Waaaah!! WOW! Exciting nga experience na share mo @wizardofoz salamat sa pag share!!!

our updates naman so far eto pa lng:

1. just booked 1-way tix to Sydney via scoot Jun 27th wohoo! baka sabay tayu @rareking ?

--- sydney muna kami papasok, if meron naman job offer sa melby, we will just fly from sydney na , we have temporary place to stay na with a friend

2. husband is updating pa his CV hehe but his LinkIn ready na, intends to tender resignation around May

3. sa April pa kami magpi-PDOS , uwi pa kami Cebu but sa SG kami exit to AU

4. currently sorting out our stuff here in SG din like @mistakenidentity ilang tulog nalng lipad na kayu! weeeeeh!

also im still looking for intrl movers for shipping options on other heavier stuff like books, toys, etc. tinatamad pa mag make calls :P

@rukiasan - exciting na mga next months natin!!!

1. Mura talaga scoot lalo na kapag SG ka galing sulit na sulit ang presyo.. at dinig ko inooffer nila yung malaking bagong reoplano nila to sydney.

2. antagal ko ng nagaapply.. andami ko ng rejections, pwede ng isend lahat sa SA para makapaglipat sa ibang stats hahaha

3. This Feb16 ang PDOS namin, bakasyon sa pinas nitong tsekwa new year.

4. Tsaka ko na isiping yung mga gamit at iba pang details. last day ko with company ng April 23! nakapagpaalam na at 2 months, antagal ng endorsement period (feeling importante sa kumpanya, LOL)

Di na kami magdadala ng mga libro ng anak ko at iba pang mga gamit.. baka donate na lang kasi mukhang di kakayanin talaga.. di rin kami masyadong attached sa mga gamit (at wala kaming gamit masyado actually hehehe).

Hi guys, we have just landed in Sydney last Feb22 Sunday 1:05PM (Sydney time) via Scoot flight TZ2.

Mabilis lng customs clearing namen gawa ng hindi kami nagdala ng mga items na bawal at to be declared.

Upon exit sa customs, nagpapalit kami konteng USD to AUD para may pambili ng sim at pambayad sa taxi.

Magkatabi lng booth ng Vodafone at Optus pero nilalangaw ang Vodafone -ito rin feedback dito sa forum and some other forums na mas maganda ang service ng Optus kesa sa Vodafone.

Pumila ako sa Optus and hinanapan ako ng passport sa attendant at nagbayad ako ng $30 for my prepaid sim which is kasama na dun ang load at 1.5GB data for 1 month.

Pumila din kami sa taxi stand just near the airport exit doors and it only took us around 5 minutes to board a taxi. Malaki po ang space ng taxi nila.. nagkasya ang 2pcs 30Kg luggages, 2pcs 20Kg luggages, 1 20Kg carton box at 1pc stroller sa likuran ng taxi.

Parang 10-12mins or more lng po ang travel namen at $31 ang naging final fare namen sa taxi.

Chika2x konte sa main tenant ng house tapos pahinga na.

First stop is Centrelink office kaagad together with my family hehe.. although pwede naman daw online gawin based sa mga nababasa ko sa forum.. I opted na gawin ito over-the-counter para kasama na rin pasyal2x sa govt offices.

Wala pang queue when we arrived there at around 9AM.. tinanong ako ng attendant (medyo masungit na matandang aussie) kung ano purpose ng visit ko at sinabi ko na 'I am a new migrant and I want to process my Centrelink benefits.'

Ang sabi ng attendant was.. 'Sorry sir, you are not eligible for any Centrelink benefits. You are only eligible after 2 years of stay in Australia'.

Parang nashock ako bakit ganun ang naging reply ng attendant.

Merong corner sa office na andun naka lagay lahat na brochures ng Centrelink regarding types of claims. Kumuha ako ng isa at binasa ko ang brochure baka merong recent changes sa benefits but as is pa rin sa nabasa ko before I landed in Sydney.

