Normal pace lang... Basta nake sure na clear ang pagsasalita mo... Tpos i-portion portion mo ung sentence yung parang ginawa sa youtube re. Sample pte questions.. Search mo nlng..

question sa mga nakapag take na.. yung sa describe image, around 6-7 items ba sya kaparehas ng sa mcmillan? and for the other parts, same din sa mcmillan? re-tell lecture, etc..

Ung describe lng na swertehan ko... Hehe.. Isang bar graph lang... Alam na alam ko kasi paulit-ulit lang ako sa mcmillan. Hehehe

Sharing the results of my PTE attempt 1:

Although I did not get my desired score, I am very optimistic na kayang kaya to compared sa IELTS! Imagine that is 9.0 sa writing, na never kong nakuha kahit pang palanca essay award na ang essay ko sa IELTS haha.

Guys, I need your help sa speaking!

Seriously, dun sa repeat sentence, nakaka intimidate sya. Parang memory ang tinetest instead na ung speaking skills.

Sa Describe image naman, I mentioned naman the characteristics ng graph. But I forgot to mention ung mga possible implications, conclusions, ung mga possibilities. I will definitely include that next time.

Sa re-tell lecture, isa pa to. Ang lakas maka mental block. Kahit nasa notes na, nakaka blanko.

Since integrated tong mga to sa Reading and Listening, I am sure na mapupull nito ung score sa listening and reading. Any tips sa mga 79+ will surely inspire me.

@Zaire Congrats, ok na yun score mo, a little effort na lang sa speaking. Actually, speaking din problem ko, naka 3 attempts na me, pero lagi sabit sa speaking. Mababa lagi pronunciation ko. Yung una mabagal me magsalita, yun second malakas, yun third, na mental block me sa mga images. Sana, someday malagpasan ko rin ito.

Yeah let's think of it as an investment. Somehow, nag improve talaga ang communication skills ko. mababawi din naten to sa first salary naten (sobra sobra pa) haha.

@Zaire Sa describe image make sure my intro ka and describe the main trends. Merong nagshare dati dito na mga sample intro. Makakatulong yun.

Sa re-tell lecture, dapat medyo mabilis ka magtake down ng notes. Para mas marami kang masasabi. Then dapat continuous yung flow ng words.

Sa repeat sentence, dapat matalas memory mo dito kung gusto mo ng mataas na score. Ginawa ko dito nanood ako ng news tapos sinubukan kong ulitin 1 to 2 sentences na sinabi ng newscaster.

And practice, practice, practice. Kahit na paulit ulit lang yung nirereview mo importante mafamiliarize ka sa exam at maging confident.

Goodluck. Kayang kaya nyo yan. Mas madali pa rin PTE compared sa IELTS. Proven na yan.

I'm new to this forum(just registered).. but I have been following this post.. let me share my experience..

I have taken IELTS for 3 times..

1st take of IELTS - Nataranta ako, and my reading was a messed(5.5)..My goal is just 6 on all bands para maipasa ko yung assessment sa EA(Engineers Australia)
2nd take of IELTS - my reading got improve..but my speaking went down(from 6.5 to 5.5)..

pumasok ako sa isang review center.. and have gain insights..

3rd take of IELTS - S: 6.5, W:7.0, L: 7.0

.. I gave up!.. Anyway, sa isip ko I can still apply for the State Nomination Visa(Visa190).

I got a positive result sa assessment after 16 weeks of application. Now waiting for invite with State Nomination.

While waiting for the State Nomination, I tried PTE.

1st Take of PTE - Reading: 64 --> ouch.. sayang.. dapat 65.. But it gave me an optimistic feeling kasi napansin ko media lenient ang pte sa scoring.

2nd Take of PTE - Reading: 61 --> another ouch..nagmadali kasi ako..

3rd Take of PTE - Reading: 69 --> ayos.. Thank God..

Tips:
1. Practice and Practice and Practice - napansin ko some of the questions are the same from reviewers.. and practice materials..
2. Read Aloud - Just read clearly and loudly..
3. Repeat Sentence - For my case, lagi kong nakakalimutan yung huling sinasabi.. So on the 3rd take, I focus on the last word..
4. Describe the image
4.1 The xxxxx shows. Where xxxx is "line", "pie chart", "bar graph", "image".
4.2 Paraphrase yung graph title
4.3 Banggitin kung ano yung X axis.
Example: " for a period of 3 years", "on the year 2000 to 2004"
4.4 Banggitin kung ano yung Y axis
Example: "age in years", "waste in tons"
4.5 Banggitin yung legend
Example: "for both sex(male and female)", "outside UK and inside UK"
4.6 Banggitin kung ano yung source
4.7 Kung wala ng masabi, banggitin kung ano yung kulay..
4.8 Helpful words - directly proportional, inversely proportional, portion(use in pie chart),
4.9 Banggitin yung highest and lowest sa data
Example: "As we can see, the largest portion(pie chart) is coming from plastics which is 35%". "Surprisingly, the lowest is from electronic components which is only 1%"

