You can upload the GTE pdf later. You can take an excerpt from the GTE pdf and put it into the 2000-character text box (take the most important parts). At least that's what I did.

what I did is leave a note saying "please find attached GTE letter". tapos nag attach lang ako ng SOP/GTE letter in pdf format.

I need advice from those naka Student Visa. I have on-going GSM application so as you all know, states are close for transacting Visa 190 & 491. In 2022, I will loss 10 points due to age sa GSM so plan kung mag student sa Australia to increase my points.

My agent's advice is to consider masters degree dahil additional points sa education, Australian stay at ma-convert ko na ang GSM application ko to onshore na mas malaking chance to be invited.

Parang hindi yata ma-approve ang student visa application kung lower than bachelor ang e-study ko sa Australia. Pero willing akong mag study nga diploma/advance diploma courses.

Mga tanong ko po:
1.) Kumusta po ang granting mga Student Visa ngayon? Nakakapag-trabaho ba ang mga student sa australia?

2.) Ano po recommended schools ninyo?
Ang mga schools of diploma/advance diploma of IT are:

Master’s degree (coursework) yung relevant sa occupation code mo, +5points pag graduate, sa regional school, another +5 points. Need mo lang cash, madaming cash. Benta sasakyan, lupa, alahas o kung ano man meron ka. Kung may asawa or partner ka, full time work rights sya as dependent, pwedeng taga bayad ng tuition or panggastos, kailangan nyo lang talaga show money para iwas deny ng student visa. After graduating at di pa bumababa points mo, then either instant invite sa PR visa or apply ng subclass 485.

Yan ang diskarte ko ngayon. Currently sitting at 85 points. Waiting for a school to accept my submission.

Use cricos website to search for schools/courses, and tuition fee, duration (92 weeks minimum) and the postal code for regional areas from AU immi website to know if a school is in regional.

My high school batchmate took up a series of diploma courses in Sydney, even though she already had a Bachelor's degree from pinas. Since you have a master's degree, I can't really say if the immigration officer will approve/reject it. In my case, I justified taking a second master's degree by explaining that the degree in Australia would help me specialize in my industry and the degree is not available in pinas. If you are jumping from business and ECE to IT, just make sure to clarify how the program will contribute to your career goal.

It was recently announced that offshore student visa processing will be resuming, which is obviously good news. But it looks like there's a really long backlog on visa processing (offshore and onshore). My previous offshore student visa application took 3 weeks, including health exam (request for health exam was made 2 days after visa lodgement); my current onshore student visa application is still processing (I lodged it just 2 weeks ago, but no response or request about anything). The published processing time is 4-9 months daw (I'll be on a bridging visa when my current visa expires). Not sure if that's accurate or matatagalan pa due to backlog, and if priority ang processing ng onshore vs offshore.

As for jobs, I'm not working at the moment, but a few of my friends have found work (one found work just before covid hit, one is doing casual/contractual work, another one found part-time work recently at a candy store). I guess it really depends on the type of work you're willing to take and whatever is available at that moment (timing is key hehehe). As for full-time work after graduating, I guess it depends din. Kasi 2 of my classmates who finished their studies last year (pre-covid pa ito ah), wala parin makuhang full-time work until now. They got their 485 visas but couldn't find full-time work in Sydney na related sa degree. Another classmate na kasabay kong maggraduate (Class 2020!) extended her job search to regional area kasi companies in Sydney weren't hiring. She eventually found a job in Wollongong, so she had to move to regional na.

I can only comment on the unis. I've heard Western Sydney has really good engineering programs (my cousin is doing undergrad engineering there hehe). UTS and Macquarie Uni are well-known for IT/computer degrees, you might want to look into them. If you're concerned with costs, consider going regional and see if you will qualify for Destination Australia scholarship.

First of all, salamat talaga sa advices.

I think, I will consider Master's degree po para wala ng problem sa Student Visa application.
Master's degree related sa Engineering para easy to explain sa application ko.

Regarding the processing time ng offshore SV, ganun ba talaga sya ka tagal. Na shock ako sa 4-9 months processing so dapat mag-pa-process na ako asap.

Ang problema ko talaga is yung fees, mahal ang masters degree talaga. Nakaka-lula ang fees ng gastos niya.
So need talagang mag trabaho sa Australia ka-pag nandun na ako. Also, ako lang ang pupunta doon.
Ang family will stay in Philippines para iyas gastos at hassle.
They plan to visit me after safe travel na or after the pandemic situation.
Hindi naman po ako choosy sa work, basta hindi lang physically mabigat ang very high occupational hazard.

My plan is to study sa regional at mag PR doon. Wala po akong plan mag big cities gusto po ng family ko sa mga medium and smaller sizes na cities to raise my family there.

Last po, Wala akong idea ano ang Destination Australia Scholarship baka pwede kong ma-maximize ang program na ya.

Last na talaga, mahirap bang mag master's degree sa Australia? Pwede bang e-sabay while working temporarily? Kaya ba sa salary ng temp work ang tuition fees at other fees?

Uu Pre, e-consider ko na ang Master's degree (coursework) sa situation ko.
Para my +5 points pag graduate, since sa regional ako another +5 points din.
Regarding cash, problema talaga yan sa lahat. Since ang Master's degree is nakapa mahal.

Plano ko, ako lang mag punta sa Australia. Si Misis at anak ko sa pinas lang para safe sila sa COVID.
Para din walang hassle sa side ko.

