@baronann , malalaman natin this month kung may malaking pagbabago sa SOL hehe

Yung professional year dapat work related experience sa nominated occupation mo :)
The professional year must have been undertaken for a period of at least 12 months in the 48 months immediately before applying and be in either:

the applicant’s nominated skilled occupation OR
    a closely related skilled occupation.

Points can only be awarded for Professional Year courses that have been specified by the minister.

    Hi All,
I am pleased to see everyone being up to date with the 1 July changes. For those concerned with retaking the IELTS, if its any consolation, DIAC are in the process of changing the validity period from 2 years to 3 years.

I went to the Skills Select seminar last week and it seems that this new program will nevertheless have some "teething" problems as with any new programs being implemented. However, they seem to be trying their best to address any issues raised by migration agents to be able to better service their clients.

It should be noted that they are still addressing the issue on what to do if applicants are relying on the extra points for state sponsorship to obtain the pass mark. The issue is you are unable to submit an EOI unless you hit the pass mark. But then you have to submit an EOI to be selected by State Sponsor. Catch 22

will let you know when we know more.

    Thanks

Reply to @seekmigration: Welcome to the forum! Thanks for the information you are sharing in this forum. Hope that you could enlighten us somehow with the new rules that DIAC would be implementing. Hopefully some of the members here could also get your services on their visa application.

Nothing to worry about the employer sponsored occupation list. All their doing is consolidating the 3 different lists we have now (457 occupation list, employer sponsored occupation list and State Territory Sponsored list) into one big list called the CSOL (consolidated SOL)

Immigration was thinking about calling it ASOL so its "Australian SOL" but the acronym just didnt sound so good. lolz.

@seekmigration - Is it confirmed that you cannot lodge an EOI if you do not meet the passmark? Skill select website clearly indicates that the only requirements are IELTS and Skills assessment to be able to get into the Skill Select database.

In order to submit a complete EOI you must meet the points test pass mark. Your complete EOI will then be ranked on the basis of your claims against points test factors.

Hi, I tried a couple of personal assessment tests available from some websites. May requirement dun na "employed in a skilled occupation for 12 months in the period of 24 months". I've browsed through SkillSelect but I can't find any reference to this requirement. Applicable pa din po ba tong requirement na to? I have 5 years experience pero I'm not employed for more than a year na. Thanks!

    Hi Guys,

    Dito sa http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/points-tested-visas.pdf

    Meron dun nakalagay na:

State or territory government nomination will either involve the intending migrant seeking
nomination from the relevant government before submitting their EOI or submitting an EOI and
indicating their interest in being sponsored by a particular jurisdiction(s). State and territory
governments are directly able to nominate the person through the SkillSelect register.

Meaning ba nito, may option yung applicant na magpa State Sponsor BEFORE or after submitting an EOI. Kasi ang question dito di ba, kung naghahabol ka for the 5 points through SS, may magsosponsor ba sa yo pag hindi COMPLETE ang EOI mo (or hindi ka nakaabot ka ng 65 total points as passing score)?

Reply to @stolich18 @blackveil: Yes Sydney is a part of NSW but for a 489 visa (regional area) Sydney is not included for you to live and work there. Di ko lang alam e kung pwede ka nilang i sponsor with this kind of visa. Better yet antayin no na lang po yung skillselect para mas clear yung mga guidelines. Konting intay na lang lapit na yung July. :)

@LokiJr, nakita ko to sa http://migrationblog.immi.gov.au/2012/04/24/changes-to-points-tested-skilled-migration-visas/

Mukhang pwede magpanominate before or after lodging ng EOI o kahit hindi abot ng 65 points ang EOI mo.

Hi, I am a former international student working as an engineer in WA for almost one year. I will be applying for visa 190 in this coming July but i only have 60 points unless i obtain WA State Sponsorship. My question is, do i apply for State Sponsorship to qualify myself for 65 points before lodging the EOI or after the EOI? And also, how frequent will DIAC invite the candidates for permanent visa application?
    Many Thank.

    Robert says:

    Hi Henry,
If you want to be nominated by a state or territory government for skilled migration, you can enquire with the relevant government agency first about nomination, before submitting your EOI. Alternatively, you can select the state/territory nomination option when you submit an EOI and you may be contacted through SkillSelect by a government agency to organise nomination. You don’t have to have the pass mark score to make an EOI.
We also expect that the program will search the available EOIs to make invitations once a month, subject to occupation ceilings.
    Thanks for the question.

@bmc_cpu thanks for the input :)

the latter options is a little risky though...DIAC will only entertain EOIs with 65 pts and above and whilst you can have government agencies select you for state sponsorship, it's like taking chances. Dami rin kasing mag-aapply so pahirapan yan. Mas praktikal IMO yung first option na binanggit ni Migrationblog talaga.

Ganyan din kasi sa employer sponsored visa...puwede mong sabihin sa EOI mo na ENS habol mo kahit wala ka pang employer. It's possible to find employers but you are taking a chance and you might end up waiting for nothing :)