5. Retell lecture - Ginagawa ko is nagtatake ako ng note.. and since kadalasan my image din. So habang binabasa ko yung notes ko nakatingin din ako image.
6. Reading - My weakness.. I use to review online questions from internet.. just google parajumpled, reading comprehension, CAT examples..
6.1 Reading comprehension with one/more answer - Basahin muna question and then skim the passage to look for the answer
6.2 Fill in the gaps - Magbasa about collocation.. and then trust your instinct..kasi nakakalito.
6.3 Jumbled Paragraphs - know the pair, know the 1st sentence, know the linking words(then, however,moreover, alternatively,etc)
7. Writing - Summarize passage - gawa ng summary every paragraph.. bago gumawa ng isang buong summary.
8. Writing Essay
8.1 Introduction---Body --- conclusion
8.2 Introduction-- State the fact, state the argument.
Example: "There's an undeniable fact that communication has advance in the past 10 years. People talked about the benefits. However,people also argue about its negative effects"
9. Listening - if you have taken ielts, para sakin mas madali sya..
10. Relax wag kabahan.. yung the 10 minute break kung kinakailangan..
11. Pray and Pray and Pray.

Question about Summarize Written Text, dapat as in ONE sentence lang ba talaga to na complex? And one sentence means one full stop na isa lang talaga ang period sa dulo?

@eischied_21 Meron kasi sa writing instruction to summarize parapgraph/essay in ONE sentence. So you have to practice paraphrasing and connecting words para mabuo mo yung main idea ng paragraph/essay. sets of words typically with subject and predicate ending with punctuation mark is one sentence

Tama. Walang susuko. 3 times ako nag IELTS at 4 times ako nag PTE-A. Di ko nga akalain makaka 20 points ako kaya PTE-A all the way!

Another question, alam ko marami dito nag review using mcmillan and pte offline tests. Yung mga sample answers sa mcmillan and pte offline tests, parang magkaiba quality.

Like sa mcmillan, feeling ko super fluent na nung mga model answers nila for speaking. Pero according to mcmillan, around 74-75 lang yung score nila.

Sa PTE offline tests naman, yung model answers nila na level C1 which is equivalent to a score 79 and above, parang hindi ganun kaganda compared sa mcmillan.

Mas realistic actually yung model answers ng PTE kasi parang non native english speakers talaga unlike sa mcmillan. Pero parang ang positive ng comments sa PTE dun like basta comprehensible sya, mataas na yung score na makukuha.

Sa experience nyo ba, same quality yung speaking nyo sa mcmillan? or sa PTE offline tests?

I know matigas talaga mga dila natin dahil pinoy tayo, but i just want to get a high score and I don't know if I should base my speaking sa model answers ng mcmillan.

not necessarily na complex... You can use hypen, colon, semicolon.. etc.. basta period ang huli..

@aikee888 base sa experience ko kung ano yung PTE offline ganun na ganun hindi yung MacMillan.. I was surprised nung nag exam na ako ang bilis bilis.. I got good score sa Speaking lagn pero the rest nataranta ako kaya sablay..Kung ano yung sample sa offline exam ng PTE Offline as in ganun..Sa MacMillan mabagal eh pero sa Gold kit iba ang bilis eh.. I did not base my answers sa MacMillan basta tuloy tuloy lang ako sa Speaking kesehodang mali ang grammar walang pauses at gaya ng iba dito binabasa ko na lang din yung sa Re-tell lectures kasi may pictures naman so parang kang nagprepresent sa meeting.. may mga instances sa describe image na nacut ako sa 40seconds salita pa din ako ng salita yun pala tapos na hahahah

-As much as possible in your own words.. Maraming criteria ang speaking, speak speak speak lang kahit taliwas na sa sinabing lecture.. you may never know.. sa case ko, may dalawang image sa retell lecture.. at 40s, isang image lang naretell ko.. result eh okay naman....

@RMD I got 90 sa Speaking d ko alam bakit lol..probably nakabartolina kasi ako sa Pearson Makati yan.. Ako lang kasi mag isa that time nag exam so may isang room duon na dun ako nilagay but feelign ko now hindi na ganun ang systema baka sa susunod may kasabay na ako.. nilakasan ko ang boses ko eh.I just followed yung mga turo ng mga naunang nag exam dito.. may isang instance sa speaking sa answer short question na andun na yung sagot iba pa yung nasabi ko at may isa duon na sa sobrang bilis tapos na yung green bar bigla akong sumagot heheheh tapos dami ko pag sablay sa repeat sentence..

Awww...dito ako nahihirapan, sa sobrang ikli ng time ang hirap i-organize ng notes and at the same time palitan ng ibang words ung nasa lecture

Ako nung nagpapractice akos a speaking nagsasalita ako magisa.. lahat ng pictures na makita ko diniscribe ko para masanay magsalita.. sa mga magazines newspapers idescribe mo lang para masanay.. may pamangkin akong tamad magbasa and I read yung mga story books nya tulong na din sa speaking yun..kahit bote ng shampoo describe mo

say this bottle is colored pink with a beautiful lady named Sarah Geronimo and she had long black hair with beautiful eyes and clear skin. not only that she can sing and dance as well etc.. ganun carry mo yan
