Hello po. This is for those professionals in the said fields na nasponsoran ng employer (add na din yung Data Science, Software Development).
How were you able to find your job? And gaano katagal yung visa processing?
I've been sending out numerous applications kasi for a month now and wala pa din akong nakikitang job opening na nagpprovide ng visa sponsorship. If you were able to get one during this pandemic, pa-share naman ng experience and tips na din if you have.
Thank you!

@kramkramkram Hello! Thanks for this info! So are you saying kahit magkaroon ako ng visa, mas priority pa din nila yung may AU experience?

@mariusinbrisbane Almost all Australian workplaces look for "local experience" no matter which industry you are. Overseas work experience are not seen as relevant unless you gain that local experience (at least one year, according to a friend).
As kramkramkram said, it's going to be difficult to secure a job unless you have specialized skills (again, it doesn't matter which industry), because employers prefer people who have PR/citizenship. It will cost them more money and time just to process that visa sponsorship. With the current pandemic and closed border, onshore applicants are more likely to be considered than offshore. There's no telling when this situation will change. If you are offshore, maybe directly going for PR visa is a better option for you?
A non-IT example of specialized skill is a friend who was able to secure visa sponsorship (temporary work visa and also employer-sponsored PR visa) because of their expertise in nanoscience/quantum computing.

@mariusinbrisbane it is a requirement in almost every job postings that you have the proper working rights in Aus, especially in IT. So get a visa first.
Having no local experience is challenging and requires a lot patience. Malaking factor pa rin ang work experience mo sa labas and how relevant it is sa ina-applyan mo. But let's say sa pool ng applicants, may advantage lagi ang may local exp. But if you don't have a visa yet, there's almost no chance of getting hired, unless the company explicitly state that they can sponsor a working visa.

@athelene Hello! Thank you po for this information!
Yun lang nga kinakatakot ko kasi. It might take lots a long time para lang maprocess yung PR and of course, money. I guess getting a PR visa is the best way to go, for now.
May I know if you're in the same industry (Analytics/Data Science)? I can't seem to find anyone na kapareho ko dito eh.

@tmanito That's really cool! May I know your years of experience? Mukhang factor kasi siya eh, or siguro wala lang masyado pang jobs offering visa sponsorship in the fields of Data Science/Analytics.
