ako makahanap ng work in 2 months? May sister naman na ko sa AUS na resident na, kaya mejo matutulungan nya ko sa survivability, pero syempre nakakahiya parin kung maging pabigat ako...

    @paw07 in my opinion lang na based on my experience din. Most companies will hire you because you have the skills that they need for the position. Tapos as long as you have the eligibility to live and work in AU hindi masyadong problema yun. Mostly yung mga jobs din are contractual or even casual at first and then pag maganda performance mo some companies will consider to employ you permanently. Yung iba pa nga nag hihire from overseas nang mga developers and applied them with 457 working visa. So, it will boil din sa skills and competency mo sa software development.

    So, to answer your question kun di pa ba mahirap kumuha nang work when you have 489 visa. I will say NO but your skillset should be very strong enough!

    @paw07 and one more thing, it is a reality na pahirapan ang paghanap nang work dito sa AU lalo na pag wala ka pang "LOCAL" experience. Meron din mga PR na dito pero wala pa din work. So, be prepared in terms of $$$$ at skillset mo!
