@lianzstar Kung di ako nagkakamali 3mos or equivalent to 450 hrs para makapagbridging... i'll have to confirm first though. For the PR you need 3 years to get 5 points for the work experience.

@Cassey yes po i'm planning sana to enrol in BP. May i ask if after your BP you can get a work right away? Another one is that do i really need an agent to get there if i want to bring my family with me?

@lianzstar I just called AHPRA and they said that one needs 450 hrs of experience within the last 5 yrs to be eligible to the BP program. But i doesn't end there, because you need to make sure as well that you'll be able to meet the points for PR.

@GhaieCee You can get a work but it depends entirely on your situation. Some were able to but some needed to go home because they couldn't find a job to sponsor them. Just like what I've been telling everyone always have a Plan B because it's not guaranteed that you'd find job that will sponsor you. Regardless though, you can still apply for PR even if you need to go home after the BP. I would say based on our experience that you don't have to get an agent, you just need to do a lot of readings on how to go about your application which you can do here in the forum by the way. But if you have a complicated situation, then best to get an agent.

@Cassey Hello madam, I have a question regarding NMBA and AHPRA. I've read that nurses can choose between going the qualifications route (NMBA) or the experience route (AHPRA) to get their PR. I'm not sure if that is correct but if you know the details, please elaborate for us.

I know the popular option is to go in as a student, get the bridging program, and find a company that will sponsor you, but I'm curious on the other routes.

Registered Nurses from the Philippines who want to gain registration here in Australia needs to study first. They can either:

    1. Take the BRIDGING COURSE. (Requires 450 hrs of work experience within the past 5 yrs and a certain mark must be met for the English test)
Duration is only 3 months. If you can't find an employer to sponsor you, you'll have to go back to the Philippines.
    * Regardless though you can still apply for PR once you've finish your course.*

    2. Do the CONVERSION COURSE.
This may take a year or 2 depending on the uni you'll be enrolling in. After finishing the course, you might have to apply for another visa if you want to stay in Australia to finish lodging your papers.

Please take note that you somehow need to have an idea of how many points you'll get for the PR. With the bridging course, it wouldn't count as an Australian qualification so if you're lacking points, maybe Conversion course would be more suitable for you as it's considered an Australian qualification which may add up to your needed points for the PR application.

For the points test, here's the link:

Ang iniicp ko ngayon ay kung anong unang hakbang ang gagawin ko pra makapagtrabaho as nurse in d future? @gsont0t Hi, normal lang na kabahan ka kasi siyempre pagpunta mo rito daming adjustments. Kung tutuusin maswerte ka dahil PR ka na pagdating mo rito. Mas mahirap pag nagstart ka rito ng student visa. Just think about it na naka1step ahead na kayo. Kung gusto mong magwork as a nurse kuha ka ng English test mo. Dun mo madedetermine kung pwede kang magbridging or conversion course. Sorry ano yung NDP? Okay lang na hindi clinical experience provided na may proof ka from your employer. Para magwork as a nurse kailangan mong magaral just like eveyone else. Pag nakatapos ka that's the time na pwede ka ng magregister then work as nurse. Before coming over to Au make sure to bring all your documents.

Hi guys! Have you heard of the agency Philman or education linkages? If somebody from you have experienced these agency can u tell how was it? By the way I am a nurse and planning to work in Australia. I have availed the free OET from Philman and luckily I was able to pass. Now I am having dilemma if I will pursue my application pa. Medyo madami na kasi ako nababasa na hindi maganda about sa Philman.

@nursealexi Not until walang formal announcement, it's considered a rumor or it could be na nasa planning stage. Last year may ganyan ding issue, ang sabi is tatanggalin na ang bridging course but until now meron pa naman.

@nursealexi Wala naman akong narinig na ieextend. Ang huli kong narinig which is a year ago pa eh tatanggalin pero hindi naman nagmaterialize. Up to this moment its all hearsay. Wala namang nakalagay sa Newsletter nila and ang recent na public consultation nila is regarding the Code of Conduct ng Nurses. Kung may ganung usapan man, there will be a public consultation and makikita sa newsletter.

@Cassey Thanks for the time and patience in answering all the questions. Iclarify ko lang po sana if I get to choose the conversion course for a year or two with only 9months of hospital experience as a volunteer nurse here from 2012-2013. Then ng shift into Medical Coding til present. I'm planning to take the july 2016 or feb 2017 intake. Hindi pa ba expired nun ung sa experience ko pag mg apply na sa APHRA or for PR? Considering na 2018 or 2019 na yung year nun. Sorry ha, ung technicalities kasi concern ko. Also, does volunteer nurse experience count? Thabka in advance! :)

@bOgs_25 Recency of practice states that work experience should be within 5yrs. It's 2017 already, (kindly check your post with your planned intake) For it to be considered for PR, you must have a minimum paid 3yrs work experience (endorsed by ANMAC) to get 5 points. I called AHPRA just now to ask them about your situation but they said that they couldn't give an advice with regards to your assessment/registration. With regards to voluntary work, according to AHPRA's website practice maybe remunerated or not so basing from that i guess as long as you have proper documents to prove it, it'll be considered but at the end of the day, decision is still up to AHPRA.

@aishee5 Hi, yung 2yrs na yun conversion course pa rin tama ba? Meron kasing requirement for overseas nurses na tinatawag na recency of practice para maregister ka as Nurse dito sa Au. You need at least 450 hrs within the last 5yrs.

    @Jiraya

You'll need an English Test, whatever pathway you choose. If it's a voluntary work, you have to provide an evidence and AHPRA will have to assess your experience.

@Jiraya Deakin Uni nagoofer sila ng 1 yr conversion course, Victoria Uni yata is 2 years and even La Trobe...Search mo rin ang ACU baka meron din silang conversion course.
AECC Global is agency na free ang service for those who want to study here in Au. You can try IDP rin, free rin ang service nila. :) They can guide you with the visa processing, etc.
