How long did it take you to get a job?

Got my 3rd rejection email yesterday then I asked for a feedback on what to improve, at eto po ang nakuha kong sagot:

"Hi Sh****,
Not really, you have good qualifications and experience but we felt that others were better suited to the type of company and work we require. Any work you do for Australian companies I think would be well received by employers.

Kind regards"

hopefully kahit pano it's a good sign na napansin din kahit pano yung CV ko. although pwede rin namang pampalubag loob lang.. haha

Don't lose hope, mahirap talaga ang job market ngayon, especially now that the AUD is low, it's a sign that the economy is not good. I saw a news even ATO is outsourcing their IT works sa Accenture Manila. Keep praying and submitting those CV.

@filipinacpa I'm still offshore and had a couple of rejection letters and some are still assessing. Medyo matumal pa talaga ngayun sa Adelaide and also because the financial year is about to close. Another thing is antagal din nila mag respond so apply lang ng apply until I arrive there. Hopefully by that time either I have work na or maraming opening and maybe I can apply casual works as well.

@markbarquin i see.. same here sir.. so far, i have submitted 16 applications on my field and 6 applications for casual jobs. pnapray ko rin ang work na meron sana pagdating ko..

@filipinacpa minsan nakaka panlumo talaga ano? like naisip ko dati, kung asa pinas ako at nag pasa ng cv, tiyak 1 week may positive response na ako. pero kapit lang talaga, very competitive lang talaga dito.

@fyi_12 Sir ganda din ng story mo, and I share the same sentiments, pati mga kapwa pinoy natin dito. Buti nag nakapag odd jobs ka pa, ako kasi wala kakilala na makakapag pasok sakin sa cafe or even shops. Nag apply na ko as cleaner, woolies, coles, pizza hut name it, wala pa din. Pero inisip ko na lang na baka inde ako makapasok sa odd jobs eh baka meron talaga nakalaan para sakin.

Pero back to you, congratulations on the new role. Ihanda na ang mga business shirts para sa february hehehe..

It took me around 2 years to get a job from outside Australia. I played it safe, I gave myself a deadline na pag after 2 years wala pa rin, mag move na ako sa Oz. Sakto may dumating, but daming online applications din ginawa ko and konti lang nag reply. Well, na operahan din naman kasi ako kaya di rin ako nakaalis agad.

this is one possibility na pwede nyo i-explore, na give yourself a few years lalo na kung wala kayo kamag anak na pwede tirhan or kung feel niyo di pa sapat ang ipon nyo kasi mahal talaga.

Dalaw din kayo sa Whirlpool forum to get ideas about the IT jobmarket at mga experiences ng mga tao dun. Kahit mga lokal nahihirapan din minsan so competitive talaga.

Don't rely on seek alone, check LinkedIn as well and learn to network.

Just got an email from an employer inviting me to take the pre-epmloyment exams... However since revelian exams are valid for one year... I just submitted it nlng... Haiii sana maconsider na for an interview... [-O<

mas okay nga talaga yata na dun nalang mag apply kapag nasa Australia na.. from the 28 applications I sent, so far dalawa ang tumawag sakin inviting me for an interview.. kaso ang nakausap nila ay yung boyfriend ko kasi yung number niya ginamit ko.. so yung isa na kakatawag lang today is parang nanghinayang pa raw kasi good qualifications daw ako but they can't wait for me kasi urgent ang position..

so stop sending applications muna ako for now. resume nalang ako 3 days before I arrive there.. medyo lumakas na rin loob ko kasi may tumatawag na.. hehe

@lurker2014 hi! same with my husband. still no chance sa job hunting. 2 na nga kame ngpapasa ng application thru seek, indeed at gumtree. any work na nga. pati nakakausap namin na pinoy tinatanungan na namin ng baka my alam sila na work. that desperate! hehehe ask ko lang san ka nag aral ng IT networking and how much? we're in a studend visa and we're planning sana na mag aral din sana husband ko ng shirt course. thanks!
