Like most of us here, I'm one of those aspiring to head down under and start anew. I am currently in the Philippines and trying to job hunt and apply online since the start of June. So far, puro rejection emails pa lang but I'm not yet giving up. I'm giving myself until the end of the year to look for a company that would be willing to sponsor me.

Ano po mga tips niyo for linking and contacting with recruiters sa Linkedin? Minsan naman sa mga job portals, di ka na maka-move on since may prompt na agad kung OZ resident ka ba or hindi.

Haayyy. Super hirap. But tiwala lang. If it is for us, it will come in God's perfect time. I'm giving myself a year to apply.

Okay pa naman ang work dito sa Pilipinas pero ang habol ko talaga ay quality of life and change of environment so fingers-crossed for Australia! :D

Minsan kasi we need to take a risk talaga to achieve our dream. God Bless.

@lester_lugtu don't lose hope...some people take more than a year to get the job that they really want. It took me over a year din to get a permanent job. I'm sure the time will come na makukuha mo din yung job na matched sa skills and interest mo. If you don't mind me asking, what's your profession po?

    @ islanderndcity
    @ tangerine44,

Building maintenance work ko sa pinas for more than 5yrs. Mainly handling airconditioning and refrigeration systems ng building. I used to work in malls and supermarkets and dept stores.

And i knw i am more than that. Pero ni isa wlang maniwala.

    Pero im not losing hope.

    Hello Guys,

I am also a testament of how difficult it is to find job here in AU. I and my wife are both IT professionals (Technical Support Engineers), so before we moved here, we have decided that she will look for odd-jobs first while I will focus on finding an IT one. We have to rent right of the bat ng isang room on a flat-sharing, dahil hindi po kami ma-aaccomodate ng pinsan ko dahil sa liit ng inuupahan nilang house.

I chose a place that is busy and maraming establishments like malls and markets. So si misis nagwalk-in sa lahat ng grocery store asking if they need additional staff and sabay bigay ng cv (customized for odd-jobs). She did all of the walk-ins while also busy in gumtree calling all possible odd-job employers. I think kung odd-job yung target sa gumtree, its better to submit the cv asap and CALL the number of the employer right away, dahil marami po kasing nagpapasa ng cv thru e-mail and minsan hindi na po talaga napapansin, unless kayo po yung nauna. Then after that may kumuha din sa kanyang Filipino restaurant as a part-time waitress, then meron then po syang once a week 8 hr job as a sandwich assistant sa isang weekly food stall malapit sa amin (take note lahat po ng part-time job niya ay all walking distance para tipid po sa pamasahe).

Before we go here, I e-mailed my boss who is our client about my plans of moving to Sydney and if ever there is a chance, I am still willing to work for them (meron kasi silang branch dito). So technically, in my case po, meron po talaga akong hinihintay na job from our previous client. However umabot na po ng almost 6 months waiting (combined both in PH and AU) and wala po ako talgang assurance from them. On my part I kept on adjusting my CV and Cover letter, answering phone interviews and karamihan po talaga is from agency or recruiters. I finally got one interview from Commvault as storage engineer, however hindi po ako pumasa sa technical interview. Another company (Storagecraft) scheduled me for interview as storage specialist this coming Tuesday. On the day na tinawagan ako ng agency about the Commvault result, nag-email na sakin yung previous client ko back in PH about the job offer. We are really thankful to the Lord because without His mercy and grace we could have ended as loosers.

Pasensya na po kung medyo mahaba yung kewnto ko, but this is the only way I know how I can repay this forum for the all help and information I got from it.

Maisahre ko lang po lalo na doon sa mga PRs to give encouragement, most of the Filipino na nameet namin who have been here for like 3-13 years, who does odd-jobs here and there, they somehow look up to us even though bago pa lang po kami. Why? Halos lahat po sila ay non-PR, meaning others are on tourist visa or student visa (which really cost a lot of investment). Ang biro nga po nila sa isa't-isa is nagpi-PHD na daw po yung iba sa tagal ng pagiging on student visa nila. On the otherhand a lot of them are doing great, most of them have their own small businesses already back in PH, which is really admiring. Kaya ang lagi nilang sinasabi sa misis ko, huwag mag-alala dahil makakuha ka pa ng marming hours of part-time dahil PR ka and eventually makakakuha ka ng IT job. Please don't get me wrong po if I promote po doing odd-jobs even though we are IT professionals back in PH. At the back of our minds these are just temporary and sooner or later we will land a job base on our professional work experience. Napakalaki po talga ng difference dito compared sa PH, for example if you work as a full-time waiter in PH, I believe you will just get by barely, pero dito po, you can live a decent life. :)

@jepoy527 It depends on your situation, but for our expenses yes. Let say each of us will have 20 working hours per week(meaning part-time only) at a 15AUD/hr. I would say yes. If you do the math:
