Hi everyone!

I am an engineer from the Philippines. I am migrating to Aus as a partner of an Aussie. Do I need to become a member of Engineers Australia before I can apply for a job here in Aus?

I will appreciate it if someone is able to shed light on this.

Daghang Salamat!

Joycenel

My hubby and I have been attending Hillsong Church Melbourne city campus since Feb 2014 and I am loving it! If you’re new here in Mebourne or you have been here for a long time but you haven’t yet found a church where you feel a sense of belongingness, we can go to church together! ^_^ Let us know!

    Hi chikka_gurl143,

Sang state ka d2 sa oz?

    Anong field of engg ka?

Tingin ko hnd mo na need ng EA, many only use EA for migration purposes.

Partner lang din ako d2 same as u. And same as u engr dn aq, mech engr s pinas. Pro up until now cleaner pdn ang work ko.

Pro hnd nmn msma. Im earning 23aud/hr pagweekdays at 32aud/hr nmn pag weekends.

Basta kapit lang mabuti pagdating d2, hnd madali maging partner lang.

    And pray.

@Milkan some companies, or maybe most e naghahanap ng mga tickets or Trade certifications like Mechanical Trade or Fitter....kaya may RPL which will process your previous work experiences and assessed you as per your work experience...

This RPL involves a series of interview ng assessor and certain reference from previous managers/supervisors at minsan pictures pa na nagpapatunay ng skills mo...

    http://www.engineertrades.com.au/for-learners

**though meron mga company na hinde na naghahanap ng mga certifications...still, ang hirap maghanap ng work related to our profession kaya i am thinking na magpa RPL na lang to further bolster my CV so to speak...but still i am crossing my fingers na maka-land ng job without taking RPL at ang sakit sa bulsa hehe

^ ive tried applying as operator, assistant and even technician roles.

Back in the Phils, maintenance ang linya ko. Almost all around except carpentry. Mapa ac pa yan, central plant, electrical o plumbing.

Dumating na tlga aq sa point na hndi cla naniniwala sa skills natin, unless we study here.

Pero tyaga lang. Makukuha din ntn ang place natin d2.

    Hi @lester_lugtu!

By saying "assessed" ka ng EA does that mean you're already a member of EA now? almost 700 AUD din kasi payment for STAGE 1 Competency assessment. That's what I am trying to apply for.

    http://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/membership/assessment

I was thinking na baka pwede na ako mag.work kahit hindi pa ako member ng EA. And I AM NOT SURE.

Naghihintay ako na ma.approve yung partner visa ko and hopefully once approved na pwede na ako work agad. That's my target. I'm here in Aus now as a visitor.

@chikka_gurl143 ung assessment sa EA as engineer (Professional Engineer - Stage 1 or Level 1) is for visa processing only...i think... :-)

**pwede ka naman magapply na as an engineer dito sa oz provided na na-meet mo ang mga requirements nila...swerte mo kung offshore ka pa at may naghire na agad sayo as engineer...meron dito sa forum na nahire even if offshore pa sya...

***yan din ang akala ko, as assessed din ako ng EA as prof engineer kaya ung pagkatapos n g assessment ng EA sa akin before e apply na ako ng apply agad ng job kahit offshore pa ako but to no avail...now na andito na ako sa WA, hirap pa rin makahanap ng job that suits my qualification since most of the companies here e naghahanap ng certain certifications

***at ang sabi nga sa akin ng iba dito na: "Its not what you know but who you know"

Thanks for your reply @dhey_almighty! The Stage 1 Competency Assessment is for membership.

I thought that I need to be a member first of EA before I can even apply for any engineering job here in Australia. From what you people are saying, that's not a requirement but an option.

I have been in Melbourne since January this year. I am here as a visitor. I am actually very excited to work here in Melbourne but my partner visa has not been approved yet. So, basically, I am just doing what I can to make sure that I am ready to apply for a job once my visa is approved.

    @chikka_gurl143,

Forget about EA, once ma-approve na partner visa mo.

Hi @jobseeker! I am not doing a skill-based migration. I have a partner VISA in the process. I was just asking if kailangan ba akong mag.pa.member sa EA to get a job here in Aus. Anyways, I have asked a lot of engineers here and they're all saying it is not necessary. That's just what I needed to know. But I appreciate your input! ;)

    Hi guys!

May alam ba kayong legit na PHILIPPINE-BASED EMPLOYMENT AGENCY na may job offers for Filipino Civil Engineers to Australia? Please include yung may competitive salary offers sana at pwede yung salary deductions for placement fee.

I am not confident kasi on processing my documents on my own and besides under agency sure ka na na may work ka agad before ka palang dumating sa Australia diba?

    Thanks!

medyo malabo yan. you have to understand that Australia is not like the middle east where they import civil engineers by the bucket loads. a good way to gauge this is by checking out workabroad.ph. search for civil engineers or any work related (ie. draftsman, site supervisor) job offers in Australia. since most recruitment agencies sa pinas doon nagpopost. it's not impossible but it is highly improbable.

    Hi,
I am back. After 6 months working in an odd job, i am back again in engg job hunting. And this time, since new year, fresh new start ulit.

I am a mechanical engr sa Pinas, building maintenance ang linya mostly in supermarket, dept store and malls.

    Maraming salamat.
