Guys, sino po sa inyo nag-Cebu Pacific papunta Oz? Mahigpit ba sila sa hand carry luggage? Yun laptop ba ay hindi sinasama sa tinitimbang na 7kg? Sobra kasi ako sa 7kg kung kasama laptop.

@Lexi for cebpac they allow 1 personal bag OR 1 laptop bag and 1 -7kg hand carry luggage. Thats what Ive read sa website nila. If you choose to bring a laptop bag dapat wla ka na personal bag.

PTE Writing Tips
For writing essay I used E2 language format and applying what I learned from Ielts. Sa intro, sa 1st sentence ni restate ko lang yung question using my own words. Then sa 2nd sentence if one sided lang yung question, I give summary of the reasons ( 2 reasons only). Example, if ang essay is about importance of computers (one sided), eto 2nd sentence ko. Computers are valuable resources as they (1st reason) aid in learning and are (2nd reason) used to communicate with others. Then sa 3rd sentence sasabihin ko para pampahaba-- In this essay, I shall discuss my point of view by giving points and examples about the topic.
Then sa 2nd paragraph, elaborate ko na ang 1St reason. Mga 2 sentences na magsupport sa 1st reason, like if yung 1st reason ko is aid in learning, expand ko ang topic by answering how computers aid in learning, etc. Usually yung reason mo convert mo by asking how, what, when, or who. Tapos sa 3rd sentence, I state examples. Pwede ka din mag add pa ng 4th sentence parang isummarize mo lang ang 2nd paragraph.
Sa 3rd paragraph discuss naman ang 3rd reason same sa ginawa sa 2nd par.
4Th paragraph 1st sentence conclusion, then 2nd sentence recommendation.
If 2 sided naman yung intro pwede mo gamitin yung nasa template like kina Heprex na samples. Then yung 2nd par yung kabilang side, then yung 3rd paragraph yung other side. Tapos same last paragraph.
If medyo nahihirapan ka sa mga ideas, research ka dito sa forum ng mga recent topics. Tapos based dun sa topic reasearch ka anong pwedeng maging points and reasons para may idea ka na ano ilalagay mo sa essay.
Ang key talaga sa writing is dapat marami ka ideas. If nahihirapan ka mag construct ng idea try to research as much as possible. Google mo yung mga common or recent topics on pte writing tapos may mga sample questions dun,, then research mo ano possible answers para sa actual exam may idea kana ano isasagot. Tapos dpat familiarize mo mga connectors (like moreover, therefore, for instance, etc) kasi mas mataas ang grade kapag medyo complex ang sentence na ginagamit mo kesa simple sentences lang.
For summarize written text strategy ko is to first get ano main topic. Then analyze what important points were given, may nangyari ba? If meron ano ang nangyari, kelan nangyari? ano at para kanino ang purpose? Usually kasi sa mga paragraphs naka detail lang pero yung point lang naman dun is parang dinedescribe lang yung main topic. If you can answer who/what, when, how and why about the topic pwede mo na pagdugtungin yung ideas mo thru connectors and form a sentence. If you will have multiple paragraphs, summarize mo muna per paragraph then summarize mo ulit lahat in one sentence
Another tip also in writing as much as possible do not repeat the same words. If you dont have much stored knowledge about synonyms okay lang. Practice and Research is the key. Kaya malaki ang help sa akin yung pag research sa mga common or recent topics kasi while practicing pwede akong mghanap ng synonyms then mas madali ko syang ma recall sa actual exam kasi nagawa ko na sya before. Tapos if meron kayong word na ma encounter na parang hirap kayo mag elaborate, google nyo din anong synonym or phrases na pwedeng same meaning ng word. Share ko yung nilista kong mga synonyms na possible na magagamit sa mga essay kasi minsan these are the topics commonly asked.
Essay synonyms
Discuss- cite, mention, illustrate, narrate, elucidate, talk about
Region, province, rural area, district, territory, district, area
Boon- blessing, benefit, advantage
Tourist- traveler, vacationer, visitor
Tourism- visits to places of interest; commercial organization and operation of vacations; traveling to places; services provided to people for holidays
@Lexi nung sa amin separate yung laptop bag sa hand carry namin na 7kg backpack, then small sling bag for valuables. Yung laptop bag nga namin eh backpack din haha buti di na pinansin. Based on experience never tinimbang yung ginagamit kong hand carry backpack kahit minsan lumalagpas pa sa limit kasi mukhang magaan, kunware nalang hindi ako nabibigatan lol. Mas mainit sa mata nila yung mga luggage na hand carry.
Question para sa mga nag-move/IED na via Melbourne (Tullamarine Airport): Did you guys get an arrival stamp on your passport? I've opened an account with NAB online and one of the requirements when meeting with your banker to verify ID is the arrival stamp (aside from your passport and your boarding pass). I've read Australia doesn't normally stamp passports on arrival and you have to request for it. Can anyone confirm?
Second question: Once you meet with your banker and your IDs are verified, can you use your debit card immediately? Or may ilang days for them to process?

