Hello po ulit! Helpful po un document ni Era as big move checklist. 🥰

    Physical inspection
    • A cover letter
    • Tenancy record
    • Proof of employment (e.g. contract, job offer)
    • Proof of income or dnancial capacity (e.g. payslips, bank statements)
    • Proof of your identity
    • Referrals

Since bago lang kami sa AU, first time namin mag rent, baka di kami maka provide ng tenancy records 😅

May specific dyan to NSW, so yung sa VIC iresearch mo nalang. Meron din dyan if departing ka from PH.

Mostly naman info dito is for overall Australia. Some stuff specific to NSW, research nlng ng counterpart for Victoria. Generally di naman nagkakalayo.

    Maraming salamat!
Btw, anyone po departing or departed from Singapore? 🙌🏻🙏

    I nominate @_sebodemacho haha

thank you po sa pagreply. family of 3 po from manila po ang departure namin. planning po kasi na mag ceb pac kami kasi sobrang layo po ng prices and direct flight to melbourne po sya pero ang estimated time of arrival po nung flight is 12:05AM po. ask ko lang po if may mga nabo book po ba na transpo in case para po sa transfer form aiport to airbnb/rental? thanks po sa makakasagot.

Yup, there's Uber, DiDi and Ola. Just make sure you enter your address sa destination and you have internet connection. There should be taxis lining up din. Note that car shares like Uber wont let kids inside without a car seat or booster, depende sa age and height. But taxis are exempt from this rule (dont ask me why and how).

The best option I think is join an FB group for Pinoys in Melbourne, Sydney or whichever state you are heading. May mga for hire dun that you can ask how much, including arrangements such as car seats, etc a few days before your arrival date. Just post something and check their profile to be sure they're legit.

Up ko po ito thread na ito. Nabasa ko online, meron na Uber with car seat. Totoo po ba ito? 😃 Traveling soon with 15 months old baby 🙌🏻 Sana meron pa magreply sakin! 🙏

So may tumulong naman saming mga pinoy hanggang sa nagka full time work kami parehas ng misis ko (buntis at that time).

Real estate agents/landlords are generally understanding on this from a new migrant's POV. But if they asked you for any contacts of previous agents (if any, even overseas), then provide them those.

Again, IF you still got contact with your previous agents in SG, AND IF also they allowed you to share their contacts with your AU agent. Consent is important. :)

That happened to us. My AU agent did contact my previous SG agent with consent, to fill out some survey forms about their experience with us as tenants. It's like when you are applying for a job, a character reference.

I wont try to complicate things for myself haha. Just be transparent with the AU agent/landlord na lang.

Basta guys, dont overthink nor overcomplicate things too much pagdating sa referrals na yan. It is just a minor requirement, only if possible to be supplied. Mas mahalaga yung mapakita nyong kaya nyong mag rent, more on financial capacity bilang new migrants. :)

Hello po ulit! Helpful po un document ni Era as big move checklist. 🥰

    Physical inspection
    • A cover letter
    • Tenancy record
    • Proof of employment (e.g. contract, job offer)
    • Proof of income or dnancial capacity (e.g. payslips, bank statements)
    • Proof of your identity
    • Referrals

Since bago lang kami sa AU, first time namin mag rent, baka di kami maka provide ng tenancy records 😅

Pano po kaya if wala agent or kahit yung owner di namin makuhanan ng letter.

Thanks for this! Nakaka-positive 🙏 share ko lang din, nalaman ko in case wala referral from previous landlords, pwede din character reference kunwari siguro someone na nasa AU na, like friends or relatives or previous housemates 😃

How to tell if magrerent ka direct from landlord vs nagpapa sublet lang?

At kung legal bang ipasublet or hindi yung property/room? Para iwas scam.

Or any red flags when looking for a house.

Okay naman po so far. Right now focusing on getting a job while overseas to make the move easier.

Since March, I already got 3 interviews, and I don’t wanna jinx it, pero one is looking really great, they already asked for my visa details and called some of my references.

Pero ito nga po, it is in regional NSW, so I’m asking here if anybody knows someone from that area. Would like to connect with them to ask for sharehouse accommodation and check the Filipino community.

Hello!! My BM is on April. I've been trying to apply for jobs while offshore. But my phone number is still based in the philippines. Can I buy an esim from australia then activate it here while offshore? Para lang may local number na ko then I can put it in my contact details.

Pwede ka magbuy ng esim from amaysim or felix

Hi JMcounter, up ko ito reply mo. May further question po ako, bali pwde bo ba gamitin un esim for like 1-2 months after mag BM, para unti unti namin update sana un mga OTP namin from banks, emails, etc. from old number to AU number. Then eventually, apply kami actual sim na naka plan or line na.

Hi, not sure about amaysim kasi felix yung gamit ko pero it's an actual sim naman. If you meant na gawing physical sim, I think pwede naman. Also, if you plan to subscribe din to other plans pagland mo, pwede mo ipaport yung number mo - meaning you can keep the same number, mag iiba lang provider mo.

About the passport, what do you mean dito?

