@garfield oo nga po, sayang e. Actually 2nd ko na to. Yung first try ko is 76 ako sa speaking. Kinulang ng 3 points para makuha ko yung 20 points. I need 20 points kasi para sure invite sa next round kaya po ako nag take ulit. Kaso kinulang po yata ako sa dasal.. Anyways, may next time pa naman po. Never lose hope sabi na po ng iba. And always keep the faith. God will always make a way.

    Thank you po!

@theunknownbox yung pte practice tests lang po ang inaral ko. I just familiarized myself sa type ng exam. Di ka pa po nag take? Kailangan lang po intindihin mabuti yung topic/paragraph/lecture para makuha yung tamang sagot. Kayang kaya nyo po yun.

Thanks nga po pala! God bless po!

@tobby hi, what time ka nag exam? Had my exam too yesterday and got my scores today. RWLS 90/90/80/61. Sadly, sablay ang speaking. I actually expected it. The room was full and it was so noisy during the speaking part so medyo nakakadistract din. And napindot ko yung off button ng monitor during the describe image. Hahaha, bad luck. I will be taking the earliest available exam again. Anyone here who took the 3pm sched? I dont like the 12-3 sched anymore kasi andaming tao.
I took the 6pm schedule , still pending with the result

@tobby hi, actually puno rin kapag morning and almost everyone is shouting din. but actually based from my experience, shouting reduces the scores for oral fluency kasi nwwla ung pagiging natural and conversational which is tama naman, ung normal na pakikipag usap hndi nman nagsisigawan di ba.. Sobrang nkakadistract tlg ung mga sumisigaw. Btw, here are my scores for the three PTE exams I have taken and I think I have actually cracked the strategy on how to score above 79 in speaking:

    PTE-A 1st L90 R83 S55 W90
    PTE-A 2nd L87 R85 S52 W90
    PTE-A 3rd L90 R83 S80 W90

I have improved my score in Speaking from 52 to 80. :)

Oral fluency and pronunciation from 40/48 to 69/72. :)

    Pwede na rin. :)

    @theunknownbox

    Speaking Do’s and Don’ts

    Do’s
    1. Read the passage during the given extra time
    2. Speak with purpose. What do you want to say or why do you say it. What I did, during practice, I translated the sample read aloud passages to Filipino then I read them. So kung ano kung tone ko sa Filipino, most probably ganun din dapat yung pagkakasabi ko in English.

    Example:
Once most animals reach adulthood, they stop growing. In contrast, even plants that are thousands of years old continue to grow new needles, add new wood, blah blah blah.

Say it in Tagalog (sorry barok pero magegets nyo naman na):
Kapag matanda na ang mga hayop, humihinto na ang kanilang paglaki. Ngunit ang mga halaman, kahit gaano pa sila katanda, patuloy pa rin ang kanilang paglago. Blah blah blah.

Then, imitate your reading tone but reading the English version.

    3. For the other types in speaking, just RELAX. BE CALM. Be spontaneous. Like what I said, speak in English as if you are speaking in Filipino.

    Dont’s
    1. Don’t shout. Whenever oral fluency is affected when shouting.
    Read this by shouting:
Kapag matanda na ang mga hayop, humihinto na ang kanilang paglaki. Ngunit ang mga halaman, kahit gaano pa sila katanda, patuloy pa rin ang kanilang paglago. Blah blah blah

We don’t shout if we want to say this, right? We shout if we want to say words like: HELP! FIRE! RUN!
But these are not the words usually given in the PTE academic exam especially in read aloud.

    2. Don’t speak too slowly. You don’t need to stress every word. Spontaneity is more important rather than saying every.single.syllable.in.the.sentence.very.very.clearly.

    3. Don’t be distracted/pressured by your seatmates who speaks so loud. Sometimes, since the room is so noisy, we tend na makipagsabayan sa kanila and dun tayo nagkakamali. During my last PTE, a girl was shouting with all her might during the speaking test. Instead of being distracted, inisip ko nlang: “Naku ate, hindi mo ikakapasa yang pagsigaw sigaw mo.” Then I continued with my natural conversational reading. I still got 80 kahit na parang feeling ko hindi ako kasing effort magbasa ni ate na sumisigaw at ung describe image ko hndi ko lahat nadescribe ung info pero maayos ako magsalita, normal lang.

In summary, speak naturally. Kung paano ka makipag-usap sa tagalog (in terms of bilis at lakas), ganun lang din sa English. Hope this helps.

and one more thing na weird na ginawa ko, during read aloud, conscious ako sa pitch ko. Tntry ko at my best na babaan un boses ko. Nahihigh pitch kasi ako lalo na pag nilalakasan ko. Gumana nman nung binabaan ko ung boses ko nagiging natural dn. :)

Basta po make sure ung pagbabasa sa read aloud hndi parang nagdedeclamation, Oration, story telling, poem interpretation, or kung ano mang performance na ginagawa pag buwan ng wika. Just read as if nakikipag usap sa kapatid na mas bata. :)

haha.

Ung mic nga pla in between lower lip and chin sa left (tama ba sa left?or sa right dapat un?parang di sya pwede sa right e). Hindi ko kasi madecipher ung difference ng boses ko kht san nakapwesto ung mic parang parehas lang din kasi (pero baka ako lng yun). Ung last take ko dun nkapwesto ung mic.

Achievable ang above 79 sa speaking. Basta pag bumagsak, analyze muna kng san may mali at iimprove ung bago magbook ulit. 8.0 ako sa speaking ko sa ielts tapos sa pte nung unang takes 50+ lang. Galit na galit ako sa computer at sa pearson kasi confident ako na ok ang speaking ko. Yun pala may mali talaga. haha.

@ihsan21 sa reading hmm basta nagbabasa ako ng mabilis (but make sure naiintndhan pa rin) para marami png time para sa mga mhhrap na questions.

    sa re-order,
    1. hanapin mo muna ung topic - usually pangalan ng tao, bagay, hayop o pngyayari OR kung nagsstate ng mga pngyayari, ung pinakamaagang time like 200m yrs ago, in the past, etc.
    2. hanapin mo ung last sentence, usually conclusion to
    3. ung mga sentences sa gitna pagsunud sunurin mo lang based sa ginamit na pronoun or time reference

sorry ang labo ng explanation ko basta una ko hnhnap ung first tapos pangalawa kong hnhnap ung last. ung 2nd paragraph may word dapat dun na nabanggit sa first, ung 3rd paragraph may word (or kaparehong word) na binanggit sa 2nd ganun.. para syang connect the same objects..

@strayan naku girl thanks sa mga strategies mo sa speaking. natawa ako dun sa parang declamation or story telling na part kasi ganun ang ginawa ko nung 2nd take ko. ayun, imbes na tumaas, lalong bumaba. first take ko, 76 ang speaking ko tapos nagging 61 nung 2nd take hahaha. learned my lesson na.. naisip ko lang, other than sa nakaka distract yung ang daming maingay during speaking, baka nacacapture din ng mic yung mga boses ng mga katabi?

Hay, sana makuha ko na nag 20 points on my 3rd take. hindi rin biro ang bayad sa PTE. :(
