EA or ACS?

Hello pinoyau folks! My girlfriend worked for almost three years in an oil and gas company but recently shifted to IT (programming analyst post). Question is, which assessing body should she apply for assessment? EA or ACS?

Kakastart pa lang nya sa bagong work pero balak namin magpa assess mid 2016 pa, so which is the better choice given po lahat ng mga to? :)

Also, if Melbourne ang balak naming state, ano pong mas magandang pursue na career sa region na yun? Engineering or IT? Thank you!!

Oh and btw, we're both licensed ECEs :) the nature of her previous work was inclined towards design and proposals of liquid/gas pipe flow meters used in the oil and gas industry.

    Hi Jio,

ACS requires work experience for skills assessment of applicants with educational qualifications obtained overseas. Based on what I have read from numerous threads online (since I also went thru ACS assessment), ECE is normally assessed as an ICT Major and 4 years of relevant work experience is required in order to be assessed as an skilled ICT professional for migration purposes. You can read more about ACS's criteria for skills assessment here: http://www.acs.org.au/migration-skills-assessment. So I suggest waiting till your gf accumulates 4 years of relevant IT experience before applying for skills assessment.

For EA naman, it used to be that you could get assessed based on your degree alone (without work experience), pero may nabasa ako dun sa isang thread dito sa pinoyau din that they have started requiring work experience na rin for skills assessment like ACS. I'm not too sure about this, you can read the EA skills assessment booklet here and let me know if that's really the case (kasi may friend din akong fresh grad na gusto magpa-assess hehe: http://www.acs.org.au/migration-skills-assessment

    Good luck!

Thank you! Kakadownload ko lang ng MSA booklet ng ACS and di ko pa nababasa so thank you for highlighting the 4 year experience requirement. Hehe!

Sa EA wala akong nakita sa MSA booklet nila na requirement ang may work experience although syempre it wouldn't hurt your chances if may malalagay ka. If this is the case, mukhang EA din ang appropriate assessing body for her. Optimistic naman ako sa EA since maganda both ang scholastic records nya and previous work experience.

@jiomariano no worries! And if I may offer my 2 cents, mas maganda na sa EA na magpa-assess ang girlfriend mo, because the Software and Applications Programming occupations have pro-rated allocations per month in terms of invitation to apply for 189 visa, so doon na lang siya sa Engineering occupation niya para mas maikli ang waiting time if ever she ends up only getting 60 points.

Ikaw po ba ito? https://www.facebook.com/people/Jio-Mariano/100001722235223 Joke lang po :))