Plan ko sa Visa 190/491 ako papasok. Gusto ko lang mas SV para onshore na ang application ko sa PR. mas mabilis daw pag onshore. Nag SV din ako para ma option ko na yung Visa 485 extension so para mas ma-sure ko yung future ko sa Australia.

Not sure if Master in Engineering is what you need/want, maybe also look into Master of IT? Anyway, check the curriculum nalang on which one appeals more to you and would contribute to your career goals talaga.

Regarding offshore SV processing, it's a case-by-case basis. As I've mentioned, mine was 3 weeks lang, but that was 2 years ago. This time, onshore processing ako and yung given timeline is 4-9 months din. Applying for SV is relatively easy as long as complete yung documents mo and naka-enroll ka na. I think a lot of unis are opting to stay on the online delivery of courses, at least until the end of 2020; not sure if this trend will continue until much of 2021, so just be prepared to study online if you do get into a uni and get a SV.

Australian education is really expensive, whether VET or higher education (one of the highest in the world, like USA). That's excluding cost of living pa, kaya usually required ang SV applicants to show that you can fund your students without having to completely rely on funds from working in Australia. I know of an Indian classmate who took out a loan from their home country to be able to study in Australia (to pay for both tuition and living expenses), so it really depends on you on how you figure out payment for the fees. You really have to weigh your options (pros and cons, as well as risks) before you pursue your studies here, as well as do your due diligence on how much you are willing to spend to study. Will you spend more money to get a master's degree, but be able to apply for Post-Study Work Visa (more time to recoup your money spent on the tuition fees), or just take a Diploma/Advanced Diploma but have less time to work?

If I understand correctly, how it works is that educational institutions apply to the Australian government for scholarship funding, so that they can award students (domestic and international) some funding to encourage them to study in regional area. If they are successful, you can apply to the education institutions directly and see if you can get some partial scholarship for your education. It's a relatively new scholarship, so I don't know all the details.

The difficulty of the master's degree really depends on what you're studying and your own skills/knowledge. Personally, I enjoyed my studies even though may mga mahihirap na subjects and assignments (partially my fault yung mahihirap na subjects kasi kumuha ako ng electives na mahirap talaga). My top tip would be to get started on assignments early para hindi masyado cramming, baka maging low-quality ang output mo at mahihirapan kang mameet yung deadlines lalo na kung sabay-sabay sila. In terms of balancing full-time study load and part-time work load, it depends on what you're studying kasi, like kung may basic experience ka na or knowledge. For me, I was studying new things but much of the terminologies were familiar so I only spent minimum amount of time studying and doing assessments, and the remaining time were spent on volunteering and extracurricular activities (I didn't do paid work back then though).

If you will be traveling to Australia by yourself, it'll be difficult to pay for your university tuition fees just by part-time work. Generally the 40 hours per fortnight x minimum wage can cover your living expenses lang, not really tuition. Pag may breaks (Christmas, school holidays, summer and winter vacations), you can work more hours, but it's not a guarantee that you will be able to pay for your full tuition fees entirely from working there. If you'll be studying at vocational institutions that have really low fees, baka kayanin ng income.

Regarding Master degree, meron na po akong na review na mga Masters degree in IT. Same lang po ang annual fees nila.
Pero I think mas hindi demanding sa coursework si Masters in IT. Sa Masters engineering grabe ang requirements at expectations.

Hindi pa naman ngayon plan ko on SV. I'm looking at 1st Semester sa 2021 pero depende talaga sa situation natin sa COVID-19.
Meron akong nabasa na 14 days quarantine ang Students kapag pupunta sila AU at 3000 dollars ang fee sa quarantine hotel.
OK lang akong mag-online dito sa Philippines kung ganun.

Meron po kayong point on spending big money on Master's degree for the Visa 485. If my intention is to change my PR application from offshore to onshore.
pwede naman Diploma/Advanced diploma diba? Pero I was also thinking na baka 1 year lang sa program ang gawin ko, hence Graduate Diploma lang and hoping mag-move na si PR application.
Anyway, call ko na yun kung anong nakakabubuti sa akin. Although, nalilito na ako.

Another, nag check po ako sa website sa www.education.gov.au/destination-australia. Wala doon ang University na gusto kung pasukan.
Pero sa Uni website meron silang mga scholarship discounts. Salamat po sa tips na to.

Regarding po sa work, yon yung wala talaga akong idea kung paano at gaano ka laki ang mga gastos.
Yung advice mo na e-consider ang Diploma/Advance Diploma kasi mas lower talaga ang tuition fee niya. So mas kaya ang mga bayarin.
Cge po, e-compare ko na lang tong dalawang choices nato para ma-assess ko ang risk at risk factors.

@Ed510 I am currently studying a master's degree (coursework) but due to COVID 19 with travel restrictions and everything - for the time being, I'm on an online study although I have applied SV with dependent ( 4-4 months processing time). Anyways, most of the universities will give a scholarship better watch out for that too. From my school alone, I have provided financial capacity, GTE, and paid full (semester 1) before they issued my COE. I think you need to consider these things as well. good luck and God bless

@Ed510 Add ko lang po, kung maconsider nyo rin na option. Pag kasama nyo po si misis as dependent, pwede sya magwork up to 40hrs per fortnight. Baka makagaan din sa expenses. Tapos pag settled na, doon na lang kunin ang mga bata hehe

Beware of using websites other than the official websites (DHA), since fraud and identity thefts are becoming more and more common nowadays. Protect your personal info (date of birth, passport details, full name, etc.) as much as possible to prevent being a victim. Checking your visa conditions and work entitlements via VEVO is pretty straightforward, so you don't really need to go through other people/services to gain access to them.
