    Resources:

    • APEUni

    Repeat Sentence
Dito po, nagpractice muna ako ng WFD. Halos same din kasi po. Kelangan niyo po makuha or matandaan yung sinabi ng speaker. Mas nadadalian din po ako sa WFD nun una kesa sa RS. Kaya sinanay ko po muna yung tenga ko sa WFD. Nun nasanay na ako or natatandaan ko na un sinabi ng speaker, mas nadalian na ako sumagot. Another tip po is iimprove niyo po un fluency. Napansin ko po, mas mataas ang score ng RS kapag fluent po kayo.

    Resources:

    • APEUni

    Describe Image
Dito po, gumamit ako ng template. Yung kay Sonny English po ang ginamit ko. Check niyo nalang po sa Youtube Channel niya yung template. May playlist po siya dun ng DI templates. Tapos po, practice lang din po sa ApeUni.

    Resources:

    Retell Lecture
Yung dito naman po, kay Jay ng e2language po yung ginamit ko na template and ApeUni to practice po.

    Resources:

    • E2Language (RL):
    • ApeUni

    Answer Short Questions
    - ApeUni lang din po ako dito

    Resources:

    • ApeUni

    Writing
    Summarize Written Text
    - Ang ginamit ko po dito ay yung "Albeit...; but,.....; furthermore, ..... Pero sinunod ko yung advice ni sir @Unsullied_06 na 35-38 words dapat. Kasabay po niyan is practice din sa ApeUni

    Resources:

    • ApeUni

    Essay
    - May template po ako ginamit dito. Yung kay sir @steven po na template ang ginamit ko dito and practice din sa ApeUni

    Resources:

    Reading
Reading and Writing Fill in the Blanks

    Resources:

    • ApeUni
    • e2Language:

    • PTE Collocations:

    Multiple Choice (Single/Multiple)
    - Practice lang po sa ApeUni ang ginawa ko dito.

    Resources:

    • ApeUni

    Reading Fill in the Blanks
    - Dito naman po, yung kay Sonny English na lecture un pinanood ko then practice ule sa ApeUni.

    Resources:

    • ApeUni
    • Sonny English (RFIB):

    Reorder Paragraph

    Resources:

    • ApeUni
    • e2language:

    Write from Dictation
    - Dito po, sinanay ko po un tenga ko sa kakapakinig ng news and then tinatry ko alalahanin un sinabi ng reporter. Ang pinapakingan ko po madalas dito ay ung ABC News Australia sa Youtube. Dun po ako nasanay makinig and maintindihan yung sinasabi nun speaker. Kasabay din po nito un practice sa ApeUni.

    Resources:

    • ApeUni
    • Any News(English) on Youtube

    The Rest of Listening

CONGRATS. BAKIT UNG SA SWT 35-38 WORDS LANG ?

Hello! This is the highest score I got from APEUni after two weeks of practice. I struggled with Speaking talaga but fortunately got my desired score during the actual exam. I think magkaiba kasi ung AI na nagccheck sa APEUni at PTE? PTE was a lot easier as well pero mas madaming items than APEUni. Good luck with your exam!

APEUni scores a little lower. From what I've read in this thread, the PTE is actually more forgiving. Try to backread, alam ko may isang naka-90 all sa PTE pero sa APEUni ay mas mababa lang nakuha nya. :)

First take and I got 90 overall!!!!!!! Super thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. To pay it forward, here are the pointers and templates I used in portions I found really challenging. I dedicated most of my time in these areas. Working as of 8/26 test-taking:

Materials: APEUni VIP, PTE Pearson mock tests

    SPEAKING
    Read Aloud
Practiced a lot in APEUni. Just spoke as naturally and as comfortably, and I found speaking in an Aussie accent (without pronouncing letter r, kasi bulol ako lol) worked for me. That's what I did during the actual PTE exam.

    Repeat Sentence
Focused on the message, not just the words. It helped to close my eyes while listening and visualise it or translate in Tagalog in my head.

    Describe Image, Retell Lecture
    Jimmyssem template:

    Yan lang, nothing else—worked perfectly!

    Answer Short Question
Ang hihirap ng mga nakuha ko, so I missed three yata and nag-buffer talaga utak ko. So I just guess for the questions I didn't know.

    WRITING
    Summarise Written Text
35–38 words. I used words from the text, and did not make up my own summary. Kumbaga parang pinick apart ko lang yung text then patched it together in a way that made sense pa rin. Did not use a template.

    Essay
I used the APEUni template. But instead of memorising it completely, tinake ko lang yung main points and keywords so I can map the flow of the essay. Hindi ako comfortable using a hard template kasi when writing, mas nalilito ako, so I wanted to have a more flexible approach sa Essay part. Here's what I used (I bolded the keywords that helped me remember the template):

First paragraph: These days, there is substantive controversy among individuals regarding (topic, use the phrase/s from the prompt). The vast majority of people hold that (argument 1), while others strongly believe (argument 2). In my opinion, (thesis statement).

Second paragraph: Firstly, (present reason 1). For instance, a 2017 study from Cambridge University showed that (evidence 1).

Third paragraph: Furthermore, (present reason 2). As a matter of fact, a 2019 study from Harvard University revealed that (evidence 2).

