Hello! Do you need to gain experience muna here sa Philippines before you can work sa Australia? Or you can apply in any hospitals sa Aus as long as you passed AMC exams even though you do not have enough experience here sa Ph(aside from the internship)? Thanks.

Hi! no, you don't need to gain experience apart from internship to work here. I only completed internship in the Philippines before moving to Australia.

Hello. When do we need to do the IELTS? After passing AMC 1 & 2 ? Thank you!

You need to have your IELTS results when you apply for AHPRA registration. Ideally, do it after passing AMC1 because you will be eligible to apply for AHPRA registration after passing it but you need a job offer as well before you can apply for AHPRA registration. I hope this makes sense.

Yes, it makes sense. Thank you!!

Hi! I’m a newbie here. My boyfriend plans to practice in australia as a doctor. He’s about to take the physician licensure exam. Can I ask if which path will be easier for him to be able to work and be an australian citizen- if he will have his residency here in the philippines then go to australia. Or if he will go there as a general physician? Because I heard from a friend that he knows a doctor who went to australia just right after passing the ph board exam who’s having a hard time applying in a hospital in australia. He has been applying for 2 years already.

I have had heard of similar stories as well patchi. A friend of mind told me to make myself competitive. What will make australian hospitals choose me over their local graduates or over uk graduates?

    Hi!

My Wife and I are planning to move to Aus. She just finished her residency for pediatrics and is about to embark on her fellowship. But, before that we need to weigh our options for our AUS move.

Given the details, is it more preferred to apply for the standard pathway than the specialist pathway? Thank you!

Hi I'm new to this thread. I really appreciate all the replies and feedback here which are really informative. I would just like to ask if it's possible to proceed working as a gp in aus after only passing mcq? Do you know any ph peeps already doing this? Thank you

Hi Maldita.....can my lady friend a GP/Anesthesiologist trained in Philippines work as GP or Anesth here in Australia even without AMC? By getting a job offer, can she take Short Term Training under Medical Specialty Pathway, WBA Workplace Based Assessment, PESCI or Competent/Specialist Pathway? She's a citizen living in Perth...

Hi, my wife is an HMO doctor in Victoria and she just got her general reg. It is very competitive and tough. salary is low too (compared to mine, Im in IT). My salary is 2x as her, but my I have more work-life balance. passion nya lang talaga yun med so I support her. paeads na sya sa Pinas with clinic but she had to start almost from scratch when we moved here. she studied for amc step 1 and 2, passed it, then struggled to find work to do rotation and get AHPRA. after that, she's now doing rotation and once she gets the minimum required rotation, she got her general reg where she has not the option to apply again for specialist pathway or GP. Sorry I may have some missed some details but happy to take questions and I will ask her if she's not busy :)

general advice, someone should be supporting you financially, emotionally and mentally if you will practice med here (GP or specialist pathway). good thing my work is able to do that even taking care of our kids.

May few pinoys din na specialist but very competitive talaga. that's true naman in most work here, even sa IT/corporate. the higher you go, mas madami puti. siguro mostly mga GP kc they earn decent with more work-life balance/less stress which is one of the reasons why you want to live in AU in the first place.

What other options aside from taking the AMC exam can be taken? How hard is the Specialist Pathway route?

I'm asking this because my wife is still thinking whether she should take the AMC exam (because of the cost) and she doesn't know what her chances are if she went Specialist Pathway. She already finished her residency in Pediatrics and have been moonlighting for a while now.

One option is to apply directly for specialist pathway. They may credit your wife's experience. We know of one who graduated from pgh. BUT suntok sa buwan according to my wife. You also need references from specialists here in Australia.

Passing AMC 1 and 2 has better chances although expensive and difficult.

Hello po. Just wondering whether there are any centers in the Philippines that hold the online clinical exams? Like Pearson Vue is to the AMC MCQ. Thank you!

Hello I just saw this! sorry. you mentioned na may mga pinoy na specialist and may one from PGH. may I know if naging consultant muna sya for xx years before applying sa specialist pathway? asking because my boyfriend is in a surgical field in PGH din now and idk if pwede na for assessment right after getting his diplomate.

also, what if mg fellowship sya muna or STT then after that, pa assess for specialist pathway?

Hi, try exploring this website: https://www.amc.org.au/pathways/#:~:text=Board of Australia.-,Specialist Pathway, specialist qualifications, training and experience.

Our friends had local peers here because they studied sub-specs in Australia, I think that's important to be vouched. Like I said above, it's very tricky. It also wont hurt if you reach out to migration lawyers who specialise in doctors' pathways, make sure they're registered so pwede icomplain if mali yung advice.

Hi, I'm not a migration agent but based on what my experience, these are your options:
    1. If your husband is a PR, he can apply you and your kids as dependents. You become PR too. PRs are almost like citizens, same benefits, except you cannot vote and PH passport.
    2. If you husband is not a PR (e.g., Student Visa), there is no pathway for doctors from what I know. I know very little about specialists being accepted here but check the link I posted above.
    3. You have a higher chance of getting a PR visa as a nurse - its highly in demand here at the moment. Best to check a registered migration agent.

TIP: Dont bring your kids here if you are not a PR yet, school fees are very expensive.
