Student Visa to PR Visa

may cases ba recently na holder ng student visa then nag apply agad ng 189? i read some here pero not much information.

situation ko kasi, i was granted student visa with class start on aug. 1, 2016. Just today, I got invitation to apply for 189. hindi ba complicated na mag lodge ng 189 visa given the situation that I was granted already a student visa? I have 60 days to lodge 189 application and by that time, I am already in Aus. Thinking to apply 189 when I get to Aus.

any thoughts? appreciate sharing here. tnx

@tangentph hmmm at this point choice mu na lang tlaga if you still want to pursue yung student route or PR na agad. Ang alam ko lang mas mkkmura ka sa tuition fees if you enroll as a PR, I'm sure the Aug1 class nka international student rate ka pa, good luck!

Kung makakalusot ka as PR yun nalang kasi may kahirapan ang maging student dito sa aus. I went through it and thank you lord at citizen na kami.

If your papers are ready for pr application then go for it. Advice ko lang is to make sure kuha mo yung work experience and assessed as suitable ka sa nominated work mo.

Nagdaan kame ng pamilya ko through hardship talaga dito dahil mahal magaral dito. My fees were $8k per sem and i had a child with me.

Pero dun sa mga naka student ngayon, just make sure you have a path ahead of you meaning pwede magapply ng PR after finishing university kasi marami din dito na stuck na sa student visa limbo

Kumusta ang situation mo?
Parang mas malala ang application ko. Under 485 ako ngayun, expiration sa October. So nagapply ako ulit ng student visa last July 11.
Wala kasi ako enough points for PR. then July 19 nakuha ko NAATA Accreditation (very unexpected!!!) so may 60 points na ako.

I submitted EOI then nainvite ako. I applied July 21.

So dalawa ang ongoing visa ko ngayun! student and 189. Ayaw ko withdraw student visa application just in case ma-deny ang 189.

@mimic just so you know if ma grant PR visa mo then ma grant yung student visa mo. matatangal ang PR visa mo so back to zero k..kaya pag isipan mo.

make.sure lng n mauna yung student visa mo ma grant before ma grant PR visa mo..para PR visa ang huli

@tooties yes tama ka, if magrant ang PR ko bago student kailangn ko magemail agad to withdraw my student visa application. Sana magrant student bago PR. thanks!

@tooties may idea ka ba if maapprove student visa ko then may "No further stay", if maaapektuhan ang currently lodge 189 visa or yung new visa application after student visa grant lang ang apektado?

@mimic dito na ako sa sydney. hindi pa ako nagsubmit ng applicaiton. 2 weeks pa deadline ko bago mag expire ung invitation so sasagarin ko muna. busy pa hanap ng matutuluyan e. balitaan kita kung ano mangyayari sa ganitong situation.

Bro I will be facing the same situation like you in the future. Pending na kasi yung student visa ko tapos mag a apply ano ng 189 for PR. Ngayon ko lang nalaman na mawawala pala ang bisa ng PR pag na overlap ng other visas. I hope everything will workout for us. I will follow this thread bro for future reference. @mimic Exactly 60 points for 189. Pero di pa ako nag la lodge. 2018 pa mag expire student visa ko hopefully. Hindi kaya magkaka problem if nagrant na yung student visa ko then after a month or two maglodge ako ng PR? Baka isipin kasi ng DIAC na oh ang bilis naman nito mag apply ng ibang visa

@thatbadguy ay pag aapprove na wala ng problema. Separate ang pagaasikaso ng visa. Although ako nga kinakabahan pa rin dahil parehas ongoing ang dalawang visa ko. very contradictory diba? student and PR.

Pero pag tapos na and grant na ang isang visa wala na problema. Actually tumawag ako immi last week before lodging 189. I ask if applying 189 will affect my student visa application and vice versa, sabi naman hindi.

Tawag ka immi para panatag ka. mabait sila and helpful. Ask mo if okay lang magapply agad although I really think it's not a problem.

prob kung sakali.

Yung sa amin nga lang di na namin inantay yung grant from student visa, winidraw na namin siya nung makapagapply kami ng PR at nung makuha na namin yung bridging visa from PR. Pls note though that withdrawal is different from cancellation.

Yung kakilala namin, inantay yung grant ng student visa kaso wala akong balita kung nakuha na niya PR grant. Ang student visa pala may 28 days na cooling period from the date of withdrawal.

Kung tama yung pagkakaalala ko sabi sa amin ng staff sa immi wala yung tinatawag na overlapping ng student visa to PR. The staff even told us na marami ang gumagawa na dalwang visa ang inaapplyan. If you're in Melb they have an office in Lonsdale that you can go to.

Wow Cassey this is soooo helpful. I've been looking and searching literally everywhere for similar case.

Withdraw ko student visa ko in a week pag wala pang descision. Hirap kasi pag nagwithdraw, paano pag nadeny ang PR lol. Edi kailangan umalis ng bansa or mag re-apply ng student visa?

overlapping as in 2 visa at the same time? Sure ako na hindi pwede yun kaya takot ako ngayun.

3x na ako tumawag immi, helpful naman, kaya lang hindi sila nagbibigay ng advice kasi hindi sila MARA and tama sila, nasa akin ang descision. Kung ano priority ko, syempre PR

Problema kasi pag na-grant 189 before student visa, pag nag submit ng withdrawal for student visa, sabi nung immi sa phone kanina nung tumawag ako, date of application of withdrawal is not the withdrawal date. Hihintayin pa na maprocess ang withdrawal date.

So may chance na ma-grant ang student visa between submission of application withdrawal and processing. Nakakatakot i-risk, mawawala PR.

@mimic Pag refuse ang PR (hopefully hindi), you'll have 28 days to leave Au. Im not sure whether you can use this time to apply for another visa..

I totally understand where you're coming from, it's such a daunting process...

Nagapply kami ng student visa March 18, then nagapply for PR ng May 2. Winithdraw namin yung student visa ng May 9 na naacknowledge that same day din. Yung bridging visa A from student visa ay may cooling period ng 28days kaya nagceased lang siya June 6.. Nung June 7 pa lang nagtake effect yung Bridging visa C (from 189 visa).

Pag once na nasubmit mo na yung withdrawal form ng student visa at naacknowledge na, you're on the safe side na..provided na magagrant yung PR.

@mimic I'm quite positive na sinabi talaga sa amin sa Immi Lonsdale na hindi maooverlap ng student visa yung PR visa kahit pa nagrant yung student visa after PR... siguro clarify mo na lang din.. Minsan kasi paiba iba ng sagot ang immi...

@Cassey nabasa ko somewhere pwede ata magApply student habang nasa bridging A although yung bridging visa na makukuha without work rights.

Bakit ang tagal ng student visa processing onshore noh? Nung ako sa pinas noon 6 years ago 4 working days lang

@mimic Tagal nga nung result ng student visa application. 572 kasi yan, hehe Unlike 573 na super bilis...

Yung student visa na winidraw ba? Nagexpire yun ng June 6 kasabay nung bridging visa A na nakaattach sa kanya. Nasa safeside ka na once na may acknowledgment from DIAC regarding your withdrawal kahit na ala pang 28days from withdrawal date.

eto pala yung nakalagay sa PR grant notification:
"You may wish to consider withdrawing any other undecided visa applications you have lodged with this Department. If you are granted another substantive visa this visa will cease and if applicable, may affect your eligibility for government benefits such as Centrelink or Medicare. To withdraw any other visa applications, you must advise the Department in writing."

di ba substantive visa yung student visa? so possible talaga na ma-override ng student visa yung PR visa.
