@smartbrat yan mahirap sa accounting..dapat kasi you are a registered accountant in australia. if you apply for like grocery worker or kahit anong job..they tell you din na overqualified ka. that's being caught between a rock and a hard place. pero keep looking.. good luck!
hi, i am an accountant as well. The good thing is that some companies are not very particular about their accountants' licensure. In my case, my Philippine CPA license was good enough. For most companies, more weight is put on the breadth of experience and how experience fits their requirements. On the other hand, i've heard that there are certain companies who only hire Australian CAs and CPAs. :)

Pareho. Walang masyadong hiring pagdating ng December to early January. Ayaw muna nila mag-hire kasi magbabakasyon sila. Very unfortunate for someone like me who is on a job hunting mode but I keep praying for an early Christmas gift. :)

And meron dito tinatawag na carer's leave to attend to your immediate family member who is sick. Then I've heard there's a pet carer's leave bill they want to pass. :)

just with leave..don't know sa private as i work for nsw health which is govt. we don't get the sick leave until 3 months in the job. so if i get sick prior to the 3 months period..unpaid sick leave po yun.

maternity leave is 3 months paid generally..for PR you can leave for 6 months pero paid is 3 months then unpaid yung remaining 3 but job is secured for the total of 6 months.
kaya nga yung problem with business class visas/ work visas, may provisions po dun if the primary applicant is unable to work for 2-3 months you can actually lose the visa for the entire family i know a nurse who actually lost their visas because she got pregnant and may complications and had to leave for more than the maternity leave period.

and also there's a forumer who separated with her hubby who is the primary applicant but won't be coming to aus anymore.. stand ko dun is that they will still lose their visas kasi nga sa provision na the primary applicant must not leave or be out of work for more the 2-3 months or the family loses the visa.
but since separated sila.. there might be a solution to their problem.

annual leave is accumulative, sa nsw health po is you can cash it IF only you leave nsw. but if you just move to another workplace within nsw health then it just get transferred to that other hospital. if you leave the country you can cash it also and will be paid on your last pay cheque.

sick leave is not accumulative. if you don't use it..you lose it.

meron mental health day.. for stress and depression. 3 days lang din i think.

meron din personal leave..pero that's actually part and parcel of sick leave like if my child or hubby gets sick. so it's not a separate number of days po sa amin.

to make most of salary and cut back on tax.. most govt institutions have salary packaging. may certain amount per year na you can salary package..usually 9000aud plus per year then divided po yan to number of pay cheques in a year. that's money you get back instead of ALL your salary being taxed, they give you back a portion from the salary packaged amount. paki google na lang po..kasi hirap to explain kasi walang ganito sa pinas.

Hopefully, mag-start mag-pick-up by January.

hehe nothing to worry naman! Job market might slow down pero ganun din naman nangyayari sa lahat ng developed countries.

It just so happens that some countries (such as ours in the Philippines) are doing very well right now because investment money has no where else to go but to other developing countries hehe.

I've read the recent speech of Wayne Swan, compared to other countries in Europe or in the States, in very good condition pa ang Australia sa lagay na yan hehe

Although from my experience, mukhang worth it lang yung skype # 1-2 months before ka dumating ng Australia to look for a job.

    2) Under Skype Menu, click mo account. Pakita nya sayo ano currently available sayo. Piliin mo lang yung Buy Skype#, syempre dapat for Australia piliin mo. $24 ata to for 3 months.

Sa iPhone, pag-hindi active yung Skype mo (i.e. in background lang) hindi mo rin makikita yung tawag eh, which leads me to the next step.

    3) Bili ka Skype Credit, minimum cost is $16.

    Sana makatulong to sa inyo.

Another suggestion, pde nyo tawagan yung Australian contact number na nasa seek advertisement for a particular job posting to show interest dun sa recruiter. Or follow kayo mga recruiter sa linkedin. May mga kumontak skn sa phone ko nung nagemail ako sa knila about a job posting in linkedin.

Like sabi nya, very important for companies ang local experience, and sa una mukhang lower ung offer than the usual. Although ung lower offer na to, good na sya for me. hehehe Tapos nisuggest nya i-tailor fit ung resume ko depende sa job specs. Tapos umalis na lang daw sa work eventually for a higher paying job. hehehehehe Ang tagal namin nagusap, as in. Sa sobrang tagal nakalimutan ko na iba nyang tips. hehehe Important sa knila communication skills din, and nagtatanong sila about score sa IELTS... Tapos ittanong din how soon can you arrive in Australia. Very important un for very urgent positions...

Another suggestion, pde nyo tawagan yung Australian contact number na nasa seek advertisement for a particular job posting to show interest dun sa recruiter. Or follow kayo mga recruiter sa linkedin. May mga kumontak skn sa phone ko nung nagemail ako sa knila about a job posting in linkedin.

Like sabi nya, very important for companies ang local experience, and sa una mukhang lower ung offer than the usual. Although ung lower offer na to, good na sya for me. hehehe Tapos nisuggest nya i-tailor fit ung resume ko depende sa job specs. Tapos umalis na lang daw sa work eventually for a higher paying job. hehehehehe Ang tagal namin nagusap, as in. Sa sobrang tagal nakalimutan ko na iba nyang tips. hehehe Important sa knila communication skills din, and nagtatanong sila about score sa IELTS... Tapos ittanong din how soon can you arrive in Australia. Very important un for very urgent positions...
thanks for sharing the tips! so ano po ending? did you get the job? :)

question po pala, how long is the standard time that they can wait if for example nag-job offer na sila? add to the fact na wala ka pa sa oz.

:( anyway, i'll cross the bridge when i get there. hehe. :)
