Guys need help, anyone can answer.

    Initial Entry: March 2019
Big Move: December 2019 (or earlier)

Ang tanong ko is (lalo na sa mga same case ko na nag/mag initial entry at nag/mag big move later on):
Given lahat ng mga pre-requirements (e.g. opening an account (NAB), TFN, Centrelink, Medicare, at iba pa)
(Paki take note na 5 days lang ako sa Initial Entry, and this is for me to prioritize well given that few number of days lang at initial entry, and for me to lessen yung stress saka workload na pwede naman pala gawin sa Big Move)

For example, pagdating mo sa AU activating your account pala sa NAB sa branch for some they waited pa for the atm card to be delivered sa AU home address nila nung nagpa activate sila sa branch (nabasa ko A WEEK or so after IE nila ba yun kasi delayed si NAB. That would require more days pa to stay). Another example is yung TFN, for some naghintay sila for 2-3 weeks para ma delivered yung TFN nila sa AU home address nila.

I hope you guys are getting my point.

@NoelRubio kung may kakilala ka sa australia na may home address, pwede mo gawin yung mga medicare, tfn, etc. kasi it will take weeks for those to be delivered in an australian address. Otherwise, just do it during your BM.

Regarding bank acct, you can do it during IE mabilis lang yun if you opened your bank account overseas weeks prior to your IE.

    Tip:

If you opened account in NAB bank, ang makukuha mo during bank appointment is eftpos debit card which is usable only in Australia, need mo magrequest ng VISA/mastercard debit card but that will take 3+ days to be delivered to your address. You can do that during your BM anyway.

However, if you go for commonwealth bank, they will issue you Mastercard, no need to request new card.

@wanderer salamat ng marami. Learning what you said do really help a lot for me.
It appears sa signature mo na 3 days ka nag initial entry from Dec. 17 to Dec.20.
By Dec. 20, you went back home sa Pinas. Wala kasi ako kilala sa AU na may home address that I can use as an address for post mail. Bali tama ba, what you did is you did all the pre-requirements (TFN, Medicare, etc) during your BM? or you know someone sa AU and you managed to deliver those sa address nila?

    Thank you again :)>-

    =======================

Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

James 5:7-8 Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Hi I have a question. Anyone can answer. :)

I just received my NAB welcome letter and inside it stated that,

Don’t forget to attend your meeting. The Australian Government requires you to provide us with proof of your identity after arriving in Australia – so we need you to get in touch with us at least two weeks before you leave to organise a meeting with your named banker.

-Does this mean I have to e-mail/contact them before I fly to Oz? I haven't read anything like this here in forum.

    Thank you!

You can call the banker you were assigned to to book an appointment once arrived in Oz, it can be next day or same day depending what time you phoned and how busy the branch is. But in reality you can just walk in to the branch without appointment (based on experience).

@ceinau15 for NAB they advised to set appointment sa person in charge na binigay nila sayo sa welcome letter at least 2 weeks prior to your arrival or collection sa branch. Kami thru email lang then nag bigay sila confirmation.

@ceinau15 I emailed the contact person na nakalagay doon sa NAB welcome email. Nagreply naman sila sa email, so naiset namin na the next banking day after namin dumating at 10am may appointment kami. Just present passport, visa, and boarding pass. Got our eftpos card na pwede na kaagad gamitin, then requested for Visa card to be sent via mail (arrived 2 days later).

@alfonso31 If you're inside Australia, your visa in ImmiAccount is "Finalised" and your CO didn't tell you to do a "health undertaking" then you don't need to do anything else.

Companies handle the police clearance and background checks for you. You're not in PH anymore :)

@Grifter If you went inside PH then you may need a PDOS sticker to get out with a permanent visa.

    @batman I opened a Reward Saver once I got identified. 2.5% interest is :O
I'm pondering if I want to move to ING for dat 2.8% interest.

@fruitys just curious, what are your considerations for staying in NAB? I also opened a Reward Saver but didn’t know ING gives 2.8%

@jennyfv My first account after moving to AU is NAB and I have everything in there (everyday, savings, credit card) so I'm just too lazy to switch. And I like their coin/change machines :P

ING is very very good if you don't ever need a branch. Their savings account (Savings Maximiser) has the benefit that you can withdraw your money out without impacting the bonus interest (unlike NAB). There's just a bunch of conditions to meet that bonus interest (5 purchases in a month from an Orange Everyday, linked Orange Everyday and Savings Maximiser, at least one deposit a month from another source like payroll, etc)

aside from ING other banks that have HISA (high interest savings account) are RAMS, Ubank, and ME Bank. Usually nirerecommend siya sa FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) Australia forums.

"what are your considerations for staying in NAB?"

Given the scandal that came out of the royal commission, the only reason will be your super. One way or the other, your super is tied to one or more of the big banks. So kung i-boycott ang nab or any of the big4 ng tao, bagksak ang retirement fund mu.

    2. Diba pag PR mayroon tayong 365 days or 1 year na pwede nating gamitin para hindi tayo magkaka problema sa citizenship application in the future?