Conclusion: In summary, I hold the view that (thesis statement). To address this issue, society should make an effort to find solutions.

    Pointers or flow of essay:
    1. Introduce the topic.
    2. Introduce possible views.
    3. Introduce your personal view.
    4. Reason #1 for your view.
    5. Example #1.
    6. Reason #2 for your view.
    7. Example #2.
    8. Summary.

I freely changed the verbs to my liking and mga connectors like "as a matter of fact". But lahat ng naka-bold, I kept. I'm fairly comfortable writing so trineat ko na lang na parang school essay na kung anu-ano yung point pero grammatically correct pa rin.

    READING
Really just improved with practice here. If I could add something, read the question first before you read the text so you know what you're looking for while reading.

    Reorder paragraphs
E2 super method: I'd say this is more about paying attention to the composition of the sentences talaga. Found this tough, but improved with practice.

    LISTENING
    Summarise Spoken Text
No template, ang baon ko lang ay yung opener na "The speaker mentioned..."

I typed down keywords and key phrases while I listened, so habang kino-compose ko na yung actual answer ay andun na sila sa baba. The list helped kasi kita ko agad yung flow ng message. Just make sure to delete it and to stick to 65–70 words.

Like the SWT portion, I just took those words and phrases tapos patched them up to make a coherent answer. Also limited myself to 3 sentences, kasi that's what worked for me sa PTE Pearson mock tests.

    Highlight Correct Summary
Used the countdown to skim the answers muna. That helps you map out the message of each option, para ma-connect mo pag pinakikinggan mo na yung sagot. Some advised not to look at the options first, but I found that the opposite worked for me.

    Select Missing Word
Did not look at the options kasi I found them distracting. Instead, I listened intently na lang. In my experience, the missing word/s connect sa message kasi.

    Other portions, I just practiced.

Hope this helps future test-takes, and best of luck to you all!!!

Also, in terms of the learning approach: I booked my test 2 months later, kasi 'di ako confident mag-cram. If same kayo na mahaba-haba ang preparation time, and you don't perform well with strict routines, it really helps to alternate study and rest. Napprocess in the back of your mind everything you're learning as you take time off. Just be consistent. I did not have a rigid study schedule, but each time I practiced and studied, I went hard. Then I rested just as hard  although when I wasn't studying, I kept my brain active by reading.

I'm not actually sure, yun ang na-pick up ko from this thread na "sweet spot". Nakita ko rin yun kay Jimmyssem if I'm not mistaken (guides like him test out their strategies kasi, kaya sila ang tinitignan for source). But your question is valid, I wondered the same. Siguro one thing to note is sa SWT, you must summarise a whole body of dense text in ONE sentence. So 35–38 words is, in my opinion, reasonable. Kapag lumagpas, baka mahirapan ka rin i-contain yung sagot mo sa iisang sentence without risking grammatical errors, lalo na sa aspeto ng syntax.

Medyo skeptical din ako nung una, kahit na praktisado ko naman sa APEUni and Pearson mock test, kaya nag-test akong kabado. Buti effective, haha!

Yes. One sentence lang ang pwede sa SWT—that's the official instruction sa actual PTE test, na summarise it in one sentence only, so it's not just a strategy.

Here's a sample from my APEUni history:

    Written text

    My answer (35 words)

It's scored low on APEUni, but same ang approach ko sa actual PTE exam.

Good morning, meron po ba sainyo na hindi umaabot sa Superior level sa mock exam ng APEUni pero sa actual exam nakasuperior naman? Hangang ganyan lang kasi nakukuha kong score.

ApeUni scores a little lower. From what I've read in this thread, the PTE is actually more forgiving. Try to backread, alam ko may isang naka-90 all sa PTE pero sa APEUni ay mas mababa lang nakuha nya. :)

yup, I agree with this. Mababa mga nakuha ko sa mga free samples ni APEUNI sa speaking. hehe. Yung mock exam ko e di ko pina-score-an pero i'm sure di aabot ng superior. Having said that, sobrang useful pa rin ni ApeUNI to familiarize yourself with the question types and to practice how to react sa change of pace ng questions. :)

got an overall score of 81

    L: 79
    R: 85
    S: 83
    W: 82

2nd take of PTE Academic, first took it last Oct. 2019 and got an overall score of 78. Tips I can give is utilize an exam simulation software if you can so you know yung pacing sa actual exam para di kayo magulat. And also read the instructions in the questions like how many words they expect. I also recommend going through sa videos available sa youtube sa channel ng E2Language.

    Hope that helps!

Good day! Meron po ba may experience sainyo na nag take ng PTE abroad? Based po kami ng Husband ko sa Qatar and we would like to know kung anong headset and mic ang dapat namin bilhin/gamitin para mas maayos ang practice namin sana. Nung tumawag po ako sa pag exam-an dito sa Qatar, PTE daw po ang magpoprovide ng hardwares and standard daw po pero di nya daw sakin masabi kung ano brand.

    Thanks po in advance. :)

d visible sakin yung brand nung nag-take ako, pero comfortable naman sya in my case, generic rin yung keyboard - QWERTY with numpad.
