How much initial money required to settle down?

the same thread title already exist but that under PR. I would like to ask the same for student visa.

di lang po isama ang tuition fee, magkano po needed to settle down when it comes to rent, food, transport, mobile and other things para po sa mga student visa. "worst comes to worst" case but hoping and praying for the better. planning to stay in melbourne.

in my case, me and my spouse will go together hopefully by october.

hopeful, may makapagshare at isang malaking tulong po ito sa amin.

more or less be sure to bring 4,000$ just to settle down...it is not easy to find a job here....

just to give you a breakdown on weekly expenses:
rent - 160$ if single excluding utilities
food 100 if single
fare - 70$
others (miscell)- 70$
total- 400$ a week

@Samantita I think yung official na guide ng immigration na 18600 a year o roughly 360 a week is a reasonable starting point.. Tama si Kuya @danyan2001us na prep ka for 3-4 months.

For fare, kung sa Melbourne ka around $40-50 pwede na. $7.52 cap weekdays / 6 weekends.

For food, as long as you cook, you save a lot.

Since you are just starting, you will definitely spend a lot more like in terms of toiletries, groceries, school supplies, clothes, shoes, thicker sheets, etc. Kasi wala naman patingi-tingi dito.

Another thing to factor sa exp is yung cellphone bill. Pwedeng prepaid, pero kung postpaid I think a $30-40 monthly plan with a new phone is quite good.

Btw ano pala course mo? Kung nursing, usually ang significant na gastos ay medical tests, vaccinations, police check at working with children check.

@Samantita edit/update: 12.12 pala yung weekday cap. Sensya...

Ayos.. Malapit ka lang sa amin. Zone 2 ung sydenham. So kung biyahe ka to city na Zone 1 (45 mins) bayad ka $6 good for 2-hour ticket. Dagdag ka $6 tapos yun na whole day fare. Kung gusto mo magtipid.. Dapat train lang sakyan mo at nasa Flinders station ka by 7:15 am. Free yun.. So yung fare pabalik lang babayaran mo as long as 2 hours lang biyahe mo, train, tram o bus.
