@edybear, yup nakakalito yung timer sa mock ksi overall time ang nilalagay nya unlike sa Real PTE exam divided yung overall time per item task.

@edybear based on experience, sobra talaga yung oras. Nasa approach or diskarte mo na lang din. May exercises na set ung time per item, like sa Writing: essays = 20mins each, summarize written texts = 10mins each. Sa Speaking naman yung Read Aloud, Describe Image at Retell Lecture 40secs per item. For Reading and majority of Listening encompassing yung time for the items. @Supersaiyan sure, no worries. In general, multi-tasking kay Listening ang approach ko.

For MCQ, I do listen and understand kung ano mga sinasabi, important dito is maabsorb mo talaga kung ano ung sinasabi para if di ka man makapili agad ng answer eh may proper recall ka ng passage. Pero at the same time I skim through the choices, usually kasi (at least for me) nasa sinasabi na yung answers. Kumbaga, paraphrased yung nsa choices ng sinabi ng speaker.

For Highlight Correct Summary, same thing din. Though may ibang tips na nagsasabing listen fully first then read the choices afterwards. Para sakin kasi mas comfortable ako mag listen-understand-read at the same time, para mas mautilize ko time ko properly. Kumbaga, binubuo ko na ung gist ng sinasabi ni speaker sa mind ko with the help of reading through the choices and pick the best answer.

For both exercises, it would really help to listen attentively. Similar to how you would focus for Retell Lecture para makuha main point and keywords, dapat ganun din dito. Hindi nako nagnonotes sa Listening (except sa SST, which I type directly na) para focus ko andun sa pakikinig sa speaker at pagbabasa ng choices.

Yun ang battle ko di ko alam kung anong strategies ang palagay ako. Minsan sa dami ng choices ang tngin ko tama lahat. Haha. Thanks po sa insights. @ray1188 yaka nten to. Hehe. Hirap nga din ako sa WFD laki ng points pa nman non lalo kpag nkuha lahat.

@ray1188 for writing practice talaga. I guess it helps na due to the nature of my work, email is part of daily activities kaya passively napapractice yung pagcompose ko ng sentences hehe. For essay, mix of E2Language guide plus yung template ni Steven. For WFD, pikit -kinig - type

focus lang din talaga and practice, madami naman materials for this kasi kahit anong video clips lang pwede mo na gamitin.

@Supersaiyan listen to your gut

in the end, ikaw naman ang magttake ng exam. So sa practice mo kung san ka mas nakakakuha ng mas mtaas na score, I suggest dun ka na magstick. Then add your own flavor sa approach na mapipili mo. It is good to read lots of tips and strategies, pero you have to filter and pick maybe top 3 na sa tingin mo you can mimic. After nun, practice using those and incorporate ung changes na gusto mo if you feel it will help. Then ultimately decide on one, then yun na ung sanayin mo sarili mo pra reflex na lang siya sayo.

Hello!! Silent reader po ako dito. I just took the PTE exam last March 27 and got my desired scores.

Thank you very much sa input dito and mga tips. I can say na very effective ung mga tips nila sir @Heprex and sir @batman. Thank you very much po. Kahit mejo naghahang ako sa test lalo na sa describe image, I got what I needed. Watch nyo din po ung mga youtube videos sa e2 language very helpful lalo ung mock tests nila. I would like to sell din po ung Gold Test kit na binili ko-2.5k. Ung test a & b available pa po. ung test a hanggang answer short question lang nasagutan ko and you can continue to do the test. hello! received my pte result today also, surprisingly I got 65 overall score

but sa communicative skill si speaking ay 54. less than 65 is not acceptable ata for ahpra assessment. gusto ko parin i submit since dito lang naman sa part na ito ako na fall short sa score, tatangapin po kaya nila yun para maka proceed na ako sa BN? nakakagulat lang na kung saan expected na mataas ako yun ang mababa.

@nicnac hi! For writing essay I used E2 language format and applying what I learned from Ielts. Sa intro, sa 1st sentence ni restate ko lang yung question using my own words. Then sa 2nd sentence if one sided lang yung question, I give summary of the reasons ( 2 reasons only). Example, if ang essay is about importance of computers (one sided), eto 2nd sentence ko. Computers are valuable resources as they (1st reason) aid in learning and are (2nd reason) used to communicate with others. Then sa 3rd sentence sasabihin ko para pampahaba-- In this essay, I shall discuss my point of view by giving points and examples about the topic.

Then sa 2nd paragraph, elaborate ko na ang 1St reason. Mga 2 sentences na magsupport sa 1st reason, like if yung 1st reason ko is aid in learning, expand ko ang topic by answering how computers aid in learning,etc. Usually yung reason mo convert mo by asking how, what, when, or who. Tapos sa 3rd sentence, I state examples. Pwede ka din mag add pa ng 4th sentence parang isummarize mo lang ang 2nd paragraph.

Sa 3rd paragraph discuss naman ang 3rd reason same sa ginawa sa 2nd par.

4Th paragraph 1st sentence conclusion, then 2nd sentence recommendation.

If 2 sided naman yung intro pwede mo gamitin yung nasa template like kina Heprex na samples. Then yung 2nd par yung kabilang side, then yung 3rd paragraph yung other side. Tapos same last paragraph.

If medyo nahihirapan ka sa mga ideas, research ka dito sa forum ng mga recent topics. Tapos based dun sa topic reasearch ka anong pwedeng maging points and reasons para may idea ka na ano ilalagay mo sa essay.

Ang key talaga sa writing is dapat marami ka ideas. If nahihirapan ka mag construct ng idea try to research as much as possible. Google mo yung mga common or recent topics on pte writing tapos may mga sample questions dun,, then research mo ano possible answers para sa actual exam may idea kana ano isasagot. Tapos dpat familiarize mo mga connectors (like moreover, therefore, for instance, etc) kasi mas mataas ang grade kapag medyo complex ang sentence na ginagamit mo kesa simple sentences lang.

For summarize written text strategy ko is to first get ano main topic. Then analyze what important points were given, may nangyari ba? If meron ano ang nangyari, kelan nangyari? ano at para kanino ang purpose? Usually kasi sa mga paragraphs naka detail lang pero yung point lang naman dun is parang dinedescribe lang yung main topic. If you can answer who/what, when, how and why about the topic pwede mo na pagdugtungin yung ideas mo thru connectors and form a sentence. If you will have multiple paragraphs, summarize mo muna per paragraph then summarize mo ulit lahat in one sentence.

Another tip also in writing as much as possible do not repeat the same words. If you dont have much stored knowledge about synonyms okay lang. Practice and Research is the key. Kaya malaki ang help sa akin yung pag research sa mga common or recent topics kasi while practicing pwede akong mghanap ng synonyms then mas madali ko syang ma recall sa actual exam kasi nagawa ko na sya before. Tapos if meron kayong word na ma encounter na parang hirap kayo mag elaborate, google nyo din anong synonym or phrases na pwedeng same meaning ng word. Share ko yung nilista kong mga synonyms na possible na magagamit sa mga essay kasi minsan these are the topics commonly asked.
