External Auditors

catajellcatajell SydneyPosts: 94Member
Hello po! Sa mga external auditors, dito tayo! :)

- Anong state ang the best for external audit jobs?
- When is the best time/month to apply?
- Is it possible to land a job kahit wala pa sa AU mismo (provided na PR na)
- How is the working environment in AU?
- What is the normal salary range? Nakakaipon ba?
- Nagpademote ba kayo from your current position?
- Pwede ba magparefer? Hehe..

Salamat ng madami! :)

Hi @catajell, for external auditors usually ang work is in Sydney and Melbourne. I know this is not very useful

Hi @Bigfoot , on the contrary, this is very useful! Salamat! :)

Right now, may visa na kami and nag-aapply na rin online. Hoping na sana makaland ng job even before makarating dyan. Gusto lang namin makahingi ng konting info/background para alam namin ang pinapasok namin and to manage our expectations.

Sabagay, hindi naman na consideration ang sweldo gano kasi coming from SG (stressful na buhay), gusto lang namin ng better quality of life.

Salamat sa answer kung anong state kasi dito kami medyo confused e. Since visa 189 kami at dahil wala naman kami kamag-anak dun, kahit saang state kami pwede pag nagkataon. S dapat, makachoose talaga kami wisely.

Thank you uli! Akala ko wala nang papansin e.. hehe

@catajell hey there. To answer your questions..

    1. All of the states here have chartered accounting firms (big 4, mid-tier, botique firms) which have external audit. Sydney and Melby are the two big cities, if you are going to apply on those two states, expect a massive competition. The current job market in Victoria and in Australia is not that great, I would suggest for you to try in Brissie. If you are currently working in one of the big 4,maybe you can ask for a transfer or apply to the same firm here. Also, take note that most accounting firms here are chartered firms meaning they require someone who is a fully qualified CA (chartered accountant). Also note that our Philippine CPA is NOT recognised in Australia.

    2. Best month would be before the financial year end around May. End of year is June 30.

    3. Most companies hire third party recruiters/head hunters to do the recruitment. Based on my knowledge and reality, most company/recruiters require you to be physically present in Australia for interviews. Landing a job prior to coming here is less likely to happen especially for Accountants/Auditors because so many migrants here in that field. They can easily hire someone locally or onshore rather than hiring someone overseas.

    4. Working environment in accounting firm or normal corporate environment? Remember that here in Australia, work and life balance is important to everyone. Corporate environment is relax. For firms, they work long hours but not as odd like in the Philippines or SG I reckon.

    5. Salary range varies depending upon your level and state. Check seek.com sometimes they post salary ranges but then again, accounting firms usually give slightly lower salaries but should be higher compared to SG I suppose.

    6. Most people I know landed in a lower level considering they are not qualified accountants here yet (some of them thought our CPA is recognised here but it is not). Remember that the environment here is different and it is quite common for all migrants to downgrade their job level just to keep the ground running.

Be prepared to do non-audit job and please bear in mind that there are heaps of accountants here so competition is very high.

    Hope this one helps!

    Cheers!

Just to include to the tips mentioned above. Since ang prinoproblema ng halos lahat ng migrants when looking for a job is local experience, it is advised that all overseas references are taken out from the CV or Cover Letter. In the Cover Letter, discuss your skills and experiences that match the employer requirements. Then on the first page of the CV, just highlight your skills and characteristics that is required for the job. For work experience, just put the name of the Company, date you worked there, and a brief summary of work performed. Again Sa summary dapat closely related or exacto dun sa job description ng advertised job. There is no need to put the country where your previous company was located!

For references, it is advised that these should be located in AU. If this is not possible, just leave it out. They will ask for it once your application is successful.

It's also advised for those with foreign sounding names to tweak your name into a more Aussie friendly name. This will make it easier for your prospective company. Take note that your CV is not a legal document that requires your full, legal name. Even Aussies tweak their name as and when necessary.

Lastly, roads in the Phil, Singapore, Saudi, Australia are all the same. There are only differences in safety and regulatory requirements. Same is true for accountants, MYOB, JD Edwards, Etc are the same all over the world kaya there is no reason why your overseas skills are not transferable to AU.

    Cheers!

Kaso kasi nagresign kami sa work nung July 21 lang and umuwi kami Pinas (currently) para makapagpahinga for 2 months. So sana talaga, madami pa din opening by October..

Cguro if makanahanp ng audit job after a year or two change na sa accountant para di na ganun ka busy. Yup i agree most of the job postings are immediate.

Oo, pareho kaming external auditor. :)

God bless satin at see you there! :)

Guys, peak pa rin ng hiring ng audit firms by October kasi half year audit is January. Sobrang biyaya kung makakakuha ng audit work while outside of Australia, take this time to prepare your CVs and Cover Letters up to Aussie standard para pagdating dito e konting tweaks na lang every time applying for a job opening. Also, we take volunteerism too lightly pero malaking tulong sya dito sa AU. I suggest that you make it one of your priority once you arrive. This is one of the ways to broaden your networks. Madami kayo mamimeet na volunteers who can refer you to unpublished job openings. God bless!

I know some people here in Melbourne, they were able to get work within 3 months... Big 4 pa sila mag-asawa; Deloitte and PWC - they got Big 4 experience previously outside PH so that might have helped.
