May nakagawa na po ba dito na nagbukas ng ANZ account via online then nagsend ng money sa ANZ philippines office? Ang concern ko lang po kasi is baka mas mura sya compare sa via wire transfer sa mga banks?

You can correct me if i am wrong here but 3 years ago, i tried asking if there is an advantage in doing bank to bank from ANZ-PH and ANZ-AU; wala daw, may mga fee pa rin na babayaran and the usual FX spread.

You see, ANZ-Manila and ANZ here in Australia are different beasts kasi albeit under the same parent.

All the best, best option would be to ask around or if ever may kilala ka na taga Australia who would want to barter with your PHP - mejo complicated lang ito as this would entain a counterparty risk.

Question ulit, can I wire transfer money from PH to an Australian Bank account na hindi pa activated? I am looking at the option of opening up an NAB account. Pero yung activation nun once you get there pa.

I am also considering the option of using i-remit to wire transfer the funds.

@TasBurrfoot you are correct. Tumawag ako sa ANZ Ph branch mukhang same nga lang. I'm considering din na kausapin din friend ko kaya lang as you said medyo risky lang din. Thanks

Actually mukhang possible yan. Kung same sila ng ANZ may fee ang pagdeposit dito and withdraw doon. Approx 20-25aud per transaction sabi ng nakausap ko. depende pa daw sa bank kung different charges depende sa amount.

Yeah, you can...

As long as may opened account ka and you got your BSB and account number, pwede mo na iyan lagyan ng pera. Yung nga lang it can't be accessed upon unless you do the formalities and activate your account when you arrive here in Australia.

Probably higher rate and iSaver... I really don't know, I just have an offset earning 0%.

Share ko lang po, Hifx po yung ginamit namin para matransfer yung money sa oz bank account. Competitive po ang rate at the same time no service fee. Ang service fee na babayaran ay dun sa bank nyo po sa pinas.

We just brought $250 as pocket money - all the rest were in the CBA account that we opened months before.

Of course meron din kami dala BPI atm just in case plus the still open Singapore Credit Cards then.

Pwede kayo mag open ng bank account sa National Australia Bank (NAB) for migrants then you can transfer your pocket money from your existing bank account. Walang maintaining balance ang offers ng NAB, you just need to verify your identity once you arrived in Oz and visit the local NAB branch.

@OZwaldCobblepot Not necessary na kailangan mag lagay ng pera pero kailangan mo ng personal appearance sa branch nila within 6 weeks upon initial entry sa Oz. You may visit their site for more info: www.nab.com.au. Tapos search mo "migrant banking".

@OZwaldCobblepot Share ko lang po sir, yes po kahit di pa kami nagppersonal appearance sa bank, every month nag gain ng interest yung sa amin, NAB account din. Ideposit mo lang sir yung money sa savings account para may interest.

Ang alam ko dapat within 6 weeks upon your entry to AU eh dapat may physical appearance ka sa bank para ma-authenticate nila yung identity mo, that day din nila ibibigay yung ATM card mo personally.

Nag online foreign exhange po kami. Eto po yung steps na ginawa namin.

1) Nag open po muna kami ng account sa NAB. I suggest po na savings account ang iopen nyo sa NAB para may interest agad, yun po kasi ang ginawa namin. pero nag open din po kami ng transaction account.
2) Then niregister namin yung NAB Bank account sa Hi-fx (yung online foreign exchange), tapos dun kami bumili ng AUD.
3) Tapos po punta kayo sa local bank nyo (eg bpi, metrobank, etc) para i-wire transfer ang money sa Hi-fx.
4) Sa case po namin, 4-5 business days bago na-credit ang AUD sa NAB, pero sa second transaction mas mabilis na po.

Ang binayaran lang po namin na service charge ay yung local bank namin.

Tanong lang po kayo if medyo malabo ang explanation ko ah.

Nasa pinas po ba kayo? If yes, you can check your bank if magkano po ang service charge nila. May iba po kasing bank na nagccharge based on the amount you transfer, meron naman po yatang iba na fixed.

If kailangan namin ng "physical" cash, nagpapalit po kami sa czarina money changer sa makati. You just need to call them para makapagpareserve or to inquire if meron silang AUD.

Pero most of the time, online foreign exchange po ang gamit namin. Hassle free po kasi at mababantayan mo pa ang galaw ng exchange rates.
