Remarking?

Hello everyone! I just want to share my experience and at the same time seek for advice too. Three years ago, I spoke to an agent about my intention to migrate to Australia. He asked for my credentials and then advised me to have my skill assessed by VETASSES. By the way, I graduated with a degree in Banking and Finance and I have eleven years of experience in the Accounting field. He mentioned that I didn’t meet the education requirement for a successful assessment as an Accountant, so I should nominate Internal Auditor instead. I was shocked by the cost of the entire application though so I took a pass on it. I contemplated and literally travelled the world instead.

Fast forward to 2015, I finally decided to pursue the migration. I took the IELTS test (General Training) in January (L-7.5, R-7.5, W-7, S-7, OBS-7.5). I was hesitant about having my skills assessed by VETASSES though, so I sent an email to SkillSelect. They advised to have my skills assessed by CPAA/ICAA/IPA for the occupation of Accountant. I then took the IELTS Test (Academic) in March. At the beginning of the test, I had a complete mental block. I knew then that I would not get a 7 so I wasn’t surprised when I received the Test Report Form (L-6, R-6, W-6.5, S-7, OBS-6.5) I was really frustrated. I retook the test in May. I was confident that I’d get the scores I was aiming for. I just got the result last Friday (L-8, R-8.5, W-6.5, S-8, OBS-8.0) and I felt really devastated (again). At the moment, I don’t want to retake the test because it is literally draining. I am considering a remark.

Do you think it’s advisable to have my writing score remarked? Thanks in advance!

Hi @babot_ I'd go for a remark, keep the spirit up and pray. I know how devastating it was, to see your undesired score.

As for me, I'd go for remarking and if again won't favour me I'd look around for another institution or medium (PTE) to prove my English proficiency.

Note: I haven't tried PTE but I've seen several discussions about it here.

Nakuha ko na kasi result ng IELTS exam ko. R-7.0 L-7.5 S-7.0 W-6.5
Dahil 6.5 lang ako dun sa listening e balak ko po sana mag pa remark.
May chance po pa na maging 7.0 yung listening ko given na yung ibang
exams ko e nsa 7.0 lang din? May nabasa kasi ako na dapat parang 2 points
and score difference sa ibang exams para maconsider yung remarking?
Any feedback on this? Hinahabol ko din kasi yung 7.0 para sa Visa 189
ang maapply ko, although baka pwede din ako sa 190 dahil as per self assessment
55points ako hehehe (Age-30 Qualification-10 Experience-15).
Any help regarding this remarking would be very much appreciated.

@Frances16 mas madali magparemark for speaking and listening since subjective ung mga un. Unlike reading and listening na may exact answers silang hinahanap.

Ah listening mo is 6.5? Bat nakalagay sa taas 7.5? Anyway, coming from someone na nagparemark before, mas may chance maremark ang writing and speaking since subjective sila. Meaning baka once na napadouble check sa Australia e pasok naman na sila as 7. Unlike sa reading and listening na possible na may exact answers na. Hope this helps!

@lisa hmm..ndi ko na maalala yung sakin, pero tingin ko nabago yung TRF. Kasi requirement sa remarking is ung current results mo, ipapadala nila sa magreremark. then after remarking, tpos may nabago sa score, nag-iissue sila ng bagong results with the corrected values.

Salamat! I went to BC yesterday to pick-up my TRF. They gave me time to think about it. I'm thinking to try the assessment first from ACS.hopefully, all my 9.5 years experience will be counted. If not, I'll just take the test again. Good luck and blessings sa lahat

Bro, dapat pinaremark mo na lahat. hehe! Sakin ginawa ko pinaremark ko lahat para marefund ko pa din ung remarking fee basta may kahit ano dun na tumaas. Anyway, goodluck bro.

yes pwede iparemark lahat. very rare or rather havent seen na nagparemark tas mas bumaba pa ung score.

basta habol ko lang naman yung tumaas ang writing ko to 7.0 hehehe
so i really don't know kung saan mas mag bebenefit yung remarking ko hehehe
kung lahat or writing lang talaga

@omeng22 sorry bro late reply. ngayon lang nagonline sa forum. Kung sana nahabol mo na paremark lahat mas ok sana. Ang goal mo kasi sympre is tumaas ung writing mo pero kung **knock on wood** di tumaas e ok din sana makarefund ka kung iba ung tumaas. Sayang din ung 7k.

@cavalier18 nahabol ko sir, pero decided na speaking lang idagdag ko hehehe. Anyway, gamble nalang talaga, yung price sir sa remarking pla is ±4.3k, kung talagang malasin at walang tumaas e charge to experience nalang hehehe, state sponsorship nalang ang habulin ko, ayaw na mag IELTS ulit hehehe, salamat ulit sa advice sir!

Sa PTE remarking computer din may check, so may ok kung mag retake ka ulit kasi halos ganun din ang bayad.
Nagpa remarking me sa IELTS after waiting for 8 weeks no change at all.

sir/mam, waiting parin ako hehehe, hindi parin kasi tumatawag british council sakin e,
hindi ko din sila tinatawagan hehehe, pero pag dumating na Vetassess result ko contact
ko na din agad BC, medyo hindi na din ako umaasa para hindi din ako ma disappoint hehe
charge to experience nalang, and subukan nalang ng state sponsorship hehehe
