    hello! pasensya na ngayon lang ako ulit nakapagbasa.

    I suggest you join pinoy.md as it is a wealth of resource/information regarding all the steps/issues/concerns for pinoy doctors in Australia. Meron din tayo FB page. :)

    I have to admit that it is getting trickier by the year. This is mainly because their own government is increasing the number of medical graduates for quite a number of years now. So, their own graduates are flooding the system which makes it difficult for foreign doctors such as ourselves. But what we bring to the table is clinical experience that we get from the Philippines. So, as to your question if it is still open - it definitely still is. Kailangan mo lang gandahan CV mo to show that to employers. As a first step though, get the exams sorted. AMC 1 is a must now, but they actually prefer that you have AMC 2 as well. You will need IELTS for AHPRA, but I'm sure kaya mo yan. Then apply to all hospitals in Australia all over. We remain in SOL, so there will be no issues with visa as long as makakuha ka ng employer. That is, if kailangan mo visa sponsorship.

    I'm paeds din sa atin and doing paeds dito. Goodluck :)

    @Aiza05 Hi!

    I have post an answer here if you want to take a read: http://pinoyau.info/discussion/8687/filipino-doctors-planning-to-practice-in-australia

    Regarding studying medicine dito, I actually don't know the answer to that, as I studied medicine in the Philippines. You might wanna try forums of prospective medical students? Or try email medical schools and ask to be hooked up to the student community. I am based in QLD and UQ is the medical university.

    Cheers, goodluck!

    @Nadine Hi Ms. Nadine! Did you have to undergo the specialist assessment pathway? Or did you go back to zero? That is, AMC pathway to do housemanship?

    Would you know any Filipino doctor who finished residency in the Philippines and got through via the specialist assessment pathway? Or because we are considered to have had a third-world kind of training, we have to start from scratch? Thank you!

    @ElsuiveMD14 , hi!

    Wala eh. I know of no Filipino doctor (paeds or other fields) who went straight onto the specialist pathway. That is not to say that no Filipino doctor tried. Madami have applied but the cost for assessment can be anywhere from $10,000 to 20,000 with zero guarantee. Most I know were assessed partially comparable - meaning, they would still have to do training and exams anyway. I have yet to come across one who has been assessed as equivalent. Sa pagkaka- alam ko, only doctors from UK,US, Nz, Canada, Ireland etc can skip the standard pathway and do specialist straight away. They are the "comparable health system", ika nga. What I might suggest, if you are really keen, is to start at least with the assessment with AMC. There is nothing stopping you from doing both standard and specialist from the get-go. Or you can do what I did and do one at a time. I have finished my standard pathway now and preparing to do specialist exams - so I am now on the specialist path.

    P.S. If what you mean as starting "from scratch" is not starting as consultant or even resident/registrar trainee, then yes, you won't start in a senior position. To be brutally honest, doctor job competition is through the roof these days that any doctor is just happy to have one. Honestly, I wouldn't worry about that yet until you have started your AMC assessment.

    Hi! I suppose the rumours are true - but don’t let that deter you though.

    Alam mo ba when I took my first amc exam way back 4 years ago, there were already rumours of tightening regulations for MDs. And there were new rules, turned out the rumours were true. But I am here, and I am doing my specialty exams now, so it’s possible. If this is what you really want - Then go for it. If it’s your dream, then that is your answer isn’t it?

    Expenses are in the tens of thousands, I’m afraid. Yung amc 1 exam 4yrs ago was almost P100k eh ($2k I think). That does not include reviews and fees and applications. May review dito for amc2 priced at $10k!! Review lang yan, exam is $3-4k... Mahal - can’t really say there is a specific figure. But it’s a lot. So be prepared for the long haul.

    @freshMD

    Forgot to add-on pala (before I hit submit button):

    - you don't have to do formal reviews or buy new reviewers. Kaya naman alone eh, to minimise the expense. But weigh the pros and cons though. For AMC 1, I suggest do it alone if you can. For AMC2, you need study partner/group. I did the workbased for AMC2, which is slightly different. Pero I still had study groups and discussion. I did not do any formal reviews for any of those (ang mahal!)
    - suggest visiting pinoymd community under AMC thread as madami tips dun
    - I am not sure if you know, I have posted a very long discussion about the steps from the exams to registration (and everything in between that I can think of). Hanapin ko link and I will post it below
    - goodluck, balitaan mo kami dito

    Hello Doc @Nadine and everyone, im asking on behalf of a doctor friend. She's currently a pedia resident on her senior year. She's keen on going to Australia for at least a short term training and/or fellowship. I hope you can advise on how best to prepare and apply. Dapat daw kasi may makuha muna na program before visa stuff but confusing on when how where to start. Initial searches led to RACP and the accredited training sites that eventually require to apply on aphra and/or the matching site (ATSM). Which pediatric hospitals would you know that offer training programs? Appreciate your thoughts on how to get things going. Thank you very much in advance.
