How to convert PH Driver's License to AU Driver's License?

@prcand sa Binan Laguna kasi ako nagparenew. hindi ko alam na ganito pala katagal ang pag gawa ng card. sana pala sa main office or las pinas nalang ako nagpunta. hays. mukang mag tyatyaga ako ng 5 months public transpo sa melbourne neto. yung PIDP kaya recognized kaya yun sa mebourne? wala kasi info about Philippine international driving permit (PIDP) sa vicroads, pero may nakalgay na australia sa list of contracting countries ng PIDP.

@angel_grin nagparenew ako last Feb sa LTO nung bakasyon sa pinas. swerte naman may available card. @prcand nadeliver na SG DL card ko kahapon. nung March 31 ako kumuha ng BTT at nagpaconvert.

@engineer20 renew sa LTO main ba ito? sila lang kasi meron, at same day releasing so far. ung ibang offices (kahit makati / manila) wala...

ambilis pala ng SG DL, if march 31st ka nagpa-convert, parang 1 week lang.

@angel_grin swerte lang na meron sila available card nung araw na yun. inabot lang ako ng 2 hours sa pagrenew. initial entry din namin sa May pero di pa ko magpapaconvert to Au DL, next year na lang sa big move.

@prcand yup 1 week lang. buti mabilis pero ang published timeframe nila ay within 1 month.

Sana po me makasagot, MAs ok po na me drivers license n ako bago ako dumting ng AU ? ano po advantage ? This Sept. pa ksi ang flght ko, plan ko sana mag apply ng drivers license at enrol nadin sa driving skul pra pag dating ko AU me Non-pro na ako. Or mas ok po ba sa AU nako mag aral ? baka ksi mas mahal doon. salamat po sa sasagot.

@DreamerA never had a DL before? if yes, same case tayo.. based sa mga advice sakin, mas OK na kumuha ka ng license sa pinas from student permit after a month apply for non-pro DL. dahil if u'll start from scratch it will take you around 4 yrs to get full license..
advantage din sa paghahanap ng work ang drivers license..

then sa AU try to convert.. each state has there own req'ts.. generally hndi ka agad full license pero mababawasan ang req'ts.. sa melby ang parang pinaka OK.. provisional license agad bibigay sayu then if makacomplete mo na ang 2 yrs, full license na.. verify mo sa state kung san ka punta sa req'ts nila.. @Captain_A : yes sir , hndi ako pako nkpag apply lsensya kahit isang beses kasi sa Dubai d nmn ako nag ddrive nsa plnta lang . Ung ngayun kasi sa AU , inadvise kmi na un nga prng hndi uso ang nag ccomute mas Ok pag me sarling car. @Captain_A : sa hastings, Victoria ako.. First Class Welder . me nabasa kasi ako dto prang pag hndi pa ganun katagal lisensya mo prng pag dating modun ulit kadin tlga from zero. Pero about sa sinabe mo, mag apply n ako dto baka ksi mas mahal dn sa AU mag driving lesson. salamat

so kung from scratch ka kukuha.. u need 5 yrs bago makakuha ng full license.. pero kung may overseas license ka na sa P2 kana agad.. paki double check na lang..

Hehe tama po analogy mo. Mas mabuti pong kuha na lang ng DL sa Phils kasi mas mabilis kang makakakuha ng full license dito sa Au at mas makakamura ka rin. If you'll be starting from scratch here in Au, you'll have to have 120hrs of supervised driving. Yung learner's permit may exam bago ka mabigyan around $40 i think.. Tapos ang driving lessons nasa $50 for 45mins. Pero kailngan mo pa ring magpractice dito kasi right hand drive sila at maraming roundabouts plus trams... hehe

@DreamerA sa nsw parang pag 5 years na may DL ka sa pinas, bibigyan ka ng full license as long as maipasa mo ang theory at driving test. sa first 3 months dito sa nsw, pwede kang mag-drive without supervision as long as may DL ka sa pinas (hindi student permit).

mahal ang driving lessons dito depende sa suburb. dito sa north sydney $65/ hour (http://www.belgicadrivingschool.com.au/prices.html).

may advantage ang may DL ka sa pinas kung pagdating mo dito makakabili ka agad ng kotse tas makakapagpraktis ka sa first 3 months mo dito para sa driving test mo.

kung wala kang DL from pinas, start ka from scratch. mag-driving instructor ka tas pag learner license ka kelangan may full license holder kang kasama twing magda drive. sobrang hassle at sakit sa bulsa. lakas pang maka-taga ng mga driving instructor kasi kukwentuhan ka lang sa 1 hour na lesson mo kaya bawat session at least 2 hours ka para may 1 hour na driving practice ka.

so para sa akin mas ok na pagdating dito (assuming may DL ka sa pinas na hindi student permit) bili ka agad ng mumurahing ktose at pagpraktisan mo for 3 months para pasado agad sa driving test.

kung magda-driving instructor ka kailangan mo 20~50hours para maging handa ka sa driving test. yung 20hrs pa lang 20x$65=$1300 na agad, ang sakit sa bulsa. hehe!

nagdrive ako sa pinas from 2006~2014 kala ko madali lang maka-adjust dito pero ang daming kaibahan dito:
1) iba ang flow ng traffic dito baliktad ng pinas
2) dalawa lang ang acceptable steering methods sa driving test: hand-over-hand at push-pull method
3) iba ang lugar ng steering wheel
4) maguguluhan ka sa roundabout
5) matindi ang road rules at may speed limit depende sa kalsada
6) maninibago ka sa bilis nila mag-drive sa mga intersections, roundabout, etc.

kailangan ng kotse dito kasi may mga trabahong malalayo ang lugar at kailangan may kotse ka para makapasok agad.saka mas ok ang may kotse mabilis makakapunta sa mga gustong puntahan.

@Captain_A Oo P2 pag less than 3yrs provided na more than 21yrs old pero need na ipasa yung 3 tests -road law knowledge test, hazard perception test at yung drive test.

Pag bumagsak sa exam alam ko di mo na magagamit yung overseas drivers license mo to drive in Vic, need mo magresit uli at kuha ng learners permit..

Hi guys, meron ba ditong holder ng overseas DL aside from Philippines?

My situation is i am holding a brunei DL since 2012 but i dont know kung pwede ko un gamitin sa AU for the first 3 months dahil hindi nmn ako citizen of brunei. Wala rin ako PH DL kasi dito na ko sa brunei nag start mag drive. Anybody had the same case like mine?
