Pinoys who have been here long are friendly, they greet and smile at you or they are willing to have a chat. Sometimes you need to start conversation because they might refer you to their company.

I passed my 6 month probation review they offered me a permanent position with 5k increase in my annual salary but I turned it down coz I told our HR Manager that I don't want to be micromanage as I hold bigger projects in my previous companies. Two days later I got another job offer from my agent with 15K more on my current salary. It really pays to have a good network and good recruitment agent

Happy ako sa kanila kasi they always negotiated my asking salary. And before the first interview with the client they will prepare you, they have mocked interviews and also provide some FAQs with proper answers.

I have two agents Tera Digital Services and Robert Half parehong Brisbane. Pero alam ko Robert Half they have other branches in other States. Bago matapos ang contract ko tinatawagan nila ako if I'm happy with my current work. Pag hindi, hinahanapan nila ako ng next contract or permanent position.

@pinoykiwi_inOZ normally, magkano professional fee ng recruitment agent, and how do they get paid (e.g. %age of 1 month salary, etc.)?

@wizardofOZ, Commissions of recruitment managers are heaps it is percentage of your salary. That is why gustong gusto nilang i-negotiate ang mataas na sahod coz this affects their commission. The company who hired you are the one who pays for it. They usually get another commission after you passed your probation (6months normally). But if you leave before 6 months they need to replace you and they don't get any commission on the replacement.

@IslanderndCity Haha thanks. Three months din before I landed the job. Karamihan ata ng openings dito Business Analyst hahaha.

In my case, Logistics pa din naman kasi from a Logistics background ako sa Pinas. Pero naiba na yung role ko. Operations kasi ako datin sa Pinas, ngayon more on project and systems na.

Sa mga naencounter ko na IE Business Analyst, maraming data crunching. Meron din Business Analyst na process improvement.

Ano pala background mo and saan ka dito???

@IslanderndCity I'm not sure about other Business Analysts kasi depende sa field. Pero for me, yes, SAP and Excel.

Graduate na rin ako ng seek, (for the time being) Sa wakas, nakatagpo din ng tugma sa work experience ko... :-)
it took lang naman around 7 months! Susuko na nga sana ako at babalik na ng middle east at ung amerikano kong boss dati e naghahanap ng someone like me!
napakaraming close call...first week pa lang upon arrival ko dito e supposedly may work na ako agad pero naglaho! Pero oks lang, hinde pa ako nawalan ng pagasa during that time...

Two months passed by since my arrival at wala pa rin makuhang work na tugma sa experience ko, pero at least nagkaroon ng part time job as a catalogue delivery boy, ok naman ung first month na kita, around 120 to 200 AUD din per week, and most of all e nag-enjoy rin naman ako meeting some aussies and learning Oz Culture...pero hinde sapat para ma-sustain ang cost of living dito sa Oz...buti na lang at nakapasok ako as a casual laundry worker, which maganda naman ang pay since nakakapagpadala na ako sa pinas! Pero hinde pa rin natigil sa pangungulit ke Seek! I have had some interviews, one was as a Supervisor pero need ng C Class license e hinde pa ako napasa sa driving that time kaya hinde natuloy...then supposedly e working na ako sa woolies, pero i think na-discriminate ako ke woolies...then most of the time e puro phone interview lang ung nangyayari sa mga job application ko, which is not bad na daw sabi nung iba since kahit paano e narerecognize daw ung CV ko...btw, those phone interviews, i think kaya sumasablay e need talaga ng mga Oz employer ng work experience here in Oz mismo...and to some extent e mga tickets...which wala naman ako at white card pa lang ang meron ako! :-p

Then eto na nga, tumawag na rin sa wakas ung pinakamimithi kong job post...it took about an hour sa phone interview...then after that, face to face interview na...around 1 hour din ung interview with the HR, plant and operations manager...after that, e plant visit naman...2 kame na nagplant visit, isang aussie na na-retrench sa mining...tapos, after that, tumawag na ulet si HR at sabay sabi na ung aussie na lang daw muna ang ihihire since may work naman daw ako at si aussie e na-retrench...pero ihihire din daw nila ako, hinde lang daw muna sa ngayon...so si ako naman, badtrip ulet...sablay ulet...

weeks later, tumawag na si HR at ihihire na daw nila ako...need lang daw ng reference..since isa pa lang naman ang company na pinagtrabahuan ko dito sa Oz, no choice ako, kaya ive asked the owner nung laundry na pinapasukan ko to be a reference, initially hesitant ako, sinasagot sagot ko kase minsan si manager ko..hahaha...but to my surprise, hanep, puro papuri ang narinig ko sa boss ko upon the call nung HR about me...

In summary, to those na naghahanap pa rin ng work in line sa experience nila, tiyaga-tiyaga lang mga kapatid, ganun talaga...pray harder...darating rin yan...if ever wala pa, enjoy most of ur current job kahit hinde linya sa work experience natin...establish a good record and a good relationship sa mga bosing natin, most likely, if ever makahanap na kayo ng work in line with your experience e maghahanap sila ng reference from your previous employment at iba pa rin pag ang reference niyo is coming from Oz mismo... :-)

Khit sa simula mga blue-collar and manual jobs, at medyo natagalan, may dumating din na magandang opportunity.

Nakaka-inspire yan para sa aming mga magm-move pa lang sa Oz

@wizardofOz salamat brader...honga, talagang nahirapan ako sa paghahanap ng work na inline sa experience ko...hirap makapenetrate kase dami nilang hinahanap na mga ticket...fortunately meron akong nakita na bagong company at hinde pa full blast ung operations... :-)

para sa mga magmomove sa Oz, wag mapili sa work, sa umpisa talaga dapat kahit ano lang muna para maka survive...at talagang mahalaga ung may local experience dito...and i think mas prefer ng mga oz employer na ung reference niyo e ung andito sa oz mismo... :-)

@wizardofOz bro, they were looking for a reference within Oz..sinabi ko naman at nakalagay sa CV ko na i was working casual as a laundry worker, sabi ko rin na its a decent job naman at its for a living which is balewala naman un sa kanila...they were just asking kung ano ba ang traits ko as an employee...

nakakatuwa nga ung boss ko sa laundry...as in super ganda ng mga sinabi nya dun sa HR...kaya my advice, kahit casual job at hinde linya ng work niyo, be good at do your best...who knows, baka need niyo rin ang reference na Aussie... :-)

@gerardds tumpak!! hinde dapat kinahihiya ang mga work dito...kahit cleaner...maraming aussie rin ang cleaner...and mind you guys, ang 20/hour or even around 25ph as a cleaner e nakakabuhay na at nakakabayad na sa rent at nakakapagpadala sa pinas...its a way of survival here...

@dhey_almighty how or where do you find these kinds of work? we are coming in by june or july and even though independent skilled yung entry ng husband ko, he is yet to find a job, and kami naman will work kahit saan basta legit
