My status:
I'am a graduate of BS Mech Eng'g in known institute sa Manila. I'm 35 y/o now. I worked in a consulting firm small company of oil and gas industry (our client is Shell) for almost 12 yrs and going. Although hindi ko gaano nagmit yung pagiging ME graduate ko sa work ko.
I want to work abroad (AUS) dahil lumalaki na pamilya ko. I have 3 kids, 2 is schooling and a toddler. My wife is only a housewife. Worried lang kmi sa future nila.
But I have a brother is currently in AUS, I think approved na PR nila dahil pinadala sya ng company nya for good.
Also my brother want to sponsor my eldest son his studies in AUS starting high school in 2019.
My Plan:
I plan to get student visa and take a vocational course in automotive. Yung brother ko naman ang mag sponsor sakin ng studies ko in AUS. At the same time mag part-time job para matutusan ko pang gastos for self and para sa family ko na nsa Pinas.
Then kung matapos ko na ung course, baka sakaling maka hanap ng regular work sa AUS (pwede ba yun?) and if palarin migrate ko na family ko from Pinas.
My Questions:
1. Sa dami dami ng nabasa ko dito puro bachelor, masteral lang ba ang na aapproved for student visa? how about vocational like Automotive? may possibility rin ba?
2. Nabasa ko sa GTE na temporary ka lang talaga dito sa AUS for study purposes only, pero pano nagagawa ng iba na maka kuha ng regular work sa AUS? any tips naman
Thanks po sa makakasagot/tulong.

You can nominate an occupation that is related to your work experience, and then study automotive once you get a PR visa. From what I know, the tuition fees for PRs are lower than for international students, so it might be worth waiting a bit to save money in the long run.
As a student kasi, you are limited to 20 hours per week, and it's not easy to find a job that might be related to your course (if you're trying to build your local experience). Most people I've asked said that working part-time to pay for living costs is doable, but it will be difficult if you are also working to send money back home or if you're supporting your family in AU. Once you graduate from a 2-year course (whether vocational/higher education), you might be eligible for 485 temporary graduate visa, which allows you full work rights depending on the program you've completed. Mind you, this is NOT a PR visa. You'll have to lodge a separate skilled visa application to be able to migrate your whole family to Australia.
As to your question regarding courses regarding student visa, you can enroll for vocational courses (like automotive) as long as the school and the program are CRICOS-registered. If you mean whether you can use that vocational course to migrate to Australia, I believe it's possible, but you have to choose whether to nominate your oil-and-gas occupation (which is based on your current work experience) or automotive-related occupation (based on your Australian studies).
GTE is unrelated to the process of getting full-time work. It is a statement to certify that your plans to go to Australia are really for study purposes; DHA (immigration) uses it to "measure" how legit are your plans to study in Australia. Of course, plans can change along the way and during studies, so if the student decides to stay in Australia to work full-time, they can do so as long as they have the proper visa (485, 457, 189, 190, 489, etc). Typically in the GTE, you emphasize your intentions to study lang. While I think it's possible to mention your future plans about working in AU after your studies, I would advise against it because you don't want to give DHA a reason to outright reject your visa application (because it will look like you do plan to stay in Australia beyond your studies).

You can read DHA's full explanation here. If you're curious which institutions are eligible for SVP (streamlined visa processing), you can click here.

As for SOP, I've heard it's about the same as the GTE, so you can take a look at the comment I made on another thread: GTE sample content
If that's the suggestion of your agent and they know it works, it's worth a try. With the SVP kasi, the burden of vetting genuine students are transferred to the school/uni instead of DHA (formerly DIBP, aka immigration). Kaya siguro ngayon mas strict ang requirements ng school kasi trabaho na nila ang magfilter ng mga totoong students, so your husband has to first pass the requirements of the school. If makakatulong na subsequent entrant kayong dependents nya, then go for it. At this point, since wala pa siyang offer or eCoE from the uni, baka gahulin kayo sa oras. You have to consider kasi the time to apply and get that offer letter, enrol to get eCoE (aka pay for tuition), apply for visa, and do medicals. What documents po ba ang mag-eexpire na and kelan sila mag-expire?
@julypearl wow ang bilis nga! congrats!