My flight is on May 5 na, and I have booked an Airbnb for a week as my temporary accommodation. Nasubukan ko na rin maghanap sa FB pero no luck yet, as most of the available rooms are really far from my workplace. :(

Kung rooms hanap mo, most likely kasi ang marami is yung malapit sa Uni. If so, may way naman to commute to downtown (bus - train - tram). Mahirap talaga makahanap na malapit sa city. If meron man, mataas ang rent.

Ganon talaga. Milya milyang kamahalan pag furnished and rare yun. Lalo malaking pamilya kayo. Allot some budget for home furniture and stuff.

Uso po ba shopeee jan, or ano online store un ok? 🙏

Walang shoppee/lazada/any other Asian online shopping stores. Amazon and eBay ang meron dito.

Uso po ba shopeee jan, or ano online store un ok? 🙏

How about secondhand items po? San kaya nakaka check non? Salamat po!

Kmart and Vinnies (super mura, 2nd hand shop na maayos talaga).

🙌🏻 Its me again. So mukha need namin pala mag prepare ng budget for bed and appliances na need namin. We’re family of 3 pala and hanap namin un sarili unit or apartment po sana 🙏

Ganon talaga. Milya milyang kamahalan pag furnished and rare yun. Lalo malaking pamilya kayo. Allot some budget for home furniture and stuff.

Uso po ba shopeee jan, or ano online store un ok? 🙏

Walang shoppee/lazada/any other Asian online shopping stores. Amazon and eBay ang meron dito.

May follow-up question po ako. Lets say order from IKEA 🥹 Salamat ulit sa patience!

It's common not to buy stuff unless you have secured a rental home.

Yung strategy ay depende sa sitwasyon nyo. Are you coming here via AirBnB first? If so, you can start buying stuff on your last week sa BnB, for example, that is, secured na rin dapat yung perm na lilipatan.

I cannot say for sure, kasi kahit naman naka order na kayo, any delay is still possible. It's another common thing. :)

DIY all the way. Avoid preachy, know-it-all, and unscrupulous agents AT ALL COSTS!

Hi just wanna share the news, I got a job offer. It is from a not for profit agricultural research cooperative in Regional NSW. Hindi malaki offer, pero I think enough na to start and gain experience.

Kumbaga at least di ako pupunta ng Australia ng kinakabahan if I will land a job in my industry. Slowly but surely we can increase naman our salary just skill up and gain local experience.

Sa mga nagdadoubt na makakahanap ng work while offshore, it is possible, isa lang naman need natin despite sa hundreds ng in-applyan natin na work. And don’t be afraid to start over, yung pagtiwala nila sa skills and experience natin kahit di sya local is big enough of a risk sa kanila. Plus lahat naman nagsasabi na madali maghanap ng ibang work once onshore and you have local experience.

Mabibigay ko lang na tip sa paghahanap ng work is:

    1) Quality over Quantity. Piliin yung aapplyan and customize your CV and Cover Letter para makalusot sa filter ng seek or linkedin.

    2) If possible, send your application directly to the hiring manager or CEO of the company. I sent my application directly to the email address of the CEO, and they called me and praised my initiative and drive to present myself for the position.

    3) Be confident and be honest. Don’t overpromise, recognize your weakness and strength. If they are interested in your skills and experience, they will accommodate you. In my case, I was honest during the interview process that I’m still in the Philippines, that I already have a booked flight and that I put my friends’ address sa CV ko.

    4) Get an Australian SIM if possible. Sobrang laking tulong nito. I will give a shoutout dun sa nag offer but I do not want her to get flooded with requests to purchase a sim. So I will give a silent shoutout sa kanya. Why AU SIM is important? Because employers will schedule an “informal” interview first before scheduling a zoom or video interview. I got two such calls with my AU SIM, and they even ask you to return call so mahalaga you can also call or text with the sim (so roaming enabled)

    5) Improve your LinkedIN profile. Even though di sya vinisit ng nag offer sa akin ng job, there are a lot of recruiters who visited and viewed my LinkedIn profile to check if I am a suitable candidate.

    6) Also check out this video: https://youtu.be/0vTyJE9vQGI?si=RbogTgaWWDPiaHOc

    7) Tatagan mo loob mo. Be prepared to get rejection emails everyday. Kahit na sobrang pinagpaguran mo yung paggawa ng resume and CV mo. At the end of the day you are disadvantaged kasi offshore ka.

    8) Use AI. To analyze job listing, and create cover letter. Not saying na buong letter is chat gpt (though may mga sinend ako na ganito - sadly walang bumalik), but you can use it to better the wording of your cover letter.

Lastly, good luck! You’ll need a lot of it.

We’re one step closer sa dream natin. Laban lang.

Right now naghahanap ako ng matutuluyan pero nahihirapan maghanap ng Pinoy sa area. Para sana makahanap ng sharehouse. Haha.

Trying my luck here. For first entry with plan to go back to the Philippines a week after, kailangan po ba mag-PDOS? Salamat po.

Laban lang.

Happy for you umuusad pakonti-konti! Thanks for sharing what works for you and whats not big help ito. Hope you find a place to stay na soon!
