Your relative must be living in a designated regional area to be eligible as a sponsor.

Do the sponsor and the applicant need to reside in the same State/Territory?
There is no requirement in policy or the regulations that the sponsor and applicant must live in the same regional area, however, the sponsor must continue to meet all the sponsorship requirements that they have agreed to, regardless of where they are each living.”

Hi Sir, I have also the same problem. My first cousin is residing in Melbourne as a PR, and Melbourne is not in the regional area. Is there any chance to claim that 15points from a family sponsorship?

Your sponsor must be:
-18 years old or older.
-usually resident in a designated area of Australia.
-be an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
-be your eligible relative or your partner's eligible relative if your partner is also applying for this visa
Your sponsor must be residing in any of the ff postcodes.
3211 to 3232, 3235, 3240, 3328, 3330 to 3333, 3340 and 3342
3097 to 3099, 3139, 3233 to 3234, 3236 to 3239, 3241 to 3325, 3329, 3334, 3341, 3345 to 3424, 3430 to 3799, 3809 to 3909, 3912 to 3971 and 3978 to 3996

ow, I thought Melbourne generally isnt applicable to that. My cousin is residing in 3809, so that means i can still get that 15 points? Am I right? thanks!

Looks like 3809 is considered regional. You may double check on this website.

Hello po!
Quick question lang and i am not sure if this question was answered before.
Planning to take 491 family sponsored stream.
Medyo confused po ako sa requirements ng bawat state. Do I need to satisfy the state’s’ eligibility requirement even though meron na akong family sponsor?
Ang iniisip ko kasi, since meron ka ng “Family sponsor” hindi mo na need mag apply at need makakuha ng “State sponsorship approval” please correct me if I am wrong po. Majority kasi ng requirements ng state need at least nag stay na sa australia or may peior exp na etc.
another question is, kelan po hihingin yung proof of residence ng relative ko po. nasa stage palang ako ng pag submit ng EOI sa skillselect.
Thanks po

491 FS and state sponsored are 2 different applications with different requirements. Stick to the FS requirements if you are applying as a 491 Family sponsored visa. Refer to the website for the detailed documents needed.

Hello.
Thank you.

Hi, is it fine that I chose both - FS and SS on my EOI? Or mas ideal kung isa lang stream per EOI? Thank you!

yung relatives ko po di rin sila under ng "Designated regional area postcodes". so ibig sabihin still possible po for family sponsorship as long as I would stay in the designated regional area?
Medyo ambiguous din po kasi ung nasa immigration site:
"_usually _resident in a designated area of Australia"

The clause states na hindi necessary na nasa same regional area ang sponsor and applicant. As an example, pwedeng nasa regional NSW ang sponsor ko at nagsstay ako sa regional VIC. So hindi ka massponsoran ng relatives mo kung hindi sila nagrereside sa regional Australia in the first place.

Which state are you going to? You have to check the rules for that state in their website. In SA you can use your PH driver's license as long as it's still valid. Pero once it expires, you have to get an SA licence to continue driving here.

Based on this page, pwede ka naman magdrive doon using a PH license as long as it's valid. For peace of mind, you can also try e-mailing them to enquire. Note na kahit naman PR pwede magdrive using a PH license when they first arrive. They just have to get a NSW license within a certain period of time.