Hi. No need po for stamp. They can verify your passport on their system. However, keep your boarding pass and the welcome email from NAB with you during your appointment. After you received your card you can automatically use it. The thing with NAB is they will issue you an eftpos card only and not a VISA or Mastercard so you need to request for it and wait for a couple of days to arrive. Disadvantage of eftpos is its only limited to Australia and will not work overseas or anywhere where eftpos system is not accepted. Hope this helps.

@wanderer thanks sa inputs! I opened a NAB Classic account. Didn't know that the default card was only EFTPOS. I assumed Visa Debit kasi yun yung nakalagay sa account info sa website. Now I know to request for it when I meet with the banker next week
For the arrival stamp (not the visa label), just thought I would confirm kasi specific siya naka-state doon sa NAB welcome email : You’ll need to bring your passport with you – and it will need to have been stamped by Australian Immigration, so you have proof of when you entered Australia.
May email din yung banker with the info: If your passport hasn’t been stamped on arrival in Australia, you will need to provide supporting evidence of your immigration status. This can be in the form of: · a letter from the Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC) confirming your arrival; OR · a “Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO)” check issued by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
I checked VEVO and they only change status from Offshore to Onshore once naka-IED na. It doesn't show when you actually arrived. But boarding pass as supporting document is enough? Medyo weird kasi lumang info yata yung na-copy/paste ng banker since still referring to DIAC instead of DHA na.
Thanks!

@lethologically We arrived here in Oz last Dec 12 2017 and opened a joint account with NAB 2 days after. We just brought our passports (without arrival stamp), visa letters, boarding passes and tickets. After 3 days yata they mailed our cards (black for me & pink for my wife). Visa debit card na yon at hindi eftpos lng. I always use nga yon for my online purchases.

@dyanisabelle@chococrinkle Thanks sa reply nyo. Hindi na nga tinimbang ng Cebu Pacific yun hand carry ko, pero bago pumasok sa boarding gate, tiningnan nila ang laman. So far, wala naman ako naging problema pag dating ng Sydney airport. Tinanong lang ako kung may dala ako mga over the countet na gamot.

Don't you worry that much :-) Bring your visa grant letter, orig passport, NAB welcome letter, and boarding pass. That would be enough.
About the eftpos card, that was my experience and for some people I know who moved to Melbourne this year.

@wanderer went to the NAB branch (showed only passport, boarding pass, visa grant) and eftpos nga lang binigay by default. Hindi napansin nung banker so good that I got the tip from you before hand. Had apply for the Visa Debit card at the branch since need to provide Australian mobile number and Australian postal address they can mail the card to. At least the eftpos card usable na kaagad and doesn't have a surcharge kapag ginamit since hindi dumadaan sa Visa network. Nakakainis lang din na nakakatawa na may ibang establishments (like 7-11 in Southern Cross) nagugulat or natatawa sila kapag nagbabayad in cash

hello hello, saan po best magpapalit ng PHP to AUD? Ok ba na sa airport na ipapalit lahat ng php?

Welcome to Australia :-) Yup hindi uso ang cash dito even small establishments use card readers. Magagamit mo lang ang cash usually sa mga palengke pag below $10 and bibilhin mo, small asian grocery stores, hairdressers, and coin laundry etc.

@PinkMagnolia did that on arrival and ang pangit ng palitan sa Travelex sa airport. Nasa 1 AUD = PHP 45 plus fees. Same rates withdrawing on arrival using BPI/BDO ATM sa local ATM dito. Would not recommend. Nagpalit lang kami enough until we could get access to our local cards.
@wanderer kaya sinabi namin sa NAB na ibigay na kaagad yung card namin para di na kami old school haha na i-mail naman nila yung Visa card after 2 days.

@lethologically ano pong best way to exchange peso to aud? better po ba ideposit sa local bank then widthraw abroad?
@PinkMagnolia nagkataon lang na mababa pa yung palitan nung time na nag wire transfer ako from BPI to NAB. Pero may charges din ang BPI, document stamp tax and their own fees. If minsanan na transfer, I think option naman siya specially for the convenience. Pero shop around muna kung saan sulit. May friends ako na nagrecommend ng iremit but their office is in Ortigas.

Second question: Once you meet with your banker and your IDs are verified, can you use your debit card immediately? Or may ilang days for them to process?

For the arrival stamp (not the visa label), just thought I would confirm kasi specific siya naka-state doon sa NAB welcome email : You’ll need to bring your passport with you – and it will need to have been stamped by Australian Immigration, so you have proof of when you entered Australia.
May email din yung banker with the info: If your passport hasn’t been stamped on arrival in Australia, you will need to provide supporting evidence of your immigration status. This can be in the form of:
· a letter from the Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC) confirming your arrival;
OR
· a “Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO)” check issued by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
Thanks!

Yup hindi uso ang cash dito even small establishments use card readers. Magagamit mo lang ang cash usually sa mga palengke pag below $10 and bibilhin mo, small asian grocery stores, hairdressers, and coin laundry etc.
