@pinoytalker it would be better if you know automated testing tools like Selenium. Certifications like ISTQB will also help na mapansin ka ng mga recruiter during their initial search.

I got a job in 3 weeks after landing here. Im a civil engineer. going on 4 mos na ko sa company. pero super stress. Important sknla ang local experience and isa naobserve ko is dapat CONFIDENT ka sa interview talaga and excellent communication skills mo.

Hi guys. I just want to share my job hunting story.

I sent about a hundred cvs in total and it took me exactly a month to finally land a job here in Sydney (arrived June 1st), and I must say, it wasn't an easy ride. I've received several rejections (both automated and personal replies) too, but I kept going

Here's a brief overview of my experience:

1st interview - with Hays, met a couple of recruiters
2nd interview - through Hays, company wanted local experience which I didn't have
3rd interview - applied directly to the company, got through the first round of interview only as they wanted someone with experience in the same industry (F&B)
4th interview - applied directly to the company, part-time, got through the first, second and third round of interviews (but eventually had to cancel because I got a job offer)
5th interview - through Hays, one interview only then job offer in the afternoon

6th interview - through referral, no current vacancies but kept my resume in their system
7th interview - with Robert Half, met two recruiters

As most people said in this forum, important talaga na nakapattern sa job description yung CV. One recruiter also told me that it would help to indicate a brief description of the nature of the company (size, what it does, industry) especially if it's not a multinational company. Based on my experience sa interviews, most of them asked competency/behavioral questions (ex. can you tell me about a time when you've been a team player) and it really helped that I prepared. Also, prepare for the "Tell Me About Yourself" bit, it can make or break your interview

Saying that you shouldn't be disheartened is easier said than done, kahit ako I wake up each day worried and sometimes afraid. But through constant prayers, and the support of my loved ones (especially my husband), I kept my faith and kept on applying. And me finding a job in a month, I believe is divine intervention

As a student, mahirap maghanap ng work especially one that is close to your related experience in my case, accounting. Browsed our uni website (careerhub) baka makatisod, after 1 month of waiting i landed a data project which is just pure spreadsheet and homebased, boring kung tutuusin but it helped me developed skills in communicating with my employer. And the owner requested me to help with admin stuff (answering phone, data entry), thought after finishing it all end contract na din. Then they offered me fixed maternity leave Finance position for 10 mos and I am very thankful.

Lots of prayers and patience, also makuha mo lang tiwala ng employer mo they will hold on to you and will look on ways to let you stay. Walang imposible.

Also to those accountants who are willing to go on the tax field, HR block offers tax seminars and training, although it is not free, magandang exposure siya according sa friend ko.

hello guys , kakarating ko lang dito sa victoria melbourne last June 11..
family kami dito dumating Visa 189 .. my wife is a chem eng .. and i am a retail management .. already apply for almost 100 + na , i already got 3 interview and got rejected , my wife naman got 2 interview got rejected din.. local experience tlga hanap nila.. sa last part ng question sa amen.. un ang hinahanap. .. ngaun lang namen nalaman na ganto pala kahirap mag apply dito... kahit may support kami makukuha galing centre link kaso di ganun kalakihan. :-(

@Lebford sa interview non stop ako ngsalita, inexplain ko na lahat ng pde. hehe sa local experience part, sbi ko un methodology up to par naman with singapore, mey difference siguro minor lang. Stress out mo sakinla na gusto mo long term and willing ka matututo. important sakanila ang character and willingness to learn.

It took me 2.5 months to get a job aligned with my profession. Ito ang takeaway ko s experience ko:

- Iba tlga un CV/Resume format (e.g wordings, desc of company, short summary of your competency). I actually had mine re-written by a professional pro ine-edit ko pa din kada position na-aapplyan ko based s job description.

- So far ang napansin kong nagmamatter un local experience is un non-IT positions n inapplyan ko. Although one particular recruiter, told me n mataas ang asking salary ko, binabaan nya kasi daw wala akong local experience (i did not got hired on that job though).

- make it as if na ang trabaho mo is maghanap ng trabaho. Everyday set specific time kung kelan ka mag apply and follow it strictly as if may boss ka na nag aantay ng results.

- Mas ok mag-migrate towards beginning of financial year. Ang daming tawag bigla and interviews after July 1, and within July 15 may offer na ko. Tapos na kasi ang taxation hindi n sila busy so madami company na focus n ulit s hiring.

- Confidence matters s interview. Kelangan mafeel din nila na naniniwala ka s sinasabi mo about yourself. Make it a sales pitch, focus on what you have achieved, kunwari nadrive up mo un sales by 50% or ang dami mong awards s previous companies (mas ok kung may ksamang numbers and figures un pag describe mo ng achievement). Most important, let your positive attitude show, pakita mo n willing to learn ka, you have plans to succeed in the company, and your up to the challenges.

- learn about the company. Lahat ng interview ko tinanong ako either "what do you know about us?" or "why ? Why do you want to work for us?". Kung hindi ka msyado nagresearch, mahihirapan ka sumagot and most likely hindi sila ma-iimpress.

- asking questions after the interview matters. Make sure na yung the way ka din mag question is mafeel nila n interesado ka s company and na magiging successful dun s position. I particularly like asking this question, "what qualities do your top employees have in common?", gusto ko marinig un sagot and gusto ko iparating sa kanila na hindi lng ako napadaan lang s company, andito ako to make a difference and be one of your top employees.

@elleb1 actually dito ko s pinoyau nakita. May isang topic ata about professional cv writing (i forgot the exact topic). Medyo mahal, 360AUD un resume + 20AUD un cover letter (both has gst). All in all nasa 400aud un nilabas ko.