Meron akong nakitang asian-looking na attendant na pumalit kay original attendant at nilapitan ko stating same purpose.. 'I am a new migrant and I want to process my Centrelink benefits.' Sinagot ako ni attendant ng tanong.. 'Do you have a family with you? Are they here in Australia?'

Doon ko na-realize na dapit clear at specific talaga yung purpose mo at dapat upfront sabihan mo sila like 'Me,my wife and kids are new migrants that had just landed in Australia and we would like to process our Centrelink benefits'.

After I answered 'YES' to both questions asked by the attendant I was asked to sit down and wait for my name to be called.

mga tropang August - maglalast day na sa trabaho nitong mid-April, finally hehehe. Lipad na kaming pamilya ng June 3. Gala muna ng konti sa Sydney with friends bago punta ng Adelaide ng June 8. Andami pang nakalista sa checklist na kailangang gawin. Kitakits!

question pala batchmates. nagchecheck ba ng laptop sa australia immigration katulad sa US na may random check ng laptop? meron kasi ako laptop na di na gumagana battery, kailangan nakasaksak lagi e nagkaroon ng regulation sa airline last year na advisable na may battery lagi ang mga electronic device. magkaroon kaya ako ng issue dito? baka kasi marandom check tapos di mag on yung laptop ko unless nakasaksak yung charger.

oks lang yang concern mo sir.. kasi pag nagrandom check sila at talagang di mag-on.. sabihin mo lang batt empty tapos punta kayo dun sa may power outlet.. solb ang problema mo.. .dala mo naman siguro yung charger mo. maganda din bili ka ng batt para at least magamit mo din kahit papano at sayang naman.. hehehe

@rareking actually may battery yung laptop ko, ang problem is yung power switcher between charger & battery sa motherboard ang di gumagana. nasira na dati tapos pinarepair ko na dati kasi under warranty pa, e ngayon luma na kasi tsaka wala na warranty kaya ayaw ko na pagawa. hehe.

btw, i wonder if ok lng ba 8months left nalng before expire ang passport ni husband ko by the time we arrive SYDNEY sa June...should we renew here in Singapore ahead or dun nalng sa Sydney? (contemplating how will it affect when we look around for rental of rooms/houses/apartments and etc)

===Centrelink experience continuation===

After 10mins my name was called by a Centrelink officer then I followed him to his table.
He asked for my passport and visa grant. This is the stage wherein they will give you a Centrelink Username and Password. After a few minutes he gave me both the username and password and was asked to lodge my FTB claim using the computer kiosks found within the premises.

I logged in to one of the PCs and entered the username and password given by the officer.
Upon gaining access, first thing I did was to change the password. I was also asked to set 3-4 security questions. After this, it was time to start the claim.

There was a series of questions that you need to fill in. The system will check your eligibility to claim any benefit based on your answers from the questions presented to you.
Note: If there is anything that is not clear to you, don't hesitate to ask for assistance from an officer.

Here is Problem #2:
There was a section where I was asked for me and my wife's TFN (Tax File Number) which we haven't applied yet. If you do not ave this, the system will not permit you to continue with your claim. My claim was around 60% complete (there is a progress bar indicator) when this question surfaced. So we realized that it would be best na kukuha ka muna ng TFN (this can be done online) upon arrival. So, what I can do at that point was to save my claim and continue once I have my TFN.

Pasyal nlng muna sa Hurstville and get to familiarize the place hehehe..

1. basahin ko requirement kung mag change ka ng passport..what form you need to fill up ..etc... and how long will it take to update your passport / transfer your new e-visa to the passport..

2. if I have enough time bago ng flight, gusto ko na irenew na yung passport kung kaya ng timeline ko... depende kung gano katagal processing dyan sa gapo.. di ako taga SG by the way... pero puro SG katrabaho ko hehehe

summary: go for it kapag kaya ng oras at walang risk na involve about the timing...

nung nag change ako marital status, form 1022 pinagamit sa akin ni CO.

i would suggest tanong mo nalang CO mo kung may issue regarding dun, nag reply pa naman sila sa akin kahit granted na yung visa nung nagpachange ako marital status.
