Work Experience is not related to my Qualification (Degree Course)

edited January 2017 in Working and skilled visas
Hi Guys,
Scenario:
Qualification: BS Chemical Engineering
Nominated Occupation: Chemical Engineering
Work Experience (8 years) , Year 1-3, related sa Chem Eng, Year 4-8 related to Financial Sector.

I have read kasi in a post (2011) na may ganto.

"DIAC requires 12 months relevant work experience out of last 24 months in your nominated occupation if you are skilled sponsored visa and 36 months relevant experience out of last 48 months if you apply for skilled independent visa."

Is this still true today?

You should nominate an occupation wherein you can get a positive assessment. In your case, it should be the one related to financial sector( dahil sya ang most current).Refer to the requirements of your assessing body. You can get a positive skills assessment even if your qualification is different from your nominated occupation. Assessing bodies usually requires a minimum number of work experience related to that occupation before considering you as skilled in that occupation. The immigration department will award points to qualifications and work experience separately(related or not). You can only claim points equivalent to 5 years sa work experience or it depends how your assessing body will determine when you were really deemed skilled in your nominated occupation( usually they will deduct number of years...i.e 2 years deduction, you can only claim equivalent points on 3 years work experience). Your first goal is to get a positive skills assessment. Immigration department will rely on the outcome of your skills assessment in awarding points on work experience.

Thanks for your thoughts, but I'm thinking na mas mataas ang chance for an invite (advance thinking) if ang nominated occupation is Chem Engg.

Guys, if you have other views please let me know so i can weigh the chances.

    Thank you ulit fgs.

Otherwise, you won't be qualified for migration.

Ang suggestion ko, i-compare mo yung skills na kailangan for both Chem Engg and yung occupation na pwede mo inominate for your job sa financial sector. Tapos alamin mo kung ano ang assessment body for each of those two occupations and kung ano-ano requirements nila for assessment.

From there magdecide ka kung sa aling occupation ka makakakuha ng positive assessment and saan mas malaki ang chance na makakuha ka ng points for work experience.

    2 cents ko.

@lala I doubt makakuha ka ng positive skills assessment as ChemEng...you should be I. Skilled occupation prior to applying

@lala IMO, kahit na mabigyan ka ng positive assessment ng EA for your education, baka magkaproblema ka pag na-invite ka as chem eng.

Kahit na hindi ka mag claim ng work experience, kelangan mong i-declare lahat ng work experiences mo from the day you graduate up to present.

Correct me if Im wrong, pero ang pagkakaintindi ko pwede gamitin any experience within the last 10years. So in lala's case, pwede pa din sya for Chem Engg, no points nga lang for experience.

as per my understanding sa requirement ng (EA or DIBP) you should be atleast in your nominated occupation in the last 3 years para makakuha ka ng positive assessment. remember yung validity ng most skilled assesment is only 3 years? in @lala 's case, mas mahaba pa yung experience nya sa financial sector at 5 years and it is the current occupation. although mas mahirap yung way na financial sector ang inominate nya, but i think it is more favorable na makakuha sya dito ng positive assesment

@tweety11 sa TRA guidelines ko pala nabasa to, not sure kung yung ibang assesing agency specially EA will consider this guideline, though di ko to mahanap sa EA booklet.

2.8.5 Employment for at least three years, with 12 months in the last
    three years
To ensure that you have the skills and experience to meet the requirements of a
skilled worker in an Australian workplace you are required to demonstrate that you
have undertaken at least three years of employment at the skill level required for the
    occupation.
To ensure that your skills are current, we require you to provide evidence that you
have worked for 12 months at the required skill level in your occupation, or a closely
related occupation where you are required to maintain your skill level for the
nominated occupation, within the last three years.

one more factor to consider, stated sa EA MSA booklet..
    5. The Report
This section includes the Continuing Professional
Development, three Career Episodes and Summary
    Statement.
    5.1 Identification of Continuing Professional
    Development:
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is the
means by which you keep up-to-date with developments
in your field of engineering after you have gained your
    undergraduate qualification
    .

@ynnozki ah. Iba iba kasi requirement ng assessing bodies. In EA's case, di nga necessary na may work experience. For CPD, pwede gawan ng paraan hehe. Pwede iindicate dun na nakasubscribe sya sa newsletter about her profession, or any seminar. Di required ang certificate for CPD.

    Good Day,

Electronics Engineer (ECE) ako by degree, pero yung work experience ko is more on Cost Estimation/Budgeting/Planning in Manufacturing/Construction Companies (Mech, Oil & Gas at slight sa Electrical)

**since wala akong solid work experience sa field ng ECE (unfortunately)

What would be your advise? For those na may similar case sa akin, how did you accomplish your CDR?

I would suggest have your assessment with EA. Better ang chances mo dun
